Oh I have found someone who gets the vintage cookbook love! That American Women's Cookbook, I adore what you did there! I have a lot of vintage cookbooks, and want to make them a place to store recipes, kitchen hints, whatever....now I know what direction to go! Thank you so much !!!!!!! Sandy
Thank you, Hanna! I love your work, as well. Your collage-a-day series you did a few years back with paper scraps had a profound effect on my. xoxo- gina
Wow! Love love LOVE these! I hope you can make or maybe you have made a video showing you working on your journals. I really like to watch and hear the process of putting them together. These are amazing!
I have the same Women's Home Companion Cookbook copyright 1942. It was my mothers and very well used. The cover is in not so great condition and the pages are falling out. I had planned on turning it into a "Cookbook JJ" before I saw this video. I had no idea it was a collectible. If I had known I would have taken better care of it through the years. I actually want it to be an actual cookbook of all my fav recipes & memorabilia. My mom told me it was a gift along with a set of crockery bowls when you purchased a new fridge. Thx for sharing dear.
Love this...again! I've got the Betty Crocker Cookbook. It was a wedding present 43 years ago! Her recipes always "work"! (I don't have "little-old-lady handwriting" LOL! Love to hear you tell about the books!)
You have been busy! All so awesome. Funny thing..........My dog heard your dog barking and he ran to the window and was looking for the dog. He couldn't find one, so he barked anyway. LOL
LOL! They remind me of my grandmas, too:-) So much nostalgia lately! The old wallpaper, the 80s stickers you found, the Little Golden Books, and the old cookbooks. Loving it!
I am like a junkie waiting desperately for my next rebookery video. Thanks for posting!! How is it you are managing to sew fabric onto the book covers? Please post a video of you making the covers and pages for your journals.
Hi! Thank you for the sweet words. They made me giggle! I sew on thin book covers very slowly and carefully. I'm pretty sure my machine hates me and is looking for a new owner. I am so hard on it. xoxo- gina
Gina! These are amazing! Love them all so much! I'm always in awe of your beautiful creations. The big one is to die for 😬😬. So much inspiration ❤️❤️ hugs! Christy
Oh my gosh, oh so much goodness! Must touch. Want so much to touch all of these pages and textures. How do I keep myself from purchasing another?? Ha! I take Otis with me to the PO, too. ❤💕
I love these! Especially the last one from the children's book. Hope I'm fortunate enough to be able to get it when you put them on Etsy. You are very creative.
Oh Oh Oh! So EXCITED! I love these creations! I spy with my little eyes...2 journals I REALLY want! Do you do lay-a-way or 60 days same as cash? HA-HA!
Dearest Gina, how exciting that you are doing these!!! Wow!!! Love these!!! I have my mom’s old Betty Crocker cookbook that is very vintage. I might try to re-purpose it!!! Love the use of fabric triangles!!! My sister is going to Houston Quilt Market and I am going to see if I can get her to get me some scraps while she is there. Love these!!!
Gina, how did you do the ends of the thread sticking out on the American Woman's Cookbook? That is such a nice effect. (The one that you had to redo the spine...)

Beautiful work! Can you tell me what the gold shimmer sealant is? It's so subtle and lovely.
Sure! I covered it with Tulip Metallics paint - gold (craft paint) then sprayed it with Rustoleum Matte Sealant (spray paint).

Gina, how did you do the ends of the thread sticking out on the American Woman's Cookbook? That is such a nice effect. (The one that you had to redo the spine...)
And, what kind of thread is that? It looks like embroidery thread....???
I just left the threads after I sewed the pages in. It us just regular sewing thread.

gina
Did you use the spiral bound or the pamphlet style It's Fun to Cook Book?? Ive been eyeing that book on ebay and amazon.
I used my Zutter Bind-it all to bind that book. It is a really sweet book. You would love it.
;)

gina
What kind of thread do you bund your journals with?
Hi, are you stitching on chipboard?
This may sound stupid but how do you glue two pages together? Just around the edge, glue all over?
Hi, Not stupid...I glue all over the page if I want it to be smooth. I use a spray adhesive like Elmers Craft Spray.
Did these sell out?
Yes, they did. I will be adding more journals to my shop on Saturday, December 2nd.
