You have a walking range of 80 miles, think of a map of England put the compass point on your town and draw a circle with a radius of 80 miles, you could get home from anywhere in that circle. I've got health issues due to spine issues ,I've built mine up to 3 miles over the last few years from zero.
Great effort mate. Makes you think about just how much we take for granted these days doesn't it. Walking 80 miles is a huge effort, a horse and cart would take quite a while but we jump in a car and do it easily in an hour or two. Same thing with International travel when comparing air travel to past methods.
A very determined effort, well done. It just goes to show that multiday hikes are difficult enough but can become even more challenging in poor weather such as wintertime and in what could be a non permissive environment, which could mean night time navigation and laying up during the daytime, that is unsupported with little access to food and water along the get home route hike. Even river crossing might be required because brigdes are natural choke points for security lockdowns by the authorities may even be required.
Good effort on your tab mate... I was at Barden Tower on the 26th Aug...the 'castle' you walked past on the first leg..there was a wedding on there at the time..the Priest's House is a private venue but the Tower is open to the public..although you can't actually go in it.
80 miles is tremendous in 4 days. Massive respect mate. Jack won't be forgotten , love to his family.
You are an inspiration Mike, you should be very proud of yourself.
