    Mel is the real deal and has fought in front of thousands in Thailand. He doesn't train breaking bats. It's just for demonstration purpose so an audience can see what kind of power is delivered by a well trained kick. Body hardening training has been done by traditional martial artist for years. Besides an excellent martial artist, Mel Menor is a great trainer and still teaches in San Diego at his gym.

    Muay Thai fighters don't condition their shins by hitting hard objects like trees or poles. They condition their shins from years of kicking heavy bags and sparring without shinpads or mouthpieces. These is how they condition their legs and bodies, so muay thai fighters being able to kick and break down banana trees is just a perk they get due to years of kicking heavy bags.

      Ya dont kick trees right away youll break your legs. They even advise agaisnt using rolling pins to desesitize them just kick that bag and spar. You can use a rolling pin just rake it acorsso the shin but trust me it doesnt feel good and you still have to kick while its sore or its uselss and just bruises you.

    Well nobody would think a soccer kick or a punt would break a bat. Those kicks are designed to do what they're designed to do! The Thai Kick would be equally useless on a football. Cool that the kick can break the bat though!

    • @Bestialce2007
      @Bestialce2007 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Trent M It would be useless because it would obliterate the ball lol

    • @DLS441
      @DLS441 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the point of contact. The further down the leg, the more force is generated. So you would generate the most force at the foot, rather then the shin. The main reason Muay Thai fighters hit with the shin is because it's one solid bone instead of the foot which is a collecting of small bones.

  • @vet3shaw
    @vet3shaw 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Notice the lowness of the kick. Watch for the motion's concerted timing, especially the pivot of the foot, the core turning, the knee leading the shin into the target, dissipating the full power.

    They are not calculating the force of the two other assistants that they deliver to the bat, one of them produces a force clockwise and the other anti-clockwise and those two are added to the initial force produced by the kick.. so technically he's very good, but the assistants helped in breaking the bat more easily !

    Vince Lombardi was predictable too. He knew it, and whoever was playing the Packers knew it. Guess what both teams also knew? That they couldn't stop the Packers anyway, so it didn't matter. His whole philosophy was, "Keep it simple, get insanely good at those simple things, and then it doesn't matter if they know it's coming or not, because they can't stop it."

    When the object being hit is fixed then obviously it will register greater force compared to object which is moved by hitting. For example if the muay thai fighter would be kicking small ball his reading wouldn’t be as great as 720.

      +Krain N Yes, the hip geometry of a wheel kick is very much like an ice duster l skater doing a spinning trick. while the geometry of a roundhouse is similar to a man swinging a bat. As you can tell, I love martial arts!

      Very true. However, for such a powerful kick, a roundhouse kick is considered more effective and efficient due to its speed and the simplicity of performing it. It's one of the most effective kicks that can be used in a fight than many other powerful kicks.
      But is it the strongest kick? Nah, definitely not. All the kicks you've listed are much more powerful.

    The whole time all I wanted to see was a camera angle of him throwing the kick with his standing leg in the shot. It looks like he doesn't pivot during the kick and instead lands his left (non kicking) foot twisted in the position it would be at the end of the kick and then throws his hips into the kick. Is that possible because he was running into the strike? and therefore if he was standing still would he need to pivot to generate the extra power missing?

      none of them in the ufc can break this bat. Muay Thai fighters train young SPECIFICALLY the legs only. Kicking small trees everyday, I am half thai so I've seen how tough and thick their legs are. trust me, one kick on a regular man and your leg is as good as fractured like 99% chance. my uncle was a muay thai fighter and even his leg kicks at 50% power could probably make a man limp for days and this guy is a muay thai champion so imagine that at 100% power u guys dnt understand how long it takes to get your leg this strong.

    • @yuptydoo
      @yuptydoo 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily, because humans usually instinctively rear up their leg, meaning he'd be kicking a limp object. So their leg would hurt like Hell and bounce backwards, but not shatter like the bat because it was actually held in place by two assistants

    furthermore, early fighters had little to no crosstraining. now im not saying bjj isnt good but it depends on the situation and what youre comfortable with and since the UFC and fighters evolved the best bjj practicioners werent as relevant with regards to the purity of the sport. Royce Gracie couldn't handle Matt Hughes.Demian Maia and Thales Leites couldn't strike with or takedown Anderson Silva.Fabricio Werdum couldn't strike with or takedown Alistair Overeem.

    why don't you watch okinawan Euchi Ryu karate where a master can break 3 baseball bats in one roundhouse kick. The shin bone of this master is perhaps really thick and strong. But both the Muay Thai in this video and the okinawan karate master uses their shin bone which surely are bigger bones. What about about the other master who can spear hand a half-inch thick of pine wood breaking it. is this not more difficult to do than using a shin against a hard object. Also using the folded thumb to break a half-inch pine wood. I saw a video in this youtube where a Euchi Ryu master is hitting his shin bones with a base ball bat or kicking using his toe to break an inch-thick pine wood. If by long period of time, this masters have been conditioning their shin, fingers, thumb, knuckles toe to withstand high impact against hard objects then, their bones had grown and hardened by impact conditioning. Wolfe's law on bone transformation is perhaps true.

      Yea doubt a man can break something with his toe seeing as the bone would crush itself so, don't believe every youtube video you so dude.
