    Totally agree!! You are a great communicator and translator of knowledge Jon. I'm a spaniard from the Canary Islands, turning 55 son Sunday and on these quarantine I decided to reach a long lasted dream of discovering this magic instrument and I found your tips and tutorials. Many others are there but man, you did make me feel the energy and focus on the BEAT.. Thank you so much for this huge present and contribution to my joy.

    I've watched a lot of beginner videos on harp playing and watching 2 of your videos has helped me put it together enough not to sound like a beginner .
    Thanks Jon you've put a smile on my face and took the plugs outa my neighbors ears .

    Jon -- GREAT lesson! I attended Jam Camp in Clarksdale in 2018, and that was great fun. And this is the best 26 min and 46 sec I've spent thinking about my harp playing for quite a while. Thanks.

    Great lesson! Particularly the kee-koo on the 2 draw and the Q and A analogy to call and response. Thanks.

    Lately I have been getting so miffed at not being able to slide my lips across the harp, running out of breath, and my lips seem to get really tense on the harp. Which, equates to total junk in my playing and leaving me wishing I had taken up the triangle instead. Everything, and I mean everything you just talked about hits the nail on the head for me. I have been playing for maybe 6 months and frankly my playing really sucks. Why? I know now I am doing all the bad habits you mentioned. Well, looks like it is time to getting back to the basics. Thank you for the wake up call and great video.

    A great lesson. You won’t remember but you told me to stop U-Blocking and start Lip Blocking. Well I did and I also learned to Tongue Block. Thanks for your books, lessons and all you do for us want to be Harmonica Players. The harmonica has changed my life. I started at age 52 and I am still going strong at age 62.

    Thanks again for a great reminder on the key basics of good harp playing. The drum shuffle had me playing along with you. Still trying to get that breathing sorted and relaxing while playing using less air volume. The k consonant method is very useful. A real help.

    I play flute and I'm starting the harmonica your videos are helping great so far. My old music teacher taught me breathing before I ever even picked the instrument up, he said the exact same thing. He made me push a table with my stomach and there on after I could hold 20 beat notes on the flute now.

    Good to see you man!
    100 years from now, people would be frustrated beginners out on a pocket instrument which would look like a harmonica but will play like a full orchestra, and a young Gindick will have a speed run tutorial on live youtube session projected on thin air from Samsung Galaxy 520S+ running on hybrid energy from the 3rd Sun rays, split water drops and Chia seeds :)
    Oh and music notation would be written without staff, clefs and scales - only TABS :)

    Well Jon some good news and some less so ! Sometime back, after my comment (another vid) you wrote me “it’s easier than you think” !
    Oh not for me tho’...BUT I did keep trying and suddenly Eureka (yes that good) I bent a 6 hole, then lost it etc then got it etc -and now got it to 100%..anytime...
    Huge Thanks to yr advice and tuition....However I now find the two draw hard ! I seem to need more ‘power ‘ to pull it through and down K etc.
    Now it May be - I fitted new reed plates to an older harp that was finished ?? and the ‘air gaps may be too tight on hole 2 !? Or : is a 2 draw (let alone bend) MUCH harder than a six hole (c harp key) ?? You get such VOLUME and TONE on that no 2 ! I have other harps ..could I try on a G say at hole 2 and compare the air resistance (or my own !) to see if I wasted my money on the plates I inserted (to an earlier older model) Or do different keys on same holes have different playability ? A lot to ask ..maybe too much but I will persevere and always follow the Gindick pathway as my default harmonica journey, even as an old beginner ...I know you have the answers, as shown here in the ‘basics’...

    Good stuff...........how about frustrated intermediates?....lol

    • @jamcamp06
      @jamcamp06  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. My theory is that the reason an intermediate is frustrated is because he/she doesn't have these fundamentals right. Once you get the fundamentals, it becomes so much fun! Rushing ahead is a problem, especially with so much information on the tube.
