- First time reaction to some Swiss folk metal, never heard that before Eluvietie "The Call of the Mountains" is what's on deck today, violins, bag pipes and the beautifulness that is the lead sing, Let's join Eluvititie for The Call of the Mountains now!
Eluveitie is a Swiss folk metal band from Winterthur, Zürich, founded in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann. The project's first EP, Vên, was released in 2003. Vên was a studio project of Glanzmann's, but its success led to the recruitment of a full band. The band then released a full-length album, Spirit, in June 2006.

Anna Murphy... love her vocals... Good band, they are like a swiss army knife...they are so versatile. they can break your heart and break your skull in same album
This Swiss band is one of my favourites of all time. Been huge fans since their first demo release. My favourites include the pinnacle Inis Mona, The Call of the Mountain, and Quoth the Raven, just to name a few. Inis Mona is definitely worth a first listen.
You should check out their song Rebirth. Screaming metal with a hurdygurdy... It's a wonderful time.

This particular song, No, sounds like a movie soundtrack.
I have never heard of this group but that was quite interesting....I was getting ready to write that I thought it kinda sorta sounded like Lzzy Hale collab'ed with The Hu, but Lzzy HAS collab'ed with The Hu and it was it's own thing. I am not quite sure how I would define this sound...the waters gets a little muddled when you start to throw in things like bagpipes, harps, flutes/recorders with electric guitars...maybe this would qualify as folk metal??? It is definitely grassroots in its feel.
