I love how Luna is much younger than Astelle and has this wisdom to say "forgive". It shows that being older not always mean being wiser in some aspects.
“Don’t you believe she should pay for all your tears..?” That is one of the most heart breaking and conflicting lines in Luna’s heart, you can tell how powerful and meaningful it is as she holds back tears from memories. Vengeance cannot bring your heart to peace.” She doesn’t deny what Astelle said, just that revenge isn’t going to help. She’s clearly still hurt over the whole ordeal. Even though she admits later in the song that it was her own fault that she got banished to the moon, it would be hard to let a thousand years of isolation and torment go, even if it was the “right option. It adds emotional complexity to Luna and I’m here for it.
I like the role reversal here. Astelle is singing Jekyll’s parts, a villain singing the good half, and Luna is singing Hyde’s parts, a protagonist singing the bad half.
You know what I love? I love how Astell is singing Jekyll’s part or the good part and Luna is singing Hyde’s part or the bad part until Astell gets super mad at Luna in the “I decide what vengeance brings” and then it switches!
There is something mesmerizing about the way this song is done. It starts with Astelle, where in the original song this would be the place of Dr Jekyll. When Luna takes her turn it's in the place of Mr Hyde's opening lines. As the song progresses the places for the singers switch over. I think I've found the slot where they did the transition and it amazes me how seamlessly it was pulled off.
for those curious the swap happens at 2:31 when Luna steps on Nightmare Moon's helm and it switches to Astelle, this is still during Mr. Hyde's portion of the song.

StarSwirl promised her power, so she stopped. Starswirl couldn't REALLY give her power, so she turned him to stone, and Celestia fought against her and banished her, but She came back as a siren.. A few years ago when I was a big fan of MLP, I loved this story. This parody type song(and sorrowful regretful) where two of my favorite songs. While I’m not really that into MLP anymore, I still love those two songs and I fell in love with the original songs because of the familiar tune. This did a lot for me, and looking back at it after all these years feels really great. Thank you for this awesome story and it’s amazing songs.

InkyStory Actually, if you think about it, Celestia really did suffer just as much as Luna did. She didn't seem to feel remorse because she isn't allowed to freely express her emotions. She had so much pressure put on her, that she couldn't possibly show the world how she was feeling. Luna is probably the only pony she can turn to whenever she feels upset, but during those 1000 years, she had no one. Granted, her special power was raising the sun, but she's pretty limited in her actual magic. Hence, that's why the supposed "permanent" spell was only temporary. Her entire purpose for founding the unicorn school was to find somepony who could SAVE LUNA. She wanted her back that much. Maybe she hadn't listened to Luna before, because Luna didn't tell her and she thought everything was fine. (I mean, I can think of a bunch of ponies that would like nighttime better than daytime.) She established a completely other castle just for the TWO OF THEM! One of the first things she said to Luna after she was herself again was: "We were meant to rule together, sister!" This pony practically moved heaven and earth for Luna. Maybe Tia really didn't care that Luna was jealous, but as soon as she was banished, she did feel remorse. She really did love Luna behind all of it. Yet people say that she was in the wrong. What about Luna? Decide to DESTROY THE WORLD instead of talking things out, and she gets PRAISED for it? Let this be a lesson to everyone: GIVE TIA A BREAK!

A few years ago when I was a big fan of MLP, I loved this story. This parody type song(and sorrowful regretful) where two of my favorite songs. While I’m not really that into MLP anymore, I still love those two songs and I fell in love with the original songs because of the familiar tune. This did a lot for me, and looking back at it after all these years feels really great. Thank you for this awesome story and it’s amazing songs.

Honestly I feel like celestia is the one suffering more than any pony. And I disagree with astelle when she's like I've suffered more than you. Just my thought.
ThunderclapStorm but Luna also understands how everypony feels and gives us advice. Luna's also been suffering too, she even punishes herself with nightmares until she forgive herself.
InkyStory Actually, if you think about it, Celestia really did suffer just as much as Luna did. She didn't seem to feel remorse because she isn't allowed to freely express her emotions. She had so much pressure put on her, that she couldn't possibly show the world how she was feeling. Luna is probably the only pony she can turn to whenever she feels upset, but during those 1000 years, she had no one. Granted, her special power was raising the sun, but she's pretty limited in her actual magic. Hence, that's why the supposed "permanent" spell was only temporary. Her entire purpose for founding the unicorn school was to find somepony who could SAVE LUNA. She wanted her back that much. Maybe she hadn't listened to Luna before, because Luna didn't tell her and she thought everything was fine. (I mean, I can think of a bunch of ponies that would like nighttime better than daytime.) She established a completely other castle just for the TWO OF THEM! One of the first things she said to Luna after she was herself again was: "We were meant to rule together, sister!" This pony practically moved heaven and earth for Luna. Maybe Tia really didn't care that Luna was jealous, but as soon as she was banished, she did feel remorse. She really did love Luna behind all of it. Yet people say that she was in the wrong. What about Luna? Decide to DESTROY THE WORLD instead of talking things out, and she gets PRAISED for it? Let this be a lesson to everyone: GIVE TIA A BREAK!
