Unfortunately I have been under the weather and busy the last few weeks so apologies for the shorter length of video. longer is certainly better when it comes to your delivery and ascetic, especially with a guest like Baldermort. love your stuff kept me going when i worked at the dump lifting e waste all day honestly imperial guard and the wretchedness of the Hives made me more accepting of my laborious back breaking job it made me laugh in a way i hadn't figured out till now, i would hear these unceasing grinding ways of hell in my mind as i worked and laugh because i know my grievances are nothing before the emperor. Came to these realizations in +40c and like 60% humidity most days but it was nothing with your content, alfabusa, arch, Baldermort , grim dark narrator, adeptus-ridiculous and the like. keep it up!

As someone who loves the Imperial Heralds/Word Bearers, the first section was amazing, finally some love to Lorgar Aurelian.

I really love how you called Word Bearers sense of superiority as being the heart of it, Slaves to Darkness shows it very well in Lorgar's need to be dominant, not faithful. His insults to the Sigilite, humanity, and the Custodians show a heartless patronisation of other elements of the Imperium even before their turn. Much like Perturabo's resentment being undercut by his abhorrent treatment of his sons. It is not just about their reasons. What matters with Chaos is what people who follow it do to others.
When Baldermort's voice hit, my skin rippled with multiple waves of goose bumps.

Your storytelling is on another level. You're able to create a pathway for me to emphasize with whichever character you are taking about. Your Mephiston piece is impeccable, I listen to it at least twice a week before I sleep, with my eyes closed I listen to you bring his story to life, as real as it possibly could be.

You can't help but wonder if the Emperor wanted to cripple and damm his own Legions
There's theories the heresy was all part of a "larger plan."
Humans are just evil and turn on eachother for selfish reasons or from simply another point of view
the emperor had every intention of the legions turning on themselves. It's how he planned to purge them once the great crusade was over; they would have no place in his civil imperium, and would go the way of the thunder warriors. What they did not plan on was the forces of chaos getting involved, and the legions burning the empire near to the ground during the course of the conflict.

Lorgar quite possibly one of the most underrated sons of the emperor seen as a schemer and the weakest among his brothers and not only that subjected to have your whole religion ( which ironically would take root within the imperium ) burned to the ground it's no thought that he would put his faith in that of the chaos gods for he was and always will be one of the greatest mistakes the emperor ever imparted he should have never rebuked them in doing so it would bring about the start of the hersey and his ultimate downfall.

I didn't even notice the title of the video I knew I would watch it whatever it was. I save my favorites for prime time(s). A habit from watching television for 40 years, but I got rid of my TVs and cut the cable years ago. SO I was surprised to hear Baldermorts voice. A very pleasant surprise. I save his videos for primetime too. I JUST finished the book, "Pariah" yesterday. It had a few scenes with Traitor Space Marines that were much more intimate, and infinitely more terrifying than I have ever heard them depicted before.

I have a quick question. Even as a relatively new-ish fan of the whole 40k universe (discovered in 2017 and read, devoured and listened to so many novels/audiobooks/fanfiction from the start of the Horus heresy right up to the newest released audiobooks, Warhawk and Ruin, the twice dead king, am I only just discovering The Amber King's excellent content in November 2021?? Now this is what I call a true heresy. liked and subscribed. (was already a gentle listener and fan of Baldermorts channel)

This video was really good, and I liked how you discussed Lorgar and his Legion.
I will say, however, that I’m not entirely sold on the interpretation of Lorgar as a purely self-righteous being. Yes, at many moments he is full on self-righteous, but I think he was also genuinely interested in “the Truth.” The way First Heretic is written makes it clear Lorgar believes humanity needs the mystical in order to prosper. Maybe part of that is self-congratulatory, perhaps he is really deep down just chasing the high of being a fanatic. But I like to think he really means it when he says “all I ever wanted was the truth.” It makes for an interesting villain dynamic.
That one could take mystical concepts like enlightenment and salvation, and find them in the Warps madness and suffering - perhaps even equating salvation with suffering - makes for a more interesting villain in my opinion than Lorgar simply wanting to feel superior. It could be both, of course, but I favor the reading of him as a genuine esotericist, unfortunate enough to exist in a universe with Hell but no Heaven.
I still am not a huge fan of Fulgrim's fall, nor his serpentine demon form, but I do love him as a character
