- The definition of a Boat Anchor radio is a radio that weighs enough that it could be used as a boat anchor.
Yah, I know, it all depends on the size of the boat. I think the cutoff point is around 30 pounds so any radio in that vicinity or greater could be considered a Boat Anchor Radio.
Additionally, the expression Boat Anchor typically only applies to amateur radios of the tube era. I know there are some old broadcast radios in hardwood cabinets that could not only anchor a boat, but could possibly sink it! - Jims Antique Radio Museum
I'm an Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love the hobby and experimenting with radios, antennas and software. I have a lot of fun. On my TH-cam channel I upload videos mostly on the Icom 7300 and Icom 7610 as well as Ham Radio software programs. I hope to inspire people to get involved in Amateur Radio.

Yes there was some serious Boat Anchor action out there. Thanks for Sharing. and yes the soothing music only at the end was a nice touch to help unwind. Vic de KE8JWE
Nice to hear from you Vic and thanks for commenting here. Vry73!
Rich,
Quite interesting.
The last three minutes or so of the video contain no video imagery - just music.
Thanks Fred that one got away from me. Vry73!
$750 for a TR-7A! That sounds a bit extreme. I have one with power supply that I got from an estate for $100
It’s good to hear from you. You got a steal! I’ll bet on eBay they go for$850 or more with the PSU. 73 and good DX! de Rich KØPIR
My experience is these people really don't wan to sell things. If they did then they won't have anything to sell next year. It's almost like a club out there, some told me they don't actually go into the convention.
It's good to hear from you Larry and thanks for commenting. 73!
