It probably would've taken me a long while to solve that but once the guy asked if the coin could be left separated like that, it became quite easy. It's a shame he gave up after figuring out the biggest part of the puzzle.
I think this was the first trick that I saw and from that day on I watched every thing that you made.
This is such a good puzzle. I remember first learning it when I I started watching Scam School nearly 7 years ago. It is my favorite puzzle and never fails to get me a free drink. :-)

Oh my god I was literally thinking that. Because of the rule that you must touch at least 2 other coins with the coin you moved I figured out the whole thing entirely.
I love this gag, been doing it for years. A really nice little presentation detail is after you've won your first drink, show them move by move very slowly, then put the coins back together but ninety degrees off from the way you just showed them, this will make them start with the wrong coin and win you another beer ;^>
I stopped the video before he showed how to do it and I got it first try. It was really easy

by the way, this trick got me a free tiramisu.
I was showing my friends and the server walked up and asked what I was doing. I explained the rules, and he went to try it in the staging area. he came back and said that not only was he stumped, but the manager, chefs, bartender, and waitstaff couldn't figure it out, and the manager said on his way out to give me a dessert of my choice :D

This is the first of these puzzles that I was able to do without cheating to memory
I think I'd just throw the quarters into my furnace and melt them down... then they'd all be touching, right?
I think that'd work! Love to see a video of melting quarters down with some other stuff!
Technically doing that, every quarter would be touching two others...

I didnt try it but it wouldve been good to go backwards. You know the last move is gonna be one of the middle coins
I couldn’t figure it out until I read your comment and it clicked instantly! I wish I had figured it out before on my own though lol
depending on how you define a move, I can do it in 2 moves, or even 1. 1) move one of the 2 short diagonal of the diamond so it touches the other short diagonal quarter and one of the long diagonal quarters. It will be in a line with the other short diagonal quarter and the final long diagonal quarter. Next, move the one quarter onto the end of the line on either side, but don't let go. you've moved 2 quarters without disobeying the rules, but since you haven't finished the second move, you could claim you've only made 1 move. Then proceed to leave your finger there for the rest of the day to prove a point: that you are a stubborn wisecrack.

Well this was easy. Did it on my first try - 4 moves. (Without looking at the solution beforehand, obviously)
I just figured, since at the end only the two inner coins touch two other coins, one of those needs to be the last move. I therefore focused on getting the outer coins in place first. Then it was just a matter of completing the line.
Hey I figured it out without watching the solution first! That's one problem you need to think outside the box to solve ;)
It’s not true, because either the last one pushes the other coins out a little, or it just doesn’t touch one of the others.

I cant remember the exact trick but it had to do with penny's & making an "L" with them, I believe it was 6 pennys but I can't remember. :(

you do not have to have ALL pices together all the time. only the coin your move has to touch 2 other

Well I am happy to say that I got it. However it took me 10+ moves and a lot of starting over, but yeah. Seems impossible at the beginning but as we all saw it can be done.
