Looks awesome but as a non full time boat guy, $600 is out of my budget for an rc boat. Budget boat week has some boats that are just as fun for less than 200 and even some less than 100. This is for the serious boaters.

Cool fact but I don't think it would work that way if you scaled it up it would go same speed imo I just think only way this would be true is if water molecules air and everything was also scaled because the resistance will change big-time idk if dwbat I'm saying is true it's just my first thought

Pro Boat Zelos twin catamaran runs over 60 mph stock out of the box. It runs two 6s lipo’s .I’ve seen some videos of Zelos with aftermarket prop modifications that are hitting 80 mph.

hi guys... the sonic wake can fly to 50mph.. the blackjack costs much more and only goes to 55mph plus the blackjack does not self right and is 8s.. the sonic wake is only 6s and does self right its self... and much cheaper... if you want a very fast boat then get a geico...
She made a great point about a life jacket.. years ago I watched a guy swim out to retrieve his boat and he started drowning as soon as he got to it. Thank God there were kids playing soccer nearby . I was able to borrow their ball and kick it out close enough for him use it to swim ashore.
Hi, Guys, I recently bought an R/C boat called the INCEPTION but the ESC caught on fire & so I had to put out the fire so that the LIPO batteries didn't catch fire to but the motor shorted out to so I went online to buy another one but you can't buy the motor for the boat .So can you help me in trying to get something to replace the motor? or I have a dud boat that I paid $518.00 for nothing .?/////////////???????

I would like to see you do a review on the Self Righting Dominator. Oh and my first RC boat was the Sonic Wake. Got it after watching your review on it. Was a great first boat.
I got a red one and a black one and it got them both over 80 mph with stock electronics the only upgrade I did was put a $55 three bladed prop from oxide Marina on it I got it in 4 days and it put 15 mile an hour on my boat. I recommend running like 8,000 milliamp batteries and carve a little styrofoam out of the front so you can get them as far as you can they sound like a wild beast
Do you find that the catamaran Hill style is less stable than a V hull, meaning more likely to catch air and flip? Also I ended up buying the pro boat jet jam for our pool because of your video.
Yep, definitely want a boat more after watching videos in the last 2 days... One like this would be very cool, but I think I will start with something smaller and more "beginner" ...also more budget conscious. The ones I am looking at are the Blackjack 24, or River Jet boat... although the river jet is out of stock right now along with many of its parts... The next step up would be the self righting Sonicwake...above that is the Impulse. The Impulse is fiberglass, and has what seems to be better electronics, bit doesn't have the self righting feature... I am torn as to which to start with... any thoughts? Kinda leaning toward Sonicwake for the 1st boat... as it sits somewhere in the middle and has the self righting feature. Cheers ..
My uncle worked outside in the sun wearing baseball caps. He got cancer on the top of his ear. After the surgery, he had to wear a hat with a brim all the way around to protect his ears from exposure. I wanted to put this out there because so many RC people spend alot of time outdoors. The surgery saved his life.
Good review. I have this boat and it is fast and fun, large scale too! That being said the hull does have some flex and it’s not that stable (compared to the Miss Geico cat). A good fun boat, yes, but I would not say a great boat. Also the manual leaves out one important step for greasing the driveline, you need to take out the metal screws that attach it to the fin, not just undo the bolts inside by the motor. My copy of the manual completely missed this. Glad I figured it out and my local LHR pointed me the right direction (@nankinhobby). Good boat but a stiffer fiberglass hull and a little more weight would help a lot
I noticed how it was floating above the water in the beginning before the video started. I'm sure that this would definitely be one for the river, and y'all have more people around in case it flips again.
That's a great boat. It reminds me of when I was a teenager my dad used to bring me down to the Ottawa River where they used to run Hydroplane boat races. The real ones are as lout as F-1 cars! And some have bigger engines, I believe.
Now that's a boat. xD If it weren't for the crappy turn radius of the old shovelnosed hydrofoil I've got here, i'd be curious how it would fare against that. xD
This boat is awesome! Correct me if I’m wrong but looking at this boat’s tiny prop, wouldn’t it go faster with a larger prop? I’ve never dealt with boats before but it seems like that would really help.
It would put to much load on the brush less motor causing extra heat The motors RPM is absolutely massive the prop is specked to the motor plus weight of boat to hit maximum RPM. Bigger prop wouldn't hit max rpm causing inefficiencies like battery drain ect.

You need to move the batteries further upfront it should help keep the nose down when you get on full plane at speed

I did the math on the scale-speed and at 50℅ it's approx 80mph, at 75℅ approx 180mph and at 100℅ approx 230mph!

If it were jet boat it may work better in your favor scale up but with that one prop I never seen a single inboard boat ever pass 90

The Sonic is pretty maxed out on speed w/o upgrading the electronics. I’ve seen the bj42 do 80 with stock electrics
I love my 24" but 3" wake flips me every time I've waited 20mins 3 times to get it back..I've put more floatation In it..

You should look for a seaking combo, hobbywing also had boat esc/motor combos. Just watch carefull that it has watercooling.

Have the proboat 24 blackjack. Must have a way to reach boat when it flips which happens all the time on our busy little lake

Good review. I have this boat and it is fast and fun, large scale too! That being said the hull does have some flex and it’s not that stable (compared to the Miss Geico cat). A good fun boat, yes, but I would not say a great boat.
Also the manual leaves out one important step for greasing the driveline, you need to take out the metal screws that attach it to the fin, not just undo the bolts inside by the motor. My copy of the manual completely missed this. Glad I figured it out and my local LHR pointed me the right direction (@nankinhobby). Good boat but a stiffer fiberglass hull and a little more weight would help a lot
I have a Blackjack 29 and I love it. The old owner changed props and I'm bustin 50+ on 4s. I have yet to try 6 s on it, because it's crazy on 4s.
I noticed how it was floating above the water in the beginning before the video started. I'm sure that this would definitely be one for the river, and y'all have more people around in case it flips again.

The prop needs to be trimmed to make the nose not climb... stuffing box sounds dry also
That's a great boat. It reminds me of when I was a teenager my dad used to bring me down to the Ottawa River where they used to run Hydroplane boat races. The real ones are as lout as F-1 cars! And some have bigger engines, I believe.

This boat is awesome! Correct me if I’m wrong but looking at this boat’s tiny prop, wouldn’t it go faster with a larger prop? I’ve never dealt with boats before but it seems like that would really help.
It would put to much load on the brush less motor causing extra heat
The motors RPM is absolutely massive the prop is specked to the motor plus weight of boat to hit maximum RPM.
Bigger prop wouldn't hit max rpm causing inefficiencies like battery drain ect.
This is a great boat and Horizon has it for $600.00 plus charger an batteries you will need to buy separately:)
