    When 2 cities make all the decisions for a state (Illinois) and those 2 cities have a political ideology that is the polar opposite of the rest of the state. Why would the remaining counties want to stay in that state?

    • @aidanrobertsshank2207
      @aidanrobertsshank2207 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe if they thought a little bit about it they would want to stay so that each state does not do the same thing and destroy democracy with the balance of the electoral college being completely one sided all because you don't like your neighbor🤔

      For the same reason that a couple with differences seeking a divorce is not the ideal solution.
      More unity and less division is much more ideal and is something we need more of in this country.

      As long as Idaho can pick up the tab for all that land in Oregon why not? Those conservative Oregonian women and their daughters could then enjoy the loss of freedom, autonomy and growing lack of proper medical care that women are currently enjoying in Idaho. Now if Oregon does this, we here in New York should have the right to say that we no longer want our tax dollars to fund the new greater Idaho. You can pull yourselves up by your bootstraps and be self sufficient. Seems fair to me.

    Upstate New York (including western NY where I live) and Long Island want to separate from New York City, which always controls state and federal level elections.
    Much of upstate NY and Long Island is mostly red/conservative/republican while the highly populated New York City (which as I already stated always has final say in all state and federal level elections) is mainly blue/liberal/democrat.
    Their votes seal the fate of every other NY state resident.
    We wanna split the state into 3 autonomous regions, each with its own Governor and legislative body.
    Sadly, there are those who say "Oh, New York state couldn't survive without New York City."
    To that, I say...
    Lets agree to disagree as I feel we'd be just fine without NYC.

    . . . . and so the conflict over “Representation “ continues. Even during the Constitutional Convention the point was made. The rural part of Oregon that splits off will lose a significant portion of funding that comes from the more populated part of the state. It will see the state services it has deteriorate. Remember, Idaho as a whole is a rural state that is not as well funded as Oregon. Former Oregon residents won't be happy after they join Idaho. They might also want to note that Idaho has a 6% state sales tax, Oregon doesn't have a state sales tax. My suggestion would be to work with the democrats in Salem rather than fight with them.
