Thats really fast but your running a hot setup but nowaday motor are pretty much heavy duty. I've own that similar esc 10yrs ago in my 48" mono and setup for 20s (74V) with big 370kv 12kw TP motor and run for about 3 mins, all parts are cold as if Im not running at all. Now all my boats are in the store collecting dusts.
Hello 👋🏻 Big B , I’ve been waiting for your 12s BJ 42 build, I just got the Jetstream last Saturday and it should be a blast in the streams and rivers of Northern California. 🎉
I live in the flat lands of the Netherlands the only white water I know is a little, but longish U shaped step down stream next to a dam. It saw a very nice NO walking sign just between the road and it. So I bet I will never be able to try my future jetstream there. Guess I have to build a ramp.
And to run a pack in parallel or series. The battery won't know the difference 😅 a system on 12s will require less amp draw then running on 8s. So seeing lower temps at higher voltage is possible if it's efficient.
What do you think about rc boats and salt water , stay away from jet boats ? , of course have to be extra with water proofing and corrosion but is it feasible
I don't see why it would be a issue if you keep it clean like you said. Keep water out of the inside. And flush the cooling system with fresh water after.
Oh yea I know, just had bad experiences in the past doing so. So I try to keep my packs paired up.. just something I do that has bee working out pretty good for battery longevity
I do run in salt water, but I have been having issues setting up boats, salt water getting into electronics, range issues for transmitter etc. I’m still working on an ideal setup. Time away from work, and the kids is a bit hard to come by sometimes…
Hello, i want to buy the blackjack 42 May you give me some tips on what upgrades to do first. I will be fine with it hitting 65mph. I want to stay with the stock electronics for now

What prop are you running? If the prop is to big for the electronics the esc will go into a lvc cut, because the prop is putting alot of load on the electronics causing voltage drop making the esc think it hit low voltage. Prop in combination with the overall weight of the boat, try Propping down a little bit, or you could try going down on your timing one
The prop is a stage 2 prop from boatbitz that came with the cooling and trimtabs as a set. I believe its a 4814 (2 blade) It says proboat on it but no numbers. But when I messure the prop its 48mm. Bruh I’m telling y’all, the whole problem with the 42 is it’s under powered that’s why it flips so bad. More power keeps the nose where you want it, DOWN. And pretty sure your heat issue is that cooling jacket, that’s way too short, not enough can is covered
I can't find any jackets longer than 73mm. That's what I'm currently running. I considered using two 40s jackets, but it'll be pushing fitment? Guess I could make a custom jacket 🤔
So... you were not near full throttle... 1400kv on 8s are already reasonable rpm's (with a bigger prop). Lets see what happens on 12s, looks bit crazy to me, but when you don't try you won't know... Or its totally nuts and crazy fast or........
Kv for Kv? If its true kv rating then regardless of the copper its should turn the same rpm per volt. You lost me on that. If it turns any different speed then the kv rating is wrong.
On paper yea, it should turn the same rpm, but real world is a whole different animal. Take a surpass rocket 4082 2000kv and a tppower 4060cn (4082) 2000kv.. Which motor is gonna be faster? The tppower motor will be! Everything the same, the only difference is brand. Copper in a motor makes a huge difference with a motors performance.. This is my opinion. I've tested lo lots of different motor over the years, just speaking from my own experiences.
@IRONCLADRC ok I do get what you are saying. But if one motor turns faster then the other. Then they are not matching kv. Kv is rpm per volt. Say 1100kv is 1100kv. If it spins faster then that then its not 1100kv.
@IRONCLADRC maybe you're thinking about more torque? Because if both are 2000kv then they both should spin the same speed. Torque will get you to speed faster. But then too you have to consider poles then. 4 pole 6 pole. 6 pole will turn rpm faster but less torque.
The key word in this argument is "should" in theory they "should" turn the same rpm per volt. They "should" have the same torque. If both motors are the same, the only difference is brand/material right. On paper like I said yea, but in a boat it's a different story. The point is that material, (copper, magnets) a brushless motor, is constructed from makes a huge difference torque, rpm, heat Dissipation etc. I've even gotten the same exact motor, and one motor be a consistent 3-5mph faster than the other... Same motor in every way, the manufacturer possibly used a different stock of materials in the build process, causing one to outperform the other. Just saying
@IRONCLADRC what it comes down to is how efficient the motor is. They key is to find where the motor makes its best power. Adding volts to make it spin faster isn't always the best option because the motor because less efficient and more heat.
