With some ripped up shorts/tunic/skirt. maybe something more modest for the movie. But the rest a definite yes. Would have loved some flowey symbiote effects for the robes. Christian bale can still have FaceTime. Just have a more monster like face pop in when he gets angry.
Im fine with the “cape” since its supposed to be a symbiote taking the general shape of a cloak. I think the body is the only down side of this figure imo. Especially since they made him a plantigrade as opposed to a digitigrade like he is in the comics. The ankles and lower legs are such a letdown
He was one of my favorite figures of last year. I love both headsculpts and paint, the swordhand, symbiote lines and the cape. There is just something that really resonates with me, especially the tentacle head with the cape/ scarf, just really does it for me.
@@sigerlion8608they are actually making the figures out of the goodness of their hearts and simply ask for a small $30 donation to off-set some of their costs
I think the thing that upsets me the most about this figure is that they fucked up the lower legs. He’s supposed to be digitigrade. Also, I get what they were trying to do with the cloak since it’s a symbiote, but to me that just makes it more upsetting that it’s not malleable in any way or at least a bit more dynamic. Poor plastic choice, and honestly an alternate cloak piece would have been cool. It’s unfortunate because he’s such a great character. I’m not the biggest Thor person either, but the whole arc with Gorr the God Butcher was so ridiculously good.
This figure would be much better if his body was at least sculpted really well. Think about all of the other ML figures that reuse essential *this* same body mold; imagine how much better those figures would be if this body was sculpted properly. If hasbro's reused ML bodies were all sculpted with the right proportions/anatomy to begin with, *so* *many* of their figures would be *so* *much* *more* *appealing.*
So after this week’s sales, I am hard pressed to think of a single Marvel Legend that was released in 2023 that couldn’t be had at some point during the year, with a modicum of effort, for at least 35% off the retail price. That includes the latest Marvel Knights and Disney Plus waves. How is this sustainable? I know Hasbro is making their money up front from the retailers, so they’re feeling no pain, but aren’t the retailers going to stop buying at some point, or are wholesale prices so low that the retailers are still netting a profit between the units shifted at full retail and the units shifted at clearance prices?
Feet and lower legs don’t look accurate to the source material or am I wrong? It’s been a while since I’ve read this series but it’s some of Jason Aaron’s & Esad Ribic’s best work.
@@chewymew That’s what I thought. Thanks for confirming it. How does that happen?! How does Hasbro do a figure based on comics artwork and not do it properly? And collectors still fork over $30 willingly? Unbelievable.
@scottpiper6135 Sure. And I don't think Hasbro has any raptor legs parts to reuse, and apparently, they can't be bothered to actually sculpt anything anymore. I think Hasbro's figures made like this only appeal to people looking for that character just to fill a spot, regardless of the price
In some images he looks like he has human legs, bet Hasbro watched those and didn't bother to investigate more and even if they did the legs were out of the question for them to begin with; sadly is not that much of a popular villain to make a new sculpt, shame because is one of my favs. I got him for $12 so at least there is that (and the nice head sculpts lol). @@chewymew
I got him this year a few months ago for 12 bucks and for one of my favorite villains that will hardly get another release in the line or in any other line I think I'm satisfied for the price I got him, could be better for sure, a custom cape and maybe some wash could improve it from this base. PS. I remember his legs being raptor like in some images but also looked human like sometimes, I looked at the old comic images before writing this and yes, as I remembered some images make him look like he has human legs and of course I'm sure Hasbro didn't even consider the raptor legs since these were obviously cheaper to use, but oh well...
I wake up for a while and finally got this figure at around $20 when it went on sale about four months ago. Even at a discount, it really is just OK. I agree, that cape is really annoying.
Would you consider doing a tutorial on how ball pegs and joints should be made/work? Perhaps a comparison of figures and/or possibly an in depth tutorial showing what ball pegs and joints should look like underneath an action figure? I just ask because every time I watch your videos, I just wonder why Hasbro, McFarlane and some do what they do lol..I know I probably can TH-cam it but I enjoy your content more lol
The headsculpts are indeed awesome. I'm fine with the shape of the cape because its supposed to be symbiotic. But the plastic is definitely too hard, should be pliable for better posing. The body could definitely be better but its not too bad. So i recommend this figure if you can find it for $20 or less.
I got this guy, he’s great in my opinion especially after I added hot glue the black markings and added light gray over the body and got a bendable cape. It makes him look so much better. I do plan on cut the front hair front off and repositioning it behind the head
Great objective review as always! I wonder if that upper body is the one they used for the Namor body which had a similar nonsensical muscular structure…
I swear for the life of me. Some people complain about the ODDEST things when it comes to Action figures and toys. Things like the quality of plastic they use. And how the anatomy on a NON HUMAN, FICTIONAL CHARACTER should look. Or ... Maybe it's just me. Maybe it doesn't take a lot to please me when it comes to my toys. The closest it looks to the comic or art work. The more articulations the better. So I can pose my figures as dynamic as possible. And if everything is in proper scale or as close to it as possible. Nothing looks out of place or out of proportion....... IM HAPPY!🤷🏿♂️
I think the reason we get figures like this, where the head is done so well but the rest of the body is bland is, well, I think a few reasons. 1. They know the bodies will be reused so much that they keep it as generic as possible and forgo any possible detail or definition. 2. The body was sculpted 10 years ago but the face was sculpted this year. So you end up with a face that doesn't match the body in the slightest and it looks like it was made by 2 different artists because it was made by 2 different artists. I have this problem with Legends all the time and it's obvious on a lot of their figures. There should be more oversight and direction from Hasbro to ensure their head sculptors aren't packing in so many details and expression into the head when the body has virtually 0
I agree about Hasbro making good headsculpts way more consistently compared to anything else. I got Shriek and used her head on my custom body, and used her body for a Mary Jane custom using that MJ head that came with Retro Gwen. In a way, it's kind of good Hasbro doesn't try at all on their bodies, it just means even less incentive to buy their figures. I'd much rather get scalped on eBay buying McFarlane Spider-Man and be infinitely more happy over being disappointed with a Hasbro figure
Thor: God of Thunder is the comic book Gorr the God Butcher debuted in. Thor: God of Thunder #1-11. It's a great story. Thor: Love and Thunder was the film. Avoid that. Hope this helps from a Great Britain fan of your channel.
To me this was the most underwhelming Marvel Legend of last year, only because the great things about it emphasise its issues to me more so than most figures in the line do. Tubular is a perfect way to describe this figure's proportions, he looks awkward standing straight up and down, and because of the cloak sculpt it's a pain to get him in any interesting dynamic pose, plus the lack of neck range really limits that as well. It has some great head sculpts but that's about it, for me I keep him a bit further back on my shelf, let some shadows hit him and behind a few other figures he looks a lot better than he actually is.
Thor Love and Thunder was such an atrocious deviation from the comic book story (source material) that it should have been a completely different new and unique villain. Hard plastic for capes, soft gummy plastic for weapons.👍 His underdraws would have looked much better as a "diaper" rather than painted on with it broken by his waist cut... oh yeah and as several posters pointed out, digitigrade legs... what a fail. But yeah, both head sculpts are amazing.
I give gorr a scale of 6 out of 10. I hate how flimsy his sword is, his cape is too hard, and it would be sick if he had another accessory of his sword that could be put in his hand.
I didn't get this figure. I'm kind of retro. I shoot for 80's and 90's mostly. But I also will get stuff from the 2000;s. I don't really do modern. But have made rare acceptations like Elektra as Daredevil. So I don't know much about this character. But I have seen comic picks of him and they totally jacked up his feet and legs to the point I feel bad for people who really wanted this guy as a figure.
This is how he should’ve looked in the movie.
They wanted to give Bale his face time.

To me, Gorr’s character aesthetic is some weird amalgamation of these characters:
Frieza + Voldemort + Emperor Palpatine = Gorr

the cost must be so low to make them
That head being on a simpler body is a reminder of how isolated the body parts feel for aesthetics
Feet and lower legs don’t look accurate to the source material or am I wrong? It’s been a while since I’ve read this series but it’s some of Jason Aaron’s & Esad Ribic’s best work.

Gorr is wearing a symbiote. All the black is a symbiote. It's coming from the sword. That's Knull's sword,"The All Black",and it generates symbiotes.
