I loved There, There. I hope you like it! I loved Sula also! Good luck with all your goals! I love that you highlighted some readathons! I'm always looking for more to join!
Wow! A lot of thought went into this goals planning of 2024! I hope and wish you to accomplish all, if not most of them. A lot of those prompts sound really cool. I may have to check some out for sure. Nice video! Love the natural hair too!🤗
I hope you have a great 2024! I definitely need to use my local library more because its literally around the corner from my house! Lovely to meet you, hopefully sprint with you again soon!💗
Great goals! For your King and queens histora-thon, I will recommend "She Would Be King" by Wayetu Moore. It is historical fiction, magic realism and YA but more importantly a retelling of Liberia’s formation. Like you, I am a big believer in the local library. While my physical TBR is in the 100s, I still borrow from the library, especially the new release shelves. It scratches the "latest book hype" itch without hitting my pocket book. I ONLY buy my books used (reduce, reuse...), so Indie booksellers is a must (plus they are finance-friendly). Love your ideas. I am surprised on your Toni Morrison selection... partly because of your "no spice" restriction. Americans rave over and love _Beloved_ but my favorite is _Song of Solomon_ followed by _The Bluest Eye_. _Sula_ is good, and I would like to hear more people discuss Morrison's earlier works.
I’ve never heard of She Would Be King but all this things you mentioned sound like it’ll be my cup of tea! (: Yes for a fellow library patron! A friend on IG shared how much money she saved using the library this year and I’d love to do the same lol Oh no! Does Sula have a lot of spice? I’m okay with reading books with spice as long as it’s not the main focus of the book.
Those are some solid goals. I hope you have a good time reaching them. I'm still formulating my plans for 2024, but I'll put up a video on that soon. As far as Sula goes, it's my favorite of Morrison's books, and I've taught it before, too.
Of all the booktube videos I have watched, I have never seen anyone mention a Morrison novel. Sula is one of my favorites as well, but my number 1 has to be Beloved. I too teach Morrison; her novels are the subject of my dissertation.
@@michellehenry5019 I hope your dissertation goes well. I know I haven't mentioned Morrison in my videos, but I have taught several of them in my day job as a professor.
Thank you for replying. I tend to talk about my dissertation in the present tense. I think it's a form of PTSD. I finished several years ago. I am an English prof as well. So good to meet you here on Book Tube!@@PeculiarNotions

Looking forward to reading those even more based on your recommendations.
The readathons sound fun! I'm doing something a bit different this year and intending to read 1-2 books per month (while re-reading)
I love rereading and need to do that more.

Aww thanks for the kind words! I hope I’m not overachieving with my goals. 😂 I loved the reading everybody black challenge!

Thank you! Same to you!! It was lovely meeting you as well! Hoping to host a sprint in the next few weeks 😊

These are some great goals, good luck ☺ I'm hoping to read the Ember in the Ashes this year as well ☺
Thank you!!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Wow really?! Another endorsement of Sula! This makes me so happy.
Wow! I’m so happy to see the Morrison love. I really hope I enjoy Sula and eventually Beloved 🤗
