Thanks Dylan for this review. A thought for those where cost is a primary consideration: buying used first-party is a viable option. For instance, I recently purchased a used Fujinon XF16 mm f1.4 in beautiful condition for less than half the new price or only slightly more than the Sirui new. And I think it would be fair to say the XF runs circles around the Sirui.

definitely not the lens for me, but really impressive what you got out of it. Some really moody photos - nice work! I love the shot of the subway stairs. 👍👍😊

Great video as usual. why buy an 1.2 lens when you can't use this aperture of 1.2 ? it seems to me that the viltrox are much better regarding the image quality at 1.2.

Hard to dethrone the legendary 16/1.4. I guess 16mm is a hard prime to sell, seeing as you get 16mm as a starting point on so many zooms. It has to be something quite special to force the user to take off their 16-55 or 16-50 to take images with it.
From my perspective, I tend to use the Sigma 18-35 and when I want something wider it usually means even wider than 16mm, which is why I ended up with the XF14/2.8 whilst my 16/1.4 gathers dust (heresy I know!). I'd love some alternatives to the XF14/2.8, some additional speed here would be appreciated. Of course the Viltrox 13/1.4 is the other option here.

very similar with me. I use the sigma 18-50 and skip the 16mm focal length and use the xf 14 f/2.8 instead. nice small combo

What's the intro song? The music link in the description goes to the outtro song. I was curious about this lens for something a bit less wide than my Viltrox 13mm f1.4, but I do like that lens when I get a nice composition. I'm so used to 27mm that it's hard for me to frame things properly at 13mm. Using it mostly for astrophotography and to document daily life like visiting a museum.

My conclusion from a vast number of videos (including yours) on 3rd party lenses for Fuji, is that it is never worth investing in anything other than a fuji lens, unless there's something very specific you want in a lens, or if fuji didn't cover a certain optical range yet.
I mean, rather than investing in a compromise lens I'd wait and save some $$ to get the real thing. You could get 2 lenses for a price of one good fuji, but then, nobody needs soooo many lenses (even you said it - you don't buy it cuz you need it, but because you want it).
Although.... , once you do get your main set of 3-5 lenses, I assume people would like something "cheap and imperfect" for artisric reasons..

„Extremely soft“ corners, „vintage sharpness“, AF is a mixed bag, All those are perfect reasons not to buy cheap third party lenses, but the original Fuji XF ones. They are more expensive, but generally you can keep them reliably for a long time. Oh and I would never count on a manufacturer to fix the firmware in the future. If it doesn‘t work at purchase, better go for sth else - the fix might never come.
