My current Block list for Experts: Novice - Kyatts Adept - Pyre Foxes (Ornus) + Dark Kebbit (Cervus - This is to Kebbit Swap when I get Expert Kebbit tasks, see Counterfeit Kebbits video) Expert - Generally Orange Salamanders but I kinda do whatever, if you can't get Kyatt in Novice just block here and do the other. For Master I would block Pyre Fox in Adept, Sunlight Antelope in Expert, and then basically whatever else you want, it's up to personal choice.
Setting up the novice block is the hardest so far, especially when you are master tier, since you have so many options. I ended up blocking tecu salamanders on novice, pyre foxes on adept and red sallys / sunlight antelopes on expert. Good master setup for contracts / hr!
I would setup your adept to be spotted kebbit because dark kebbit can be assigned by expert, you are losing out on an extra good task minimizing kyatts and orange sallys
This is by far the most comprehensive guide I've seen in a while that is also approachable and presented in a way that makes it easy to understand for a dumb dumb like me.
Thank you! The vast majority of the video was figuring out how to convey it without being too complicated so I really hope it made enough sense to help you out.
My blocklist, which took me about 2 hours to get is: Novice - Herbi (Already have pet and it's a very long rumour if you get unlucky) Adept - Pyre Fox (Make sure u block this on adept because it's the only rumour that is shared with master) / Razor Kebbit Expert - Sunlight Antelopes / Red Sallies Getting a casual 130k to 140k xp/hr without much effort, around 8 to 10 rumours an hour done at 99 Hunter.
I feel like the one-time rerolling via not accepting is def a bug and gonna at least be attempted to be fixed. Doesn't seem safe codewise for the same master to be giving 2 tasks lmao Very good video tho!
I wouldn't be surprised, but even if it is fixed, it's totally possible to simply do the task, push it to the "bank", then farm lower rumors to pull it out and then just leave it untouched. So a bit more work and you will have to do the bad task at least once, but then you're set!
Amazing - I really hope Jagex doesn't nerf/'fix' this system by any means ... it really makes you think about the task blocking instead of mindlessly clicking one button and 'that's that'. Took me a while, but I got both adept givers to have two of the worst tasks so I never have to worry about them again in the expert tasks. (bear in mind, it may take a few dozen tasks to get set up properly; using the novice master 'skip' is also beneficial to reroll them all if you get a 'whammy') Cervus is the only one who can get razor backed kebbits (noose wand) but can also get pyre foxes like Ornus can - My task block list looks a little something like this: Novice task giver: Moonlight moths (this one can be better, but in honesty im afraid of accidentally rerolling all other tasks on accident with this guy so ive just left it :P) Cervus: Razor back kebbits Ornus: Pyre fox Aco: Sabre toothed kebbits While using Teco as my main task giver seems to be yielding very good xp/hr at lvl 88 - around 160k~ The only tasks that kind of suck with that given layout is you will still have Kyatts and Antelopes but I don't mind them for the teleport charges/bolts on my iron :)
Yeah I know it's super unintuitive and can be a bit tricky but once you set it up properly it honestly feels soooo good and I can't imagine going back to doing every lame task I get.
Great video! Question, I am currently 58 hunter and have the following: Novice - Kyatt Adept - Razer back kebbit and pyre fox I hate Razer back kebbit and don't want pyre foxes but want to do adept for the rewards. What's your advice on next steps?
These are pretty good blocks honestly and I'd just do whatever the pyre fox one is over and over again. It sucks to do the pyre fox task but it's probably a lot easier than constantly having to swap stuff around and Kyatts/Razer backs are a lot worse in my opinion. Pyre foxes have gotten a lot better since the drop rate changes and more spawns!
Actually a slight optimization ~ Cervus can assign Razor Back, Orvus can't. So your best bet is to do the razor back kebbit master until you hit like sabre toothed kebbits, then do the Pyre Fox One. It's a bit of setup but this way you'll never get Kyatts, Sabre tooth, or razor backed kebbits
Great guide. Jamflex really need to sort this out, it shouldn't be such a chore to sort out your blocks, and it should be possible to view what blocks I have with which master. They need to overhaul the block list system and make it like slayer, needlessly annoying at the moment.
I'm really curious if this system is here to stay, or if it's unintended and will be implemented out. The temporary tasks that npcs can offer outside of their long term task is extremely unintuitive for people coming into the system blind.
I had moonlight antelopes stocked at the novice, red chins in adept, red salamander in adept, sunlight antelope in expert and herbiboar in the other expert. Master still gave me moonlight antelope to hunt despite only having dashing kebbit, tecu salamander and moonlight moths supposedly available. Am I doing something wrong?
The real hunter is trapping the fox in your rumor list! Just remember that novice has the widest range of tasks so it might be easier to trap it in adept instead! Otherwise you'll be doing a lot of novices before you finally hit the fox.
i'm not sure where I fucked up, but I just got a Master Pyre Fox... - never bothered with a Novice block - got a Pyre Fox from Cervus (Adept) as a new task (not reroll), never touched Cervus again - moved on to Experts, got Red Sally on Teco (Expert), Sunlight Antelope on (Aco) and never touched them again. - on the Experts, I sometimes rerolled with Wolf (Master) -- if Teco gave me a Sabre Toothed Kyatt, I'd do a Herbi Master, for example. - thinking I was done, I moved on to only masters and it seemed like it was working, got on a good streak then boom, Pyre Fox.. any ideas on where I went wrong? I'm 100% sure I never talked to Cervus since getting the Pyre Fox from him
IMO the optimal block list would be Pyre Fox and Sabre Toothed Kebbits on Adept, and then either Kyatts or Razor Kebbits in Novice. This leaves: Orange Salamander, Grey Chins, Dark Kebbits, Red Sallys, Red Chins, Dashing Kebbit, Sunlight Antelope + Kyatt/Kebbit (whichever you left open)
Bro i wish i knew how to make plug ins cause i would make a plugin for both hdos and runlie to make tracking this stuff easier by inclient ui list if some one knows how to make them hmu on details and designs but GREAT vid 10/10 made this new content easy to digest and understand
Hi dude. Everytime I don't want to do my Expert task, I will ALWAYS get the same two tasks from Masters? Why is this? It's always Orange Salamanders or Razor Kebbits??
Because they never change unless you either do them OR after completing a master rumor, decline the new one and instead go talk to the expert master. you'll get a new one from them so long as you don't go and talk to anyone else. that's how you reroll them off the sallys
Im really confused, ive just got a pyre fox task from the novice task. I went to the master and he said he can swap to another task, do i want to do this or will this mess up pyre fox with the novice guy?
Nope, the novice guys pyre fox task is "saved". basically as long as you don't reroll your entire stack the novice will continue to offer the pyre and you can just do masters (or adept/expert) over and over and you'll never get pyre foxes!
I don't get it. I spent hours getting antelopes/foxes etc on adepts and experts without touching them again, now the master has given me both. Is there a certain order? Kinda pissed off
Did you accidentally get a new task from the Novice? that will reset all your tasks. Go check the adept/expert and see what they're offering, it might have been reset.
NPC indicators Plugin in RuneLite! I just Shift right click and tag them all individually, but you can also add their names manually in the plugin settings.
Im confused still.. when I try talk to other hunters they just say something along the lines of 'I heard youre hunting X for X.' and wont offer me a rumour?
Not sure if this changed in a recent update but according to the wiki if you're doing Expert Rumours you don't need to waste a block slot on Pyre Foxes - if you get your rumours from Teco he doesn't give Pyre Foxes.
Did something change in the last six months? I followed this and other block list suggestions and i'm at 83 hunter doing expert rumors and yet this exp is only like 60k top an hour no matter how fast i try to do it. This is garbage, because I am literally doing everything every guide suggest to the letter and it's just half the exp of Herbiboar with less profit. And by to the letter i mean To.The.Letter. Fast teleports from my near(but not quite) maxed house, proper block lists that i have done from this and other guides, being efficient with the hunts i go on, fast, and getting back with my whistles to grab a new rumor asap..etc etc all of it. The best exp an hour i got was 70k one time lmfao. And the rewards? Garbage, the outfit barely increases the odds to begin with(and took forever to get), the hutner tool kit is pretty reduntant and only saves space and nothing more, and the generic rewards you get are barely much gp per hour at all. The Pet is cool at least but I am sticking to Herbiboar to get to 91 so i can hunt the Moonbucks.
@erickchristensen746 There's been a good deal of changes since that with proper set up should be netting you close to 140k xp/h or so now at experts. I'd recommend looking at the hunter rumours wiki and finding what the experts assign and trying to block the bad ones there and do as much falconry and salamanders as possible! chins can be good too for easy cash
I found out about this an hour before this video and I watched the whole thing and it is still confusing 😂😂😂 definitely not a jagex intended mechanic, but I’m glad we found a way to not do more fucking foxes 😂😂😂

Gotta kill time until the next one :)
I love the visual and explanation you put together, very helpful for conveying a complex concept
Thank you! The vast majority of the video was figuring out how to convey it without being too complicated so I really hope it made enough sense to help you out.
Your guides are super underrated, I love your presentation style
This was the only video which actually made me understand how temporary tasks work. Very well presented, thanks!
This was super useful even just using the most basic premise of it! I went and talked to the novice and he immediately gave me pyre foxes. Thanks!
Thank you for covering some of the more niche Varlamore content! I'm learning a ton of cool new things 😄

incredible explanation, you consistently blow me away with your guides and videos. keep up the great work much love 💕
Super helpful, really great verbal and visual explanations!
I voted no to the foxes in the poll because I love foxes and didn't want to hunt them. 😢
They might as well be an endangered species given how few of them there are
Ahhhh ya big wetwipe. If it helps the examine text says they aren't happy to see us so headcanon they are plotting against gilenor like the penguins
Nobody wants to hunt them xD For a different reason though.
But i have to admit it, they're too cute to be crushed :'c

incredible explanation, as always. glad to see i can rely on you for great info after leagues, too!
Thanks for this guide. Kept it very simple and the examples were straightforward. I hope you do more in the future!
i hope they make it so you gain more experience during rumours rumours really need some buffs

Cervus is the only one who can get razor backed kebbits (noose wand) but can also get pyre foxes like Ornus can - My task block list looks a little something like this:
Novice task giver: Moonlight moths (this one can be better, but in honesty im afraid of accidentally rerolling all other tasks on accident with this guy so ive just left it :P)
Cervus: Razor back kebbits
Ornus: Pyre fox
Aco: Sabre toothed kebbits
While using Teco as my main task giver seems to be yielding very good xp/hr at lvl 88 - around 160k~

Has your opinion on Pyre Foxes changed since the update on 3/27?
I haven't tried them but I still would guess they're one of the worst tasks. Deadfalls are just really damn slow without some massive buffs.

The real hunter is trapping the fox in your rumor list! Just remember that novice has the widest range of tasks so it might be easier to trap it in adept instead! Otherwise you'll be doing a lot of novices before you finally hit the fox.

What is Cervus currently offering you? You may have gotten the Cervus task without a rumor active and therefore it was only a temporary task.
@@doubleshine you mean I should have an active task (say, from Wolf) *and then* reroll with Cervus to try to get a Pyre Fox?🤔

There's no reason for this level of complexity from rumors, either buff the droprate/xp or let us manually block certain monsters.
Don’t you get worse rewards for lower tiers though?
T2 and T3 only have pet rolls. Keep in mind :)
Thanks for the vid but man is this wonky. Hopefully they add a block board or something to make this more streamline
Why does everyone hate Pyre foxes? They're good heals for irons and its very chill/damn near afk.
By any chance can you pin what are your optimal blocks that you have please?

Pyre foxes, always skip after once going 100+ dry.
Let me block every task except dashing kebbis plz Jagex
They should just add a blocklist
They can actually give you the same contract
instructions unclear i think i'll just hunt myself next time

Shouldn't have to jump through hoops like this for blocking and skipping cmon jagex..
but it's a pyre fox! FAIYAAA
need the soundbite going MISSION COMPLETE when I hand in the rumor
