Boy am I certainly glad the author took the time to highlight the Dark Angel's desire to save guardsmen. A chapter known for its concern for the baseline citizen. And those Grey Knights /definitely/ left the crew of the Revenge alive.
'Blood red rain started pouring from the sky, of coarse' I like that this was said like it was a minor detail stated only for the sake of completionism because how supposedly obvious it would be the case.
I love watching your videos late at night when I can't sleep. The content is interesting and engaging, but your voice is soothing enough for me to fall asleep after a video or two. Often times I wake up and it still has your videos that have been running for 8 hours straight and I'll watch a new video to start the day.
Honestly the most accurate thing about this was the Dark Angels and Grey Knights coming in hard and fast with advanced tech and amazing Psykers to make jumping in so close and wreck the Chaos forces and the end where the Dark Angels use orbital bombardment to slaughter the Chaos Deamons and wreck they forces. Honestly making the Imperial Navy commander a idiot and then Azriel acting like a Salamander to protect Civilians instead of taking it to Abbadon is weird. At most he would attacks a few Dozen elites to call in orbital strikes to defent the holdouts and the rest would attack the portal with the Grey Knights.
I like to think this novel is a prime example of unreliable narrator in 40k. Things got so hectic that events got confused, overwritten or straight up fabricated leading to the mess we know of today
That reminded me of some of the TH-cam videos my boys watch when the videos are trying to be all epic and fantastical but the creators aren't the best writers. At least that's the vibe I got.
My favorite part of your videos is always the interjections. "God I fucking hate that sled. I took a break from Warhammer for a couple years, and I come back, and Grimnar's rollin about on a sled like he's fuckin' father Christmas" got me to audibly laugh at work once.
@@ABorderPrince using the worst tactic possible, leaving the carriers exposed and making the fighters fly even further than if he had kept them with the main fleet is certainly lacking guile.
yes we all know what is going to happen to the crew- they all get an all expenses paid trip to a pleasure world to get over the shock of seeing Grey Knights and Demons for the first time.
Is the upcoming Blackstone Fortress video about the novels linked to the warhammer quest boardgame? Ascension has some really nice content which would make a really interesting video. Thanks for the uploads, they are great!
@@ABorderPrince Yeah I really liked it, a lot of funky stuff in there. The first book was a bit expectable, nice as background lore for the whquest boardgame. Ascenion offered a lot of interesting and crazy stuff. There is a white dwarf (november 2019) short story on the Tinkerer in Inquisitor Loramon Valirs retinue (might be a different Jokaero as they all love tinkering). He also pops up in white dwarf (march 2020) where you get a quest to unlock him as a retinue character. They detail the spaceship a bit in the No Respite expansion 2. I love how they all went on strike when the Tinkerer was missing, and how they have set up a trading operation and a medical bay. The Tinkerer is possibly one of my favourite characters in Ascension.
Wow, this really was something. And to tip it off, during the Heresy a demon lured an Isstvan massacre escapee cruiser to this planet and everyone died. Including a certain Atticus. And nobody knew anything about the events. So literally none of this makes a shred of sense, not even the names of the places.
I loved the video, ESPECIALLY the editors notes, I would just run with it, act like the guy getting the report and respond back demanded a reconfirmation of the troop numbers, opposing force, really call out the author
"You know what'll happen the crew." Yes, Grey knights can't leave any witnesses to their existence, at least outside Space Marine chapters (which may be mind wiped). But then the ship seems to still be crewed, so what did happen? Did only a few actually see the Knights and were culled? Or is it that they may not be recognizeable as more than an elite Space Marine Strike team of some sort to most other Imperium forces? Being Psykers maybe they can shield their appearance from most people and only need to cull a few?
Im super excited for the new Arks of Omen books, but what stories (if any) should we read beforehand?. Side note, I’ve been interested in 40K since about 2nd Ed. But could never get into it. Thanks to your channel , I am now diving head first into 40k. - have read some gaunt’s ghosts, last chancers some random shorts, and now fully starting to love horus heresy.

Is there a way to reach out to "suggest" certain lore and book coverage? How do we "donate" books for you to do suggested readings? Other than the comment section how can I reach out to cover several things?
Canon: Dark Angels saved guardsmen!!! Real Canon: Dark Angels made an effort to protect the guardsmen they were planning to "borrow" for information. At an unspecified time and place.
To be honest, the person most qualified to critique any of the 40K novels and novelettes is probably ABP because he reads them all and knows what he’s talking about better than anyone.
ive just finished reading Pandorax about a week ago it was one of my fave reads up to now it was boss !! dark angels and grey nights even the fucking terminator ! and the lovely catachans . ive been reading and collecting the legends series in hardback im on book 27 fear to tread today and last night i finished book 22 ahriman sorcerer i still like the pointy nose ones ..
Oh no we know about this massive hugely stable warp portal on this planet we totally shouldnt set up a greynight watch fortress or a ordo malleus bastion
"it lacked guile" I think that is a way to say it was by the book not taking advantage of system or things like needing refuel... It was obviously not scouted either. So lacking "guile" is just saying he was a basic bitch and got it handed to him on a plate.
I've never understood why the grey knights never leave witnesses. I mean as far as elite soldiers go, they kick ass, all ass. Friend or foe. Realistically they only banish dark forces and kill everything, including what they were saving.
meant for this to be up sooner but got delayed. try and have some more stuff out before christmas but busy time for me with family IRL stuff. Cheers
Being a dad is serious stuff, mate. All the best.
Thanks for your work, friend!
Just found out you're gonna be a father. Congrats man and thanks for all the hours of entertainment!
At one point I could feel the "press X to doubt" creep in your delivery. Loved it
Wishing you and your family a great holiday! Good luck with everything!
ABP really elevating the more shoddy aspects of the lore with his in character hate reading. I really enjoyed that framing.
lol, you and I had the exact same comment and we both even used "ABP", well met Merek 😁
Agreed 100% 👍👍👍
thanks
"Be honest with me."
"Alright lord Azrael. I'm part of the inquisition and the baneblade is piloted by a Xeno simian."

Your reading is a work of genius, making even the worst lore fun and enjoyable. Marvelous.
thanks man
I especially love the sceptic undertone of the narator.
Because of course.

You had me laughing when the the Dark Angels came through the warp.

The editor's notes make this upload. Well played Aborder Prince!!!

Ok its been a while. Listen man: this is a great format and you should hateread more. We'll listen over and over.

Listening to your first 10 minutes of narration makes me wish I had never read this one so I could enjoy it for the first time all over again

ABP's sassy comments are killing me.

@@Unit-kp8wm non of that was mentioned in the original story. So where did the information come from?
its odd like the authors didnt understand the lore or how things work
ahh yes this was all confusing to me at the time. bad writing i felt.
I hope everything with the son is going well, you'll be a good parent and will wait here for you to make good warhammer videos
thank you
None of the Imperial crew were harmed in this battle.

Another excellent lore nugget from ABP! My favourite time of the week
thanks
Thanks for the company, hope you have a great winter

No apologies necessary… listening to you trying to wrap your head around this made the book much more enjoyable. Thanks again
This really felt like Inquisitor A. B. Prince being forced to read someone’s shitty fanfiction-

i think i did read the novel, but didnt enjoy it. still this is cannon now so this is the version.
Really enjoying the snark re in lore inconsistencies or silly Ness.

The narration commentary is why we are here.... brilliant.
Absolutely love the relevant inquisition comments, “of course he did”.

i read the actual lore from the book warzone pandorax. this is the lore.
@@ABorderPrince Ah. I for some reason thought it was a novel
