Kimura said that he'd retire if his loss was satisfying. He came out of retirement because he realized that it wasn't satisfying losing that way. Also, Aoki is a jumping frog while Kimura is a jumping fish.

The big reason Mashiba refused to stay in the ring was because he recognized that it was only Kimura passing out that let him keep the belt. If Kimura followed through, it would be a counter punch and he would have taken the belt from Mashiba. This fight no only ruined his perfect chance at the world, but didn't even let him leave as the true victor of the fight. Only the last man awake.
Every grown ass man that i know cried like a baby at the end of the fight, including me, and including you guys. That fight was one of the best in the series, and yuuzora no kamihikouki make all the moments way 2 emotional lol
Kimura became my favourite character after first watching the OVA, I was so excited to see you guy react to it. I really hope he truly becomes a champion.

Love the track starting around 15:48. The title of it is " Arayashiki". Every time I listen to it that scene of Kimura practicing the Dragon Fish Blow plays in my head.
Kimura employed a strategy made famous by Muhammad Ali, the rope-a-dope. He let Mashiba beat on him from rounds and then attacked when he got tired. I'm so glad they did start to put more focus on the surrounding cast as is continued. This OVA goes to show how detailed Morikawa's boxing knowledge goes.

unfortunately... even though Mashiba wants a rematch against Ippo.. he can't do that right away, right? mainly because of his weight class different with Ippo (Ippo is feather weight, and mashiba is junior light weight)

Kimura's voice actor, Keiji Fujiwara, passed away 2 weeks ago. This is pretty timely as I feel it's one of his best performances.
