1:11 "Reading the timetable books" Nostalgia hit hard there. I can still feel my childhood's excitement when I used to go through the timetable books looking for trains to my native place for summer vacations, then immediately speeding off to the reservation counter, filling up the form, standing in long queues and ultimately the relief on getting *confirmed* tickets at the counter. Lost, but never forgotten, simple days.
You had done very hard job without missing a tunnel n bridge with perfect angles n You must be rewarded by railway for promoting tourism in North Eastern Region of India 🙏🙏♥️ for vdo 🙏🇮🇳
Informative narration and beautifully filmed. What a feat of engineering this line represents. I'm a great fan of Indian Railways having travelled on the Darjeeling Mail between Kolkata Sealdah and NJP Siliguri on a number of occasions.
I fell in love with Indian train travel almost 30 years ago. This video is so evocative and informative, and obviously made by a fellow lover of Indian trains. Thanks for the upload.
A passion from your end makes your viewers enthralled..informative and engaging..like the part about the time table books and brown tickets..nostalgic...keep posting bro
not just Kashmir is paradise in INDIA *BUT EVERY NORTH-EAST STATE OF INDIA IS MORE PARADISE THEN KSAHMIR and SHIMLA , I LOVE THAT PART* ............from TELUGU STATE(Hyderabad , south part) , INDIA.

@@hassymiia6267 Not exactly..Kashmir has only Himalaya and no doubt Kashmir is beautiful..but North Eastern states are blessed with Himalaya and Hilly sections of Garo, Khasi, Jayantiya. Geographically North East is truly unparallel.
Awesome presentation! I travelled this route back in 2017 February and was simply mesmerized by the beauty of the entire route! Will definitely come back again!!
Travelled this route during MG line, the journey was tiresome, but the view was mesmarizing with 35 tunnels, lush green mountains, endless streams, jatinga river...yet to travel in new BG section...
One of the finest videos on Indian Railways journeys, Very fine commentary with lots of valuable and insightful information, makes you want to go on this trip immediately. Good and a thoroughly professional job. Bravo !
Superb video, narration and production. Hats off to you. You have a real talent for storytelling and your video highlights the joys of rail journeys in a captivating way. Hope you continue to produce several more like this.
No word is enough to describe how good this video is. It is a real video with some good narration, not a compilation of still photos. And beautifully shot too. I thought I was there myself while watching it.
When I was in college I got a chance to travel to Silchar from Lumding, that time the track was Meter gauge and the month was May ...Spring has just passed and the greenery was at its pick....view was awesome...though the journey was delayed due to it's all the notorious reasons that time, we had enjoyed a lot and it's able to occupy my mind among the memorable train journeys that I had make in my life till now.....u r this presentation makes me nostalgic.
I cant believe there are 434 dislikes as of date !!! what an incredibly outstanding video Shuva Deb. You have documented a whole lot of things here, so much information, history, geography, technology, engineering , culture, socio-economic-political situation and scenarios of the area. Outstanding work here . Kudos kudos. Features like these are real travel documents that makes a person yearn to make such trips. Thank you so much for making and sharing such a video with us.
Thank you for sharing. .Beautiful video and so well presented. I love trains and train journeys. As a Kid I used to travel Between Mumbai (then Bombay ) at Goa. I wish I would get an opportunity to travel this line someday. Keep up the good work.
I was posted in Lumding for one and a half years from 2000 to 2001 in a senior position in Railway. Those days of MG trains were a nightmare. Only two trains (one day train and one night train) were there between Lumding and Badarpur. I am very happy to see that this line is finally converted to BG. I am very happy to see Railway projects being fast tracked and North East finally being made to feel like they too belong to India. I would dearly love to visit this place again, this time in BG train.
Excellent video! Not just because of the nature and the engineering marvel but also because of your narration! Suddenly a desire to visit NE cropped up in my mind! Keep it up!
Thanks for your excellent video presentation. Though I lived in silchar for 3 years, I could not visit Lumding. You brought it before me in computer screen.
Great video! Thanks for a trip down memory lane. As a school-kid, many many years back (1970-72), I traveled a number of times to Mizoram where my father was posted. During one such trip, we took the train trip from Gauhati to Silchar - an almost 24-hour journey on the meter-gauge line. It was probably the most beautiful train trip I ever took, perhaps with the exception of the immediately prior trip from Lucknow to Gauhati - especially between Jalpaiguri to Gauhati. The good part - we traveled during school vacation when monsoons were in - and it was just so incredibly beautiful! The North East, as you said, IS a beautiful and unexploited region of India - and I hope your video helps more people discover it. Thanks again.
Thank you for your kind words. You had traveled when I was not even born. There is nothing more satisfactory than receiving detailed comments like this. I traveled in the 80s and it was still adventerous. There was always "What will come next" feeling.
Shuva Brata Deb - your videography with interesting running commentary associated with google map illustration is definitely the best of what I have seen from 100s of videos form rail fans. It’s definitely a video I would have preferred to make. You also show stops at stations along with interesting facts about them. Definitely made my day as a rail fan. It almost is like a documentary. What I usually see from other railfans is almost no commentary, a lot of textual annotations on other train and their engine #s passing by, and practically paying no attention to stations on the way, which is not very interesting. Keep up the good work brother.
Very nice. This great video is well narrated and much appreciated. It brought back some recent memories. I did this trip twice on the Kanchenjunga Express from Silchar to Sealdah. Too bad I didn't have you sitting next to me with a commentary........ I love NE India
Wow, this is the best video depicting scenic beauty and attractions of Silchar- Lumding rote. We have been in Panchgram, 25 k from silchar for 16 years. I am really happy when people across India, talk about tourist places in Barak valley. Such videos helps me to understand them- how beautiful is barak valley. I request if you can make more videos on Silchar and Barak valley.
Boss, am really impressed d way u hv presented d total thrilling train journey in short..d explanation of tracks, tunnels n use of proper background score makes it a quality work.. 👍👍
Very nice to see that metre gauge is converted to Broad gauge. I've travelled in metre gauge train several times when I was studying at REC silchar (82_87) I happen to see most scenic beauty in Barack valley those days Nice to remember old days Thank you for the effort you put into making the video
Good one as beautiful as our northeastern relatives..And kudos to the marvelous works done by engineers ,workers, locals and all those who sacrifice their lives for this beautiful and magnificent project..
Beautiful. N.E.States are crown of our country. I will soon start train journey to this wonder natural place. Train journey on western Ghats from Panvel to Trivandrum is fantastic. We should travel often on this beautiful route of western Ghat .We shall appreciate that hundreds of our brilliant Engineers and thousands hard working labours bolt this majestic route.Jay hind
kamal Bardia Yes the konkan railway is marvelous. However,in North East,if u wish to see similar konkan kinda stretch then u have to visit the Lumding _Silchar(Assam) hill section of NFR railways, other parts in Assam are just on plains.
Great job Shuva ! Very interesting and scenic route .I enjoyed the narrative too ,wish I could do this journey . Maintaining the entire section must be a very challenging ongoing project.
Great work ...love from alipurduar...near your state ...I travel several time with kanchanjungha for Kolkata...but never travel northeast....after seeing this video I become fan of your videos ..
I usually don't comment on TH-cam videos, but this is a spectacular one. Thank you for such a detailed and informative narration. Your style is remarkably engaging and unparalleled.
The landscape crossed is sublime. Your images and all your explanations illustrate this beautiful railway line in mountainous terrain. The Indian Railways, which recently built this 210 km line requiring 420 bridges and 21 tunnels, must be commended. This is rare nowadays. It is a success because it makes easy the displacements and also allows to admire the landscape. The previous meter gauge line was out of the ordinary but it could probably not be only tourist on a short stretch. Let's regret it anyway, but it's an enthusiast who speaks ...Thank you for this quality video.
Really nice video accompanied by a very good narration. Respect for your pains and efforts for the vlog. My next trip would definitely be to the North East. Thanks.

Thank you for filming.. love from Ditokcherra .
Travelled this route so many times in the past. Old memories revived. Thanks for the upload.
What adds flavour to all the panorama, is your smooth flow of words, backed by decades of reminiscences. Just wonderful.
