I actually ordered one through my work. We accumulate points that can be used to shop for all kinds of merchandise. They had the black one only on sale at a really good point value equivalent to about $97 with shipping and sales tax included so a no brainer for me. They didn’t have the Stormbox available.

great to hear the original music vs speakler test, but given that its a mono speaker, this is always going to sound very different without the mid-sde. I'm guessing a lot of the "ear candy" on the track exists in the mid-side in the mid-range. I'd love to hear how their TWS stereo pairing worked. Does the missing sound re-appear? It might actually be a pretty decent replication of the sound at that point
I am planning to retire my thuderbox plus (newest maxsound)and just use it in my 🏍. Is the flow much better? I'll use it as a bedside speaker. My blasts are just too loud in my room. Put both blasts in the garage for when I do some repairs. Is there a big difference between maxsound and flow in real life?
yes they are very different. maxsound much clearer but bass light, flow in xbass mode is much fuller but the quality of the mids and highs are better on the maxsound
Alright Allan the Tribit Flow sounds awesome you should throw soundcore motion 300 into the mix they all look like the Bose they all sound great thanks for another great video
depends on your tastes, neutral and thin or warm but not too accurate. maxsound plus vs flow. but flow as i said, more compact. but if you spend a bit more you get the brighter motion 300.
Pls make a Tronsmart T7 and T7 Lite. The company Have and app. I love your review. I have a question. For the tv. What is the best speaker. Under 100$. (Best latency, more inmersive) i have Anker FLare 2. And ist awesome. Sorry my english. Ty for all.:c
My answer is no speaker is good for tv, get a soundbar with earc support. Tronsmart are really nice to deal with, i dont like being negative when they send me stuff but i have to be honest. The only compelling speaker i heard from them is the bang max.
I like the design of the Flow which is more Bose-like and the charging but I will go for Motion 300 due to its lower price . The Flow was blown out by Motion 300 in another comparison review.
Its not a deduction, it's limiting so you get relatively less bass compared to mids and highs. Almost everyone does this to allow for more volume and/or avoid bad distortion
As Alan mentioned at the start of this episode, it's amusing to see how many SoundLink Flex imitators have been released recently! Another contender is the Soundcore Motion 300.
@@alanrossreviews glad to hear it's on the docket, can't *wait* for this one!! I know it's not quite? the same class but would love to hear it comp'd against the Flare 2 and Motion Plus (non boom) as a possible replacement. Shame none of these are coming with PartyCast anymore though
Hi Alan,i'm thinking about to make a video while i'm experimenting some usb LDAC with built in EQ connected with AUX un an JBL boombox 3 resulting an amazing sound quality(Peak eliminated). What do you think about my idea?😂Thanks
Here we go for 30+ minutes of Alan Ross goodness 😁 Edit : It seems alright for low volume use. I'd take it over the Flex. Too bad the 80hz band doesn't affect the actual bass below 100hz to make it a bit more balanced. But that uncontrolled, distorted bass at 60% and up breaks it. It's a small speaker so you'll need to push it a bit to get some volume. With the broken EQ, there's not much to do... Too bad...
@@ThibautMahringer if they can sort the bass overdrive for me two of these vs two flex's would be decent option. The question is has the motion 300 already got the flow beat?
I don't know why some people hype the wonderbooms often so much...they never have bass. The tribit sounds best on vocals. Flow is a cool alternative to bose. For this size my personal winner is still 2 times soundcore boost 💪
Great review Alan, as always… I’ve got the Bose Flex over 2 months ago… it’s impressive how much it punches above its weight! And it sounds great! That’s why it’s one of the most imitated or copied Bluetooth speakers out there… Keep up the good work!
Hey Mr Ross how are u, hopfully good. yes the Bose it's better than the tribit , but for the price it's ok. Did u try the new soundcore 300 I think it's good contender for the Bose... With EQ.
soundcore only giving it to usual shills (mostly) for now and ic ant buy it in UK. you guys should get on their support asking why they didnt send it to me 😋
hmm an interesting speaker, definitely worth considering for me, because I have Maxsound Plus, but sometimes a small speaker with a bit more bass would be useful. I'm curious if there will be a review of the Soundcore Motion 300 and then a comparison with the Tribit 😄

I imagine people walking around with the other speakers hoping no one notices, it's not a Bose Flex.🤔🤫😛 I think the Flex is designed for outside listening. Bose will always compensate to pierce through the cacophony of sound hence the excesses at top volumes. You're pushing it and Bose will push right back. I think we're missing an Outside/Inside Mode along with Position IQ... I live by a major interstate in the U.S. so i had to learn this being the experiment. My Motion Booms are loud but (as much as i love them) I have 5 Flexes 3 Revolve+ii and 2 Revolve ll, just to name a very few in my Bose repertoire.
I am thinking to buy a bluetooth speaker for movies as well as music. I bought soundcore motion+, its good but didnt is quite like it even with custom eq. I can enjoy movies but music no. The sound is too muffled up also didn't has much bass. Please suggest me portable speaker for around 200 CAD. Aux is a plus.
@alanrossreviews I am an immigrant in Canada and sometimes have to move from one place to another. I'm moving in one or two months, and I can't carry a soundbar also selling them is hassel. Bluetooth portable speaker is go to... if I want to watch movies 2-3 times a week. 😁 also its cost effective to have two in one. Your reviews are too deep, I appreciate it. Thank you for sharing it.

Now you need to do this against the…………. X300!!!! jk jk 😂 Fabulous video as always Alan. The flow sounds like a decent speaker, unfortunate that they wanted to overboost the bass a lil too much on a small speaker. I always wonder do they ever critically listen to these speakers, with different genres of tracks before sending them out??
@@alanrossreviews Interested to see that comparison against the 300, but I was joking about my comment asking you to compare the flow and the 300 lol. I read the other comments asking for the comparison, and thought I do a lil joke 😂😂

Both the bose and tribit sound like they are the elder brothers of their micro ones😂. Another thing i noticed that tribit never releases any broken speakers like sometimes mifa and tronsmart do. All of tribit speakers have a safe and deep sound signature, sometimes a bit muffled
I'd pay a little more for them to add a tweeter to reduce intermodulation distortion. Not much to do with the drivers being cheap, but pushing them too far with bass while trying to spit out higher frequencies which cannot be reproduced accurately when you have high driver excursion.
@@alanrossreviews These companies would know well enough to put in a properly designed crossover. That's really all it needs. DSP can prevent over excursion though leading to it of course.
Im tellin you right now Ross, the souncore motion 300 with the custom EQ and latest LDAC firmware kills allllll of these speakers in both price, features, and sound!!! i got mine for 55 out the door after taxes using a private discount lol
@@migks37for one, the tribit is mono as where the motion 300 is stereo, thats already a win for the 300 in my book. Now that said, when you use the custom EQ and tweak up the bass and highs just right, not only is it louder, and clearer, but the bass sounds really good. If anyone can get a custom EQ to sound better than factory default EQ's, its Ross, cant wait to see. Or maybe I'll just order a tribit and set them side by side myself 🤔
It's now available in my country, the tribit stormbox flow (the Philippines) maybe i will buy the tribit stormbox flow maybe in the future not now, just like what happened to my tribit stormbox pro, i have the first one and it has issues on the battery life and their tribit application which my early model or version cannot connect or use the application? I just give it to my friend, now i have the upgraded version of tribit xsound go, thunderbox and the stormbox, all of them are having the type C charging port and charger cord 😊
Great review! Soundcore is in process of releasing Motion 100 and 300 which should fit into the same category. I have seen a few sound samples of the 300 and it looks promising.
I have a 300. I have mixed feelings. I don't feel like the sound quite matches the SoundLink Flex, sounds better (to me) laying down, and X Bass makes it sound worse. It's not actually terrible though, and aesthetically they did well this time. It feels very solid, the texture of the body and grill are pleasing and it looks pretty good (inline the X600).
At least Tribit is sent something for you to review. It would almost leave one to believe other companies (not to drop names but... Soundcore) aren't interested in honest reviews? 🤔😉 I was curious about how the Flow stacked up when I began to see ads about it so I'm glad you were able to get it. Thank you for another outstanding review and comparison, Alan! 😁👍👏
If you want low volume get a small speaker if you want a louder volume get a bigger speaker, it's not good for any speaker do be driven close to its max output for long periods, i like to have speakers with plenty in reserve at my listening level so the speaker gets a easy life, they last forever that way and they should sound better also.
@@techderaudios Kinda disagree, while you don't get much stereo imaging on small speakers, stereo always feel wider souding, and treble always sound better in stereo
@@ThibautMahringer the thing is while people complain of comb filtering with two close speakers it also helps add the impression of width. Its used in mixing for that very effect. I do prefer twin drivers (not tweeters) for the tiny added phase shift you get, it helps with immersion.
From what I could hear, only Bose accounts for IMD (intermodulation distortion) which is inherent for single full-range drivers in their DSP. They compensate it before pushing the sound to the speaker and do it really well for all volume levels. They have done great job in that regard for many years. Tribit needs some further refinement (IMD control, fixing the bass distortion, accelerometer that controls EQ switch depending on the placement - with the bigger driver, they could achieve even better sound than the Bose) but great job considering the price point. I guess I will get one to test it with the early bird discount : ) P.S. Love Tribit (Currently having the original Stombox and the Stormbox Blast).
how do you hear that? you mean an absence of intermodulation distortion leads you to believe that or you have more info? personally i find it hard to tell the differences between types of distortion by ear. deciphering the difference between harmonic and non harmonic distortion by ear alone is a great skill ion those that have an ear for it.
@@alanrossreviews Yes, an absence of hearable intermodulation distortion leads me to believe Bose are using software trickery. With all my experimentation with full range drivers, once the membrane is moving more in the lower frequencies, the high frequencies played simultaneously exhibit a certain "raspiness" to them. Example: playing 60hz sine wave and 12 khz sine wave simultaneously on a full range driver would give us 60hz IMD in the 12 khz region. I guess fixing it in software has to do with timing - when the membrane is going forwards in the bass region, you delay the higher frequencies by a certain amount to compensate for the forward movement and vice versa. JBL are aleviating the problem by introducing tweeters in their products. For example the Charge 3 had 2 full range drivers and had a lot of IMD once you play it a bit louder.
Just thought about it a bit more. A simple way to test the hypothesis is to hook Bose's amp to an oscilloscope and play a low and a high tone simultaneously at a higher volume and look for irregularities in the waveform of the high tone.
@@Alex-hr3yr this is my point. for me thats the only i could tell if a signal is harmonic or non harmonic. I hear people talk about the specific type of distortion they hear and i wonder how they are doing that. intermodulation distortion being non inlear, how do you listen out for something non linear as opposed to linear harmonic distortion? but for sure the bigger brands will spend money on dsp that battles amp distortion while cheaper brands will save wherever they can. having said that these dsp chips are so cheap anyways 😎😎
Dear Alan, hello. Tribit made a new version of the firmware, which fixed the problem in the sound at 60 Hz. I had the same thing as you. They sent me firmware 1.2.2 and said that speakers with a new firmware version will go on sale, without this problem. I updated the firmware on my speaker and this problem disappeared. (It seems to me that the bass has become less. I didn't measure the frequency response of the sound, so I'm not sure that the bass has become less. You can check it out . If the company's representatives have not sent you a new firmware, I will be able to forward it to you.)
@@alanrossreviews I understand you :) This also happens to me often when the review is ready and there is no way to make changes. Have you not done frequency response measurements on the new firmware yet? Is there less bass?

Tribit Stormbox Blow, more like ;-) Sounds alright at low volumes, on-axis, tbf, but won't be replacing my Flex - feel it's worth the extra money for it's all-round performance, and is my favourite small/travel speaker. Great comparison though!
Noticing all these brands experimenting with light blue lately, like the last 6 months or so it seems. Or am I now just noticing it in. Speakers and headphones with that color 🤔
The SoundLink has remarkable sound especially for its size, picked up 2 of them for $125 aud each on Amazon recently and I’ve recently tried 2 jbl charge 5 and the soundcore motion x 600 and they beat both of those in sound quality, separation and clarity, great little speakers.
Alan, I need a big favor... Get a TREBLAB HD-360 and flog it with your awesome tests. I'm goinna pull the trigger in 2 since on paper it maybe the best speaker for under $150 US. On Bezo land their going for $130 US. I may have to go to BT Speaker rehab, but dude you are the Man in BT speaker testing. Cheers
I've had dozens of bluetooth speakers (JBL, Bose, Sony, Anker etc.). This is an AMAZING speaker for the size. Bass goes as deep as my Stormbox Blast (albeit not nearly as loud), however, depending on the room it can sound a lot more open due to the 4 drivers facing all directions. Has 2 of 3 usable EQ modes and is loads of fun for anyone that loves bass. You would not call its mids and highs "accurate" (if Alan tests it it would have some noticeable peaks and dips in the frequency spectrum) and my unit has some audible hiss, however it is definitely the biggest sound for a speaker this size that I've heard. The second EQ mode is with some stereo processing that makes the sound "wider" and sounds great with a lot of tracks - works in a similar way to the Denon Envaya. Overall sound signature is U shaped. Did I mention it is a fun listen? : )
I told tribit of the distortion issue, next day they issued a new firmware to fix it. The brand that shall not be named i told for weeks of the distortion issue, to this day they deny any issues but have 8 different tunings out there to try and sort something 😁 tell me, which brand do you think is more trustworthy 🤗 (tribit) 😊

Thanks for another good 'un, the Tribit did seem to bottom out when you overdrive the low bass ( the Motion Boom Plus does that as well on some tracks). Apparently the "Audiobook mode" is supposed to remove some of the power supping bass so as to make the charge last longer and make the vocal less "nasal?" Although it does not always achieve the desired effect. Bet you can't wait to test the 300 from you know who😂

Love your reviews bud✌️👍💪
great to hear the original music vs speakler test, but given that its a mono speaker, this is always going to sound very different without the mid-sde. I'm guessing a lot of the "ear candy" on the track exists in the mid-side in the mid-range. I'd love to hear how their TWS stereo pairing worked. Does the missing sound re-appear? It might actually be a pretty decent replication of the sound at that point
ive yet to try two in tws although i do have two of them 😂
@@alanrossreviews I would love to hear it. I think you'd be being more fair to the quality of the actual speakers that way to run them as a pair.

Hey Alan i am stuck between choosing the maxsound plus and the stormbox flow what do you think should i consider???
Maxsound plus is cleaner, a little bass light, very neutral, flow warmer, form factor more travel friendly, has app support
@@alanrossreviews wow thanku one of the few TH-camrs that reply, so shall I pull the trigger on maxsound plus???
depends on your tastes, neutral and thin or warm but not too accurate. maxsound plus vs flow. but flow as i said, more compact. but if you spend a bit more you get the brighter motion 300.
I have two Soundlink Flex's which together in stereo are great.
but not cheap 😁

I bought my tribit flow around 43usd. I choose tribit because of its price. Still waiting for it to arrive.
You got it? How is it
I have both and I tell you that the motion 300 is louder and has more bass than the flex
I like the design of the Flow which is more Bose-like and the charging but I will go for Motion 300 due to its lower price . The Flow was blown out by Motion 300 in another comparison review.
Yup 300 trumps the flow
is flow better than x sound plus 2 and soundcore glow?
@@FrenzexTV they all have issues, i would choose based on form factor. The xsound 2 can be eqd quite flat.
Is the deduction of bass on tribit's speakers on 90-100% permanent or hardware effect or is it fixable with firmware updates?
Its not a deduction, it's limiting so you get relatively less bass compared to mids and highs. Almost everyone does this to allow for more volume and/or avoid bad distortion
@@alanrossreviews Thanks for the info..
Alan are they going to release the tribit in more colors do you know nice to see the TOZO in more colors as well
no idea. they dont have a track record of alternative colouirs.
As Alan mentioned at the start of this episode, it's amusing to see how many SoundLink Flex imitators have been released recently! Another contender is the Soundcore Motion 300.

Hi Alan,i'm thinking about to make a video while i'm experimenting some usb LDAC with built in EQ connected with AUX un an JBL boombox 3 resulting an amazing sound quality(Peak eliminated). What do you think about my idea?😂Thanks
its a good idea just messy to deal with all the time.
Here we go for 30+ minutes of Alan Ross goodness 😁
Edit : It seems alright for low volume use.
Too bad...
😝😝 well i like to think so anyway 👀😎

@@alanrossreviews ou ok , thank you for answear 🙂

I'd pay a little more for them to add a tweeter to reduce intermodulation distortion. Not much to do with the drivers being cheap, but pushing them too far with bass while trying to spit out higher frequencies which cannot be reproduced accurately when you have high driver excursion.
Doesn't automatically fix the issue. The amp is an important part of the chain. Implementation of additional drivers is also important.

@@migks37for one, the tribit is mono as where the motion 300 is stereo, thats already a win for the 300 in my book. yeah soundcore are having a big sulk right now, i even emailed saying they can send me one (300) if they like 😜 no reply.
If you want low volume get a small speaker if you want a louder volume get a bigger speaker, it's not good for any speaker do be driven close to its max output for long periods, i like to have speakers with plenty in reserve at my listening level so the speaker gets a easy life, they last forever that way and they should sound better also.
yep! bigger drivers like to be played louder.
I thought that mono bt speakers were trendy in 2014...
Stereo stays useless on Bluetooth speakers with small size most of the times 😂 s
lets see what the motion 300 says about that 😜
actually we had stereo for many years till jbl started going mono

ok i will look into it 😁
