    This is so helpful! I've only had my machine and walking foot for a couple of months, and I've been afraid to use this foot because it looks so complicated. Now that I'm nearly finished with my first quilt, it's time to figure it out, and you've helped me immensely. Thank you so much! You've taken a lot of the fear away. I love your videos!

    Shelly, my duel feed machine is in for service and my 335 is not grabbing the fabric equally. Hence, go to Shelly. I haven’t used a walking foot in ages. Your instruction was excellent. Miss your classes.

    Shelly always adds points in addition to her subject that are golden! Here, for instance, getting the thread under the foot and presser foot pressure change. And look at her ease putting that walking foot on! Great video.

      I always REALLY enjoy your videos! I’m binge watching/listening to them again as I’m cutting out a baby quilt. I have to study the embroidery & cut tool ones in front of the TV, but it’s always good to re-hear your tips. If you teach classes, I’ll bet your students are now expert happy quilters!

    Well. I’ve learnt something new today. I’ve had walking feet for all my Bernina’s since the 70’s and I’ve never been shown how to put them on and I’ve always put them on with my left hand. Soooo much easier with the right hand. Thank you Shelly.

    Any input about the aftermarket walking feet kits out there? The Quilters out there - let me know? Thanks. The one I bought 40 years ago works on my Necchi, White & Slant 401.

      Your BERNINA dealer can get a walking foot for the 930. Actually any of the feet can be purchased for the older machines. I still love my 930. She is a workhorse.

    Hi great video, just a quick question, can we use the walking foot instead of the blindstitch foot #5? the walking foot has 3 type of attachments. I have a bernina 1008. Is it worth me investing in the blind stitch foot or will the walking foot suffice? Thanks so much.

    • @SewShelly

    I mostly sew knits & wondered if there is any markings on the walking foot that help you achieve a 1/4 inch seam allowance?

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes! one of the lines on the foot is 1/4 inch. just get your measuring tape or ruler to decide which one it is. It is marked both to the left and the right.

    • @SewShelly

      If you have one that would be great. I do not have one for my 9mm machine and have no issues. It is nice to have the smallest opening for control of the fabric.

    If I have a BSR do I still need a Walking Foot? I have the 770 QE … thank you!

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. It is for a different style of stitching. The BSR is for free motion quilting with the feed dogs down. The walking foot is for 3 or more layers with the feed dogs up.

    Hello, I am trying to find a part for my wife. She has a walking foot #50 and needs a part. I guess you would call it a connector for the seam guides? It looks like a squared off horse shoe with a screw on it. I'm new on TH-cam and cannot figure out how to put a picture here. Thanks for any help someone can give me.

    • @SewShelly

      I assume everything can break. I would just make sure that you are hooking the fork of the walking foot over the needle bar so that it raises and lowers making the foot walk.

    Does New Style mean that it will work with dual feed with the guides out to the side?

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The new walking feet came out 4 or 5 years ago and the seam guides work well with the dual feed machines. You can tell if the one you have is new or old by how.many soles are with the foot. New had 3 total including the one on the foot and the old style has 2 total including the one on the foot.

I have used it to try to attach my walking foot to my machine, I have accounted a problem my walking foot has the little node only on the left side, I need it on the right.
