- It’s been called "the most famous bar you’ve never heard of.” Neir’s Tavern, which has appeared in “Goodfellas” and “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” is celebrating its 190th anniversary this year.
It's really old and because of
that; there's a lot of history.
It's a nice place to have something to eat and a few drinks.
Worth a trip !
I remember the old bowling alleys. We used it at my friend's first son's christening.
terrific. I think I stopped in here, back in the early 80s....can't recall its' name....or location, but looks familiar.
....the newspiece says it was called THE UNION COURSE.
....I hope the new owner is wary of "landmark designation"....can be a help....or a MAJOR pain in the ass re: needed renovations which will ultimately PROTECT the building/property....but many extra "hopps" to go through. GOOD LUCK.
I remember the scene at this tavern in the movie, Goodfellas. However, the actual club where the, Teflon Don, John Gotti and his cronies used to hang out; is not too far from there....!! (98th Street in Ozone Park, Queens).
