  • Meltdowns, shutdowns and burn out are explored from the perspective of an Autistic person with Dissociative Identity Disorder.
We explore what Meltdown, Shutdown and Burn Out are, why they happen and things we find helpful when we experience these states.
Trigger Warning: Contains loud sounds and sound effects. People who are sound sensitive should view our autistic friendly version of this video in which sound effects and music have been removed.

People who are not triggered by loud noises should watch this version since the sounds effects are intended to enable people to experience how difficult we find the world.

As an autistic system, the information was useful but a lot of the sounds were overwhelming and triggering. Good work with the editing though. I only want to help :) You might wanna turn down the background music a little, make little pauses between the takes, and if you can stick to the same mic. I really appreciate what you do. :)

A clear trigger warning might be useful. I feel like some of the sound effects were deliberate, and probably quite effective at helping more typical people feel just a small touch of the emotions you deal with.

We have now put a trigger warning in and made a version for people triggered by loud sounds. The sound effects in the original are intended to help people understand what the world is like for us.

Meltdowns and Burnouts are hard on everyone, but I can see it would be especially difficult on people with autism and/or DID. Thanks for sharing your perspective!

As a middle aged autistic system it's great to see someone discuss this. We have had several rounds of burnout as well.
    Thanks for this video. 💜

Good information but whoever edited the audio did one of the worst jobs I have ever experienced. Sudden screeching, volumes so much louder you can't make out the narration, etc. I've had to stop only 3 minutes in because the extremally over modulated audio effects are driving me into a meltdown.

th-cam.com/video/CTH3qs6ZjlU/w-d-xo.html is the link to the sensory friendly version....its meant to be very overwhelming and noisy to replicate what it's like when we get overwhelmed!
