Love seeing him bring back some of the tracks that weren't the biggest hits on his albums. These songs are gems and it's very cool to see him perform them almost 40 yrs after they were originally released.
yeah i never understood why this wasnt a hit, its one of the most relatable songs ever by him, everyone has had a Leyna, I remember some from 20 years ago everytime I hear this song and get chills
I love this song. In 1980 I discovered it on the B-side of the 45 of "It's just a Fantasy". When I first heard it, I fell in love with the song instantly. A few days later I was pissed off at my parents, so as a protest, I kept by playing "All for Leyna" over and over, blasting it full volume on my stereo for 4 hours, thinking, 'That'll teach em! " 😄
The original music video for this song needs to be seen to be believed. Billy Joel looks into the camera at multiple points and has his eyes bulging out like crazy! Great song and funny music video.
My roommate in college used to play the "Glass Houses" album frequently, and thusly, introduced me to the wonderful music of Billy Joel. I hope he's alive and well - wherever he may be.
One of the first albums I ever owned, and this is my favorite track on it. I've only heard it live once, well technically twice because of sound check!!
Wish he wouldn't have kept this one out of his live set for most of the late 80's and throughout the 90's. Gem of a song and it would have sounded better on tours for The Bridge, Storm Front and River Of Dreams. Took too long to bring back out.
I love seeing Billy Joel perform live! Last time was 2009 on his last Face to Face tour with Elton John in St Paul, MN. The man never ceases to amaze me!
All of these comments are pretty much the same and mine is no different...., this is in the top four of my favorite BJ songs. It sooooo speaks to my youth, except in my case, the girl's name was Zena.
A long time ago I joint aan book club called eci. Every monty you had tot make one purchase. At first Ik didn't know what to pick. After long deliberation I close the album glass houses by Billy Joel. Boy did I do good. It's the best damn album I ever bought!
One great-unpretentious-overlooked-new wave feel-groovy tune! By far the best piece in the Glass Houses album. There’s a sort of “Cold as ice” feel in it, btw. Unconsciously?
Anyone notice the little Morse code SOS rhythm he throws in. Eg, 2:25. He repeats it throughout the piece. I onced asked him about it and he was like, yeah? You actually noticed that?
My brother (German) understood "Affenleder" (ape leather) instead of "All for Leyna" when listening to that song.😅 For me, it's one of the best by Billy Joel. I would like to play it in my covers band, but we don't have a keyboard player.
One of the reasons why I love this song is because it sounds like it was written for the 2000s, it was way ahead of its time. The drum groove, the synth line, the emo-rock chorus, it's so good.
All of the deep cuts on Glass Houses are better than the hits. All for Layna, Sleeping the Television on, Through the Long Night, C'etait Toi (You Were The One), Sometimes a Fantasy etc...
Whole step down from the record - not bad considering it's 35 years later so his voice was close enough :-) Drums and Bass are better here than what was played on the original recording! -
The most underrated Billy Joel song.
Not by me.
Yes
Absolutely. It's great.
Truth. This kicks Assss
This and Sometimes a Fantasy. Think this wins by a bit tho
One of the most underrated Billy Joel songs. It is easily one of my favorites
Yea, i agree with yu
Love seeing him bring back some of the tracks that weren't the biggest hits on his albums. These songs are gems and it's very cool to see him perform them almost 40 yrs after they were originally released.
This was a hit
@@RhiannaBarr It was?
@@BoodlesMaker yeah it was like a semi hit
I’d kill for a B side tour! All deep cuts for die hard fans. Great Suburban Showdown type songs.
My parents named me “Leyna” after this song❤️ my dream is to listen to this live
I named my daughter Leyna! My favorite song off the Glass Houses album!
Shhh! nobody knows how good this song is. let's keep it to ourselves
Lol love this
Yes
Billy needs to play this song more
Ok
Of all the songs on this album, this is the one that stands out in my brain and the best...
yeah i never understood why this wasnt a hit, its one of the most relatable songs ever by him, everyone has had a Leyna, I remember some from 20 years ago everytime I hear this song and get chills
I used to drive my sister nuts by banging this song out as loud as possible on the piano. Some of the best times of my life.
A hidden treasure and one of my favorite Billy Joel songs!
Yep, I used to hear this song very often on the radio, in the early 80's.
Pay attention to the lyrics, guys - this is a cautionary tale.
Amen
One of the best songs on the Glass Houses album.
Yea it is
I love this song. " 😄
This song was the 17 year old me. I used to listen to it on the Glass Houses album right after a terrible break up. Still hurts
The original music video for this song needs to be seen to be believed. Billy Joel looks into the camera at multiple points and has his eyes bulging out like crazy! Great song and funny music video.
My 15 year old's favorite Billy J. Song. Kid's got taste.
His best song. I have been obsessed with it since the first time I came across it. "why have I never heard this before?!"

This should be in his regular rotation live. I’ve been to a ton of his live shows and always wanted to see this live along with Laura. C’mon!!!
My roommate in college used to play the "Glass Houses" album frequently, and thusly, introduced me to the wonderful music of Billy Joel. I hope he's alive and well - wherever he may be.
自分が中3だった、1981年に初めてFMラジオのリクエスト放送からカセットテープに録音した洋楽です。擦り切れるくらい何度も聴いた曲。オネスティ、ピアノマン等もいいけど、この曲も素晴らしい。
Billy Joel = Legend
Love it when the songs sound the same as the album version expecially after all these year you fucking rock. I wasn’t even alive when this came out !

Glass Hoses was my first Billy Joel experience. And THIS song!
One of my all-time favorite Billy Joel songs and I really like him singing this in a lower key sounds just as good!
One of the first albums I ever owned, and this is my favorite track on it. I've only heard it live once, well technically twice because of sound check!!
It's one of those songs that the older it gets the better it is!
Was a just a kid loving this song!! I remember just staring at the album cover listening to it! #80skid

Glass houses tour was brilliant. This is my all time favorite song.
35 Years after its release, wow, sounds better than the record!!
I was named after this song as you may know from my first name being leyna
OMG, i'm going back in time....good times .
Yo my bffs name is Leyna and her parents named her after this song so I love it ❤
i love this song & singer & album
Wish he wouldn't have kept this one out of his live set for most of the late 80's and throughout the 90's. Gem of a song and it would have sounded better on tours for The Bridge, Storm Front and River Of Dreams. Took too long to bring back out.
Billy joel un monstruo de la musica
Wow, just wow. One of THE BEST that many have never heard. One of my favorites. Try to play that rag on the piano...😳

A good performance!!!
I was so convinced bon jovi stole the beginning for run away.... i still think so. One of my faves. Of ever.

A long time ago I joint aan book club called eci. Every monty you had tot make one purchase. At first Ik didn't know what to pick. After long deliberation I close the album glass houses by Billy Joel. Boy did I do good. It's the best damn album I ever bought!
A
Autocue sucks.
GOD... is he good live or what
Billy Joel Rocks! :-)
One great-unpretentious-overlooked-new wave feel-groovy tune! By far the best piece in the Glass Houses album.
There’s a sort of “Cold as ice” feel in it, btw. Unconsciously?
me compré el álbum Glass Houses solo x esta canción!!!😃😃😃
Anyone notice the little Morse code SOS rhythm he throws in. Eg, 2:25. He repeats it throughout the piece. I onced asked him about it and he was like, yeah? You actually noticed that?
OMG! You're right! I've been listening to this song for 40 years and I never realized that. Thanks for pointing that out! 👍
more videos about this concert please!!!!! =)
My brother (German) understood "Affenleder" (ape leather) instead of "All for Leyna" when listening to that song.😅 For me, it's one of the best by Billy Joel. I would like to play it in my covers band, but we don't have a keyboard player.
this is great, thank you...
Ecxelente tema todo un clasico q nunca pasara de moda
Best song by far
So great.
Always loved the part how can a man take anymoooorre
I say Billy is the greatest American song writer of all time based on sheer quality and catalog of songs! Runners up: Irving Berlin and Stevie Wonder
chaque fois que j'entends cette chanson, je pense à la fille d'une de mes amies, Veronique !
leyna c'est pour toi ma grande !!!
This crowd had no fucking clue what they were about to hear!
One of the reasons why I love this song is because it sounds like it was written for the 2000s, it was way ahead of its time. The drum groove, the synth line, the emo-rock chorus, it's so good.
lol - at 16, this was my favorite song!
Oh my he is sooooooo funny. 😂😂😂😂
Why didn’t they play this in San Antonio Oct 25 2024😭😭😭
Superb.
What a cracking band he’s got!!!
I love this song...and by the way, that bass player is great.
I like the little bit of star wars at the start. It shows he's a fan too, being that he learnt the music to the films
Yo se la dedico, pero así: "All For Iliana" 💔😢😍🎶🎸👍👍👍
All of the deep cuts on Glass Houses are better than the hits. All for Layna, Sleeping the Television on, Through the Long Night, C'etait Toi (You Were The One), Sometimes a Fantasy etc...
couldn't agree more
A song for the broken hearted
I often preferred BJ's songs that were NOT marketed as singles. Yeah, this was one of them.
immortal
Hell yes gods of Olympus cracked it up a tempo or two but exactly how it should be
What's he playing at 0:30 ?...i know that melody but can't remember from where...
***** STAR WARS theme
Wario Joel Thanks!
+Wario Joel And then whoever was on synth responded with "Close Encounters..."
Star Wars theme
all for lyana
Ja !!! :-)
Now, I'm in my room

Watching TH-cam !!!
Hey Mesic, they did hot Air Balloons (plastic bags with paraffin balls) at Billy Joel.
チョーカッケー!
Whole step down from the record - not bad considering it's 35 years later so his voice was close enough :-) Drums and Bass are better here than what was played on the original recording! -
