Please research Stella Liebeck, she is much maligned. She was seriously injured and only wanted compensation for her medical bills. She had 3rd degree burns on her thighs and genitals and had to have skin grafts. At the time McDonald's kept their coffee only 2 degrees lower than the boiling point. Her medical bills were in the 10's of thousands of dollars and they only offered to settle for a few hundred. Contrary to popular belief she was not driving, she was a passenger and the car was not moving. She was trying to remove the lid to add sugar and when she did the cup spilled, when her son asked for help from the workers they would not give them anything for burns and ridiculed her. She only asked for her medical bills, legal fees and that the lower the temp on their coffee, the JURY decided to levy punitive damages for the equivalent of 2 days of coffee sales. After winning, Stella let them off the hook and actually accepted less money. And by the way, McDonald's totally knew their coffee was way too hot as they had received hundreds of complaints of severe burns from their coffee.
Facts are facts but stupidity is stupidity don’t drive with hot coffee and don’t have hot coffee in the car if somebody else has had coffee in the car tell them you don’t feel comfortable with it and ask them to either cool it down with some ice cubes or just not have it in the car I’m pretty sure any five-year-old can tell how hot something is and whether or not to have it in a moving vehicle you wouldn’t take a scolding hot bowl of soup in the car with you would you if you’re going to have Coffee in the car have ice coffee or ask for several ice cubes that are free also I don’t give stupidity a pass no matter what age you are
There was a family that sued SeaWorld because a dad snuck in at night and jumped in the Orca tank, then they ate him. They sued them because "they didn't know that Killer whales can kill."
@swolfe9668 the coffee really was far too hot to ever be served to customers, the image of her suing over the dangerously hot coffee was distorted by McDonalds in order to hurt her character and public perception.
@@swolfe9668even the most intelligent people spill liquids. Coffee that causes 3rd degree burns, 8 days in the hospital, skin grafting and 2 years of medical treatment is TOO HOT!
Can you imagine doing something wrong at work and in front of customers your boss calls through the speakers "Excuse me, Jack Ass, please come to the office. Thank you."

I will stand up in that coffee woman's defense as say she suffered from third degree burns and needed severe surgery. DOES IT REALLY NEED TO BE THAT HOT MCDONALDS
+FighterJet 210 - I believe it had partially melted the cup. She only sued for surgery costs. That McDonalds had been keeping their coffee much hotter than they should have been.
I agree. She only wanted McDonalds to pay her medical bill but McDonalds made a huge deal of it and gave her a LOT of money. We only know this story as the woman who sued for a million dollars as her coffee was too hot". 😑😑😑
The reason she sued was because the lid was not shut completely, the coffe was way hotter than regulations say they should be and the cup was meltet because of said heat.
+Brian Yach your right the lady was third degre burn all around the genital , for those who think the case was stupid find the picture on google you will change your mind
The McDonalds coffee being too hot wasn't an exaggeration the lady that spilled it on her lap suffered horrendous trauma and when I heard about it I thought to myself "of course coffees hot and if one spills it on themselves they will get hurt" but after seeing the photos of the injuries to the lady hurt by it I thought well this is messed up and there's no reason for coffee to be so hot it burns someone that badly and the lady who bought it may have been jittery from not having her delicious heated bean juice or could have had Parkinsons or some other ailment to cause her to spill it so I say to the people who think "well coffee is going to be hot you should have known" look the pics up and tell me coffee needs to be as hot as napalm! Im just glad that it wasn't spilled accidentally on a clumsy kid that do routinely knock things over.
Thank You!!! I hate when people are just like "Up well im an old lady driving my car and im to stupid to know that coffees hot. Gee" Like this woman has suffered through 3rd degree burns!
Plus hundreds of people had complained of similar injuries but McD's did nothing about it! And she TRIED to settle out of court for just her out of pocket expenses but they only offered her a few hundred dollars!
Ellie Harper - Her medical bills , after insurance, were in the neighborhood of $10,000-$11,000. That's all she wanted. Instead, she was offered $800. All she wanted was her medical bills paid for and for them to fix the problem and reduce the temperature of the coffee. Even when they went to court, she only asked for just barely enough money to cover her bills and make a point to the chain. It was the jury who said she should get the massive sums of money, as a punitive measure to hurt the company enough in their pocketbooks in hopes that the lesson would stick.
You get the idea, (McDonald’s hot coffee lawsuit, Stella deserves better, yada yada yada, etc., all that Jazz), I just don’t want to have to reply to every comment on this, the point is, Stella Liebeck is a heroine.
That one where a woman spilt McDonalds coffee... yeah she had third degree burns all over her legs and groin. she just wanted the temp turned down from a dangerous degree because it wasn't the first incident. makes me wonder what else he's ignoring on his lists just for laughs...
To be fair, inaccuracies on his videos are very rare, and the details were not well publicized. It wasn't even on the official list. And the case was settled anyway.
inaccuracies will happen, and as you said it's completely logical he didn't know the full story. I just hope he addresses it like in the comments or something. He's awesome, and hearing the full story vs the sum up that people know changes it completely.
+TurtleFace Yeah that irritates me that so many people are ignorant about the case and view the McDonalds coffee lawsuit as frivolous... she wasn't greedy, she didn't ask for that much to begin with and there were records that turned up of many other cases of people getting burned by their coffee... it did not need to be that hot. If people got third degree burns when it spilled on them, what would it do to your tongue if you tried to drink it right away? You couldn't, so what is the point in keeping it that hot?
+joshua marti (pandajam7) she wasn't driving, that's a lie. Also the coffee was several times hotter than Mc Donald's instructs there employees to make it, in addition to that there were several people (a few dozen) who complained before about how much hotter it was than it should have been. So it was a legitimate lawsuit. You need to read about things before you go and blabber about it.
+Kaegan McDonald the McDonalds coffee lady ISN'T that ridiculous if you read up on it.... the woman was hospitalized for eight days while she underwent skin grafting, followed by two years of medical treatment.... because the coffee they served was around 80-90 °C (176-194 °F) STILL think it's a case of not using common sense ... COFFEE SHOULD NOT BE HOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE 3RD DEGREE BURNS... EVER!
+Kaegan McDonald McDonald's had had several complaints already. And coffee shouldn't be hot enough to give you 3rd degree burns. Google the images. No coffee from a fast food restaurant should be that hot. I guess if it had burned a dog, you'd be more concerned.
I don't care, it's not rocket science to realize that coffee is HOT, and if hers was hotter than good for her, doesn't everyone want hot coffee? Should we start giving people room temperature coffee so they don't burn themselves or complain that there coffee is too hot, let's just put a ban on coffee and only allow iced coffee so nobody gets hurt, or will the coffee be too cold that they go into hypothermia.
She had third degree burns on her body, and the doctor who was monitoring her health said how it was one of the worst cases he had seen. People should know more about this case before they judge it
@@krispyforks5148 MD actually ran a massive campaign to trick people into thinking that certain lawsuit and many other lawsuits were frivolous, and it worked. Stories changed, and now people are less trusting of lawsuits in general. More info can be found online, but I think the show "Adam Ruins Everything" explained it pretty well. Look for the episode on law if you're interested. ^_^
What about the guy who robbed some ones house wile they were away for a week and got locked in there garage for a week and when they got back he sued them for Mal nutrition! And won!😂
How in the heck did that even REACH a court building in the first place? That's as stupid as the woman who sued McDonald's over spilling hot coffee on herself
That lady at Mcdonalds wasn't stupid the coffie was way to hot to even drink I think she got third or second degrees burns imaging if that went in her mouth? Not so stupid now
she was an older woman in an old car with no cup holder, so she used her legs to hold it the cup broke and burned basically her entire thigh area and her buttocks so bad, that the several surgeries she had to go through nearly claimed her life. the coffee that that McDonald's was selling was in temperatures exceeding 400℉. there is a documentary on Netflix in excruciating detail about the whole thing. the worst part is the family wasn't suing for some crazy amount, they just couldn't afford the medical bills and wanted McDonald's to pay them. McDonald's then started producing negative press against the women so as to make them the good guy in this.
+MrFic It's not stupid. She was a 70-year old woman who was in a parked car and the coffee spilled. It was so hot she had third degree burns within seconds. If being older wasn't enough (your skin gets thinner as you get older in some cases), her genitals were fused together and they had to have major surgery to repair the damage. I see red every time I see that one mentioned because the media turned it into a laughing stock with a vague "oh she spilled coffee and sued" line, when in reality she was horrifically hurt by it. The only reason she sued was because she wanted McDonalds to pay her medical bills and they refused, so she was forced to take legal action. And honestly? As a fellow Canadian who lives not two hours away from Toronto? I'm actually very disappointed in Matt for bringing that one up. At least he didn't actually include it in the video.
Look... Was it something stupid. Yes. But it wasn't at fault of mcdonalds. It was her own old stupidity. And no coffee is gonna get that hot that it will kill you... That isn't coffee anymore. That's lava. She has a floor... She has a passenger seat.. She has a dashboard... And every car has a center consul. ,ay not have a cup holder but she could have just let it sit... Common sense. Does wonders. Do I feel bad? Yeah... But McDonald's was not at fault here.. They shoudlnt need to pay.
Well that lady who sued McDonald's because her coffee was hot, she was severely burned and McDonald's heats up their coffee to ridiculous temperatures.
Plus she didn’t even want to sue, she just wanted McDonalds to pay her medical bills for her 3rd degree burns, not to mention she wasn’t driving, or even moving in the vehicle.
@@Edgewalker001 1st of all it was much hotter back then and other people complained but it hurt her more because she was old 2nd go watch Adam ruins everything's video about it he explained it much better than I could
A Russian man is suing Bethesda because he claims he lost his job, his wife, and his health due to Fallout 4 being so addictive. Pretty sure a judge will look over that suit, look him in the eye, tell him that was his own damn fault for not having any self-control, and throw it out.
+dimentiorules Well I got addicted to playing Diablo II when it first came out and played it and its expansion when it came out, for almost 3 years for 4-5 hours nearly every day. After that I stopped and now I rarely play games, but I can control myself now and know when to take a break, so I know addiction to playing video games does happen.
i have seen a more ridiculous one. a woman sued a man for rape after he saved her from drowning after she hit her head and was knotted unconscious . since she didn't give him permion to touch her
That isn't raping, however if someone asks you to stop an action such as hugging, and you don't, that is considered sexual harassment. Not that I'm saying you were wrong or the woman asked him to stop, but raping is the forcing of sex on an individual, not saving their life.
+Queen's Ability and it was because she didn't give him permission to touch her. that is why I said it was ridiculous. how is a unconscious person sinking under water supposed to give someone permission to touch them. the first thing to come someones mind if they see that happening is to save that person's life. its not about having that person's permission to touch them
@@jaydasmalls7467 she just wanted McDonald's to help pay her medical bills, but they refused. She even admitted it was her fault for spilling the coffee.

The lady who sued McDonalds for spliing coffee on herself suffered 3rd degree burns. It was found that the manager at the McDonalds she went too had the coffee machines heat turned up. So that customers who dinned in wouldn't be able to get a refill on there coffee, because by the time it was cool enough to drink they would have finished there meal and would be leaving the store.
For the record, that woman you mentioned at the beginning who sued McDonald's for spilling her coffee got severe 3rd degree burns, was permanently disfigured, and was partially disabled for 2 years. I don't think the lawsuit was all that frivolous.

fun fact turns out the first one wasn't ridiculous the coffee was a literal hazard in fact she didn't want to sue she sued only for the medical bills the court was insane and awarded her the million but she at the end just settled for a few thousand oh and because of the coffee she got 3rd degree burns and was sent the emergency room and she literally almost died
Yeah she had like $40,000 in medical bills and when she tried to settle out of court with mcdonalds they only offered to pay 600$. She had no choice but to sue
The McDonald's coffee lawsuit is actually much more complicated then initially posed. The woman was in her eighties and the car was parked at the time of the spill. She wasn't driving either and was just trying to put milk and sugar in her coffee. The spill happened when she tried to remove the lid, and the coffee - which was more than 200 degree Fahrenheit - gave her third degree burns over most of her thighs and genitals. She requires skin grafts and wasn't the first to be harmed by McDonald's ridiculously hot coffee, just the first to file a lawsuit. McDonald's has since slandered this poor woman even though she was clearly the victim.

It's no longer called Uranus. They changed it years ago to put an end to that silly joke. Now it's called Urectum ;) (please tell me someone else watches futurama lol)
Ok so the truth of the hot coffee lawsuit by McDonald’s was that it was an old lady, sitting in her passenger seat while her son was in the drivers seat. It was in the parking lot and she accidentally spilled it. She even admitted it was her fault but the coffee was dangerously hot, above the temperature that it should have been served. She suffered third degree burns! They only offered her a couple hundred for her injuries which costed way more. She didn’t even want to sue them until they refused to pay it. She won, and McDonald’s knew they were serving the coffee too hot and that atleast a hundred other people reported being burned by Their coffee! But McDonald’s used the media to make it sound like she was driving, a middle aged women, and that the coffee wasn’t burning!
The spilled coffee from McDonalds lawsuit was not as stupid as it sounds if you know all the facts surrounding the incident. The McDonalds had gotten in trouble several times before by code enforcement for having their coffee at too high of a temperature. The family originally only asked that McDonalds cover her medical bills... they refused, so it went to court. She didn't have a little red burn on her leg, it was so hot it completely melted a large amount of skin away. She had to stay in the hospital for a long time. All they wanted was medical bills covered, due to this being a documented issue with that particular McDonalds constantly serving their coffee at a temperature not allowed by food code enforcement. There is a documentary on it I watched on that lawsuit that changed my mind from thinking it was stupid.
Female Officers I completly and totally agree with you. I thought this case waa dumb when i first heard it and I watched a documentary on it and now i get really upset when people say that she was a stupid old lady who dropped coffee on her lap. She had 3rd degree burns!
The lady that spilled McDonald's coffee on her lap she didn't want to sue McDonald's but when they wouldn't pay for the medical expenses she took it to court and McDonald's admitted to making there coffee way over the correct temputure she got 600k in the end did I mention that she got 5th sever burns wow
HaHaITrolledYou First of all there is no such thing as 5th degree burns Second of all burns is the term when liquid touch’s the skin: a Jeremy what are you drinking : oh nothing just a cup of BURNS Third: the cup can hold boiling water and that cup is coated in plastic which acts as backup Fourth: before you go with your omg I’m so cool emojis how would feel if somebody dumped the equivalent of a hot tube on you and cut off your legs because guess she was paralyzed from the waist down. Laughed so much at this video!! Just what I needed! The only one I don't agree on is the McDonald's lawsuit. That one was pretty serious. The lady didn't even want to sue but needed to. And also McDonald's was at fault as well.
Hey Matthew, you make really high quality content. I really enjoy it. I just want to say the woman that sued for the hot coffee isn't as ridiculous as it seems. The coffee was at a ridiculously high temperature, McDonald's actually had to change their process because of that. The lady was also burned horrifically. I still think it was a bad case, but its seriously not just ridiculous. She was seriously hurt and the coffee was just way too hot. At a lesser temperature I don't personally believe she would have sustained the severity of injury that she did.
She sustained 3rd degree burns and the original suit was literally just for her hospital bills because McDonalds refused to pay them. Not even for anything else. She was awarded a shit load of money though regardless.
Iv spilt freshly made coffe all over myself before on accident and it hurt like shit but I didn't get no damn 3rd degree burns. My coffee comes out at drinkable temptatures pretty much instantly. 190 degrees is not drinkable though. Thats just insanity.
Matthew: "Remember that time when a lady sued McDonalds because her coffee was hot?" Me: Yeah lots of things like that sound stupid once taken out of context.
+Shrek Ogerlord You realize that is 419 Fahrenheit? That is nearly hot enough to melt tin and would be hot enough to generate what is termed a fourth-degree burn (one which goes into muscles, bone, etc) on a human. The court case openly stated it was between 180-190 degrees Fahrenheit, so I have no idea where you're getting your value from, obviously far from any reality...
She sued them because she was an older woman with severe burns, and because of her age it took a lot of money to recover from, regardless it was found the coffee was beyond boiling hot, she had a real claim and she went a long way to win. It's progress against big companies that pay the press to infantilise customers who try to mess with them, to turn the public against them, and it clearly worked because you think the old woman is an idiot for it. Don't be an idiot.
The woman who sued McDonald's suffered third-degree burns and ended up dying her family sued. This predicament tunnels had been cited multiple times for the coffee being well over the acceptable range. You should never get third-degree burns from something in a cup and a restaurant attend to you through a window. This McDonnells had a malfunctioning coffee pot which was eating a coffee to almost 100° over the allowable and although they have been told they refused to fix it. The family sued for the medical bills after the woman died due to the 3rd° burns. Before you get snarky about something you should understand it and maybe you should watch the documentary about it.
+Heidi Williams (#StandWithPP) She didn't die from the burns. Before you get snarky about something you should understand it. She was burned in 92, the court hearing was in 94, and she died in 04 at 91 years old.
+William Bradey (Test) before you start talk you should maybe go to medical school. She died due to complications and the autopsy stated that the repeated surgeries and repeated infections along with her age had a direct correlation and was the causative action for her multi organ failure and general decline. So since the coroner ruled her death due to complications from the third degree burns then I was right. A death does not need to be immediate to be related. Christopher Reeves death was caused by his fall from the horse since he died from an infection that he would not have gotten had he not been a quad. See how that works?
Heidi Williams You claimed she died and her family are the ones who sued. "The woman who sued McDonald's suffered third-degree burns and ended up dying her family sued." I would also like you to link me with the autopsy report you claim to have read because I can't find it. There is no mention whatsoever of any complications, infections, or multiple organ failure involving this case anywhere online. So unless you can back up your claims with the autopsy report, I, and others, are just going to have to assume you're talking out of your ass.
+William Bradey (Test) If you actually look at the lawsuit her daughter was the the one that actually sued. The woman was undergoing skin grafts and other surgeries and her daughter had POA and actually sued and the final settlement after McDonalds appealed did not occur until months after her death.
Heidi Williams For Christ's sake, kid. The suit was called "Stella Liebeck v. McDonald's Restaurants" for a reason. There are even pictures of her in the court room. The case was settled in 94, 2 years after the spill and surgeries. I'm starting to think you're just a troll.

That Macdonald was sued thing. You haven't heard the real story: She ordered a cafe from Macdonald, and she was sitting on her daughter. And so the car went driving, and the car hit a bump and she spilled the cafe over herself (she was a passenger) and since the cafe at Macdonald's is actually really hot, she was so burned that she had to go to the hospital, and after serval surgeries she survived (she could actually died). And for the cost of the surgeries she called Macdonald and ask them kindly to pay for her surgery, but they refused. And after serval attempts she had to sue them to pay the bills. Many other people had also been critical burned because of this. Don't judge her!
Batman: "you can not sue my movie's" daredevil: "yes I can and way to many kills so your movies or now getting sued" batman: " that's is it someone help me my movie are not to dark right? I'd implore you to do more research on a case before mocking a victim. For example, the elderly lady that requested McDonald's to pay her hospital bills after receiving 3rd degree burns from a cup of coffee; before learning the details of this case I thought it was ridiculous as well. However, if you look into the details of that case in particular, you would likely agree that she does not deserve mockery for her plight. This prejudice opening prevented me from watching anymore Santorum videos for the night.

The McDonald's coffee case was actually really serious and wasn't frivolous. I think there's a pretty good documentary on tort reform on netflix called Hot Coffee.
+nupa311 An axe needs to be sharp in order to serve its purpose. Coffee doesn't need to be hot enough to give you 3rd degree burns... you can't possibly put the coffee in your mouth when it's that hot so it's stupid.
+nupa311 The coffee is supposed to be hot, but not so hot that it begins to melt flesh. Just look at the pictures of the case and you'll see what I mean.
MimicAraiun Agreed there's absolutely no reason for it to be that hot. What can you do with it? Not drink it! (for awhile), or you'd get 3rd degree burns on your tongue.
midnight15086 I doubt even waiting for a few minutes would allow it to cool down enough to not burn, that's how hot it was. The thing is that the coffee was WAY above the recommended temperature, it's both the woman's fault for spilling it and McDonalds for making the coffee that hot.
The woman who spilled coffee on herself got third degree burns and had to be rushed to the ER, and McDonalds only her gave her &1000 prior to the lawsuit.
Before stating that a lawsuit is ridiculous, please do your Research. The McDonalds "ridiculous " lady's lawsuit was only brought because she had 3rd degree burns requiring MANY surgeries, and she suffered horrific pain. She was one of many Hundreds of people who had brought it to McDonalds attention that their coffee was MUCH hotter than it was supposed to be, but McDonald's typically offered people 400. Dollars for their burns and most people didn't think anyone would care. The reason most of us thought it was "ridiculous" was because McDonald's spent a sum of money in a smear campaign against the 70+ year old woman that could have easily paid for all her surgeries and all the other people hurt by their coffee. I'm sure the executive's were told the woman was "ridiculous" also. The reason I did some research on it, was because I had thought it sounded like a frivolous lawsuit, and wanted the facts. I think it's awful to smear a 70 something year old persons name without even knowing the facts of the case. Imagine that maybe 12 people who heard all the facts, and even though McDonald's had their high paid lawyers arguing, found in favor of the lady, maybe knew more than those of us who weren't in the courtroom. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I felt so bad about what I had believed when I found what actually happened, and over 20 years later, people still smearing the poor woman's name, without any knowledge of the actual facts. Also, she tried to talk to the corporation. Suing was a last alternative for her, because she couldn't afford the medical bills that were mounting up because of the horrific burns she suffered. McDonald's could have done a better job, but I still love their 🍔! ;)
Every time someone mentions the McDonald's coffee lawsuit as ridiculous it makes me question there ability to read. Actually look into the lawsuit and not just the headline and I guarantee you won't call it ridiculous or frivolous again.
Me! Hey, do you guys remember the day Ohio was fenced in? That was crazy! I feel bad for the people who were still alive in there. They shouldn't have left those innocent people in there with Calipso, that's cruel.
please stop saying the old lady who got 3rd degree burn all over her crotch because they served the coffee right under boiling temperature and even McDonald said it was way to hot. all she wanted was for them to pay her medical bill for something that was caused by there wrong doing. It was only wanted a few thousand dollars and they offered her 300 bucks.anyone would do the same thing if it happens to them too.
The lady who dropped McDonald's coffee on her lap suffering third degree burns needed treatment then McDonald wanted to pay less for the treatment making her in a bad situation having not enough money she sued them then McDonald's payed people to lie about what really happened so the company didn't look bad McDonald's sold coffee at high tempatures
That lady suffered 3rd degree burns because of that coffee and companies made it look like a frivolous lawsuit, if you want to have an educational channel, get your facts straight
There's much more to that McDonald's coffee lawsuit. They made their coffee so hot that she received third degree burns between her thighs and had to be hospitalized and have skin grafts.
Those lawsuits are like me blaming owls for how much I suck at analogies

She had 3rd degree burns on her thighs and genitals and had to have skin grafts. At the time McDonald's kept their coffee only 2 degrees lower than the boiling point.

Anyone who sues for their own stupidity is just insane
@swolfe9668 the coffee really was far too hot to ever be served to customers, the image of her suing over the dangerously hot coffee was distorted by McDonalds in order to hurt her character and public perception.
@@swolfe9668even the most intelligent people spill liquids. Coffee that causes 3rd degree burns, 8 days in the hospital, skin grafting and 2 years of medical treatment is TOO HOT!

I will stand up in that coffee woman's defense as say she suffered from third degree burns and needed severe surgery. DOES IT REALLY NEED TO BE THAT HOT MCDONALDS
Actually the only reason she sued them was because she didn't know coffee was that hot and there was no warning on the cup, not because of the burns
+Olivia Loves Snow Thank you i was looking for another comment who actually knew the story

+Brian Yach your right the lady was third degre burn all around the genital , for those who think the case was stupid find the picture on google you will change your mind
+Nic Master It was still stupid since she would now that it was hot, and it was her own fault for not managing to hold it properly....
True.
McDonalds actually refused to pay her medical bills which prompted the lawsuit. She was awarded more money in the suit than what she asked for
+TurtleFace Yeah that irritates me that so many people are ignorant about the case and view the McDonalds coffee lawsuit as frivolous... she wasn't greedy, she didn't ask for that much to begin with and there were records that turned up of many other cases of people getting burned by their coffee... it did not need to be that hot. If people got third degree burns when it spilled on them, what would it do to your tongue if you tried to drink it right away? You couldn't, so what is the point in keeping it that hot?
but it's her fucking fault that she spilled her coffee
People need to be educated on that mc Donald's one. It's actually much more complicated then that, 3rd degree burns are serious. Just saying.
Still you would figure common sense would kick in to not fucking put coffee between your goddamn legs.
+Kaegan McDonald
the McDonalds coffee lady ISN'T that ridiculous if you read up on it.... the woman was hospitalized for eight days while she underwent skin grafting, followed by two years of medical treatment.... because the coffee they served was around 80-90 °C (176-194 °F)
STILL think it's a case of not using common sense ...
Should we start giving people room temperature coffee so they don't burn themselves or complain that there coffee is too hot, let's just put a ban on coffee and only allow iced coffee so nobody gets hurt, or will the coffee be too cold that they go into hypothermia.

coffee is supposed to be served hot
she was an older woman in an old car with no cup holder, so she used her legs to hold it the cup broke and burned basically her entire thigh area and her buttocks so bad, that the several surgeries she had to go through nearly claimed her life. the coffee that that McDonald's was selling was in temperatures exceeding 400℉. there is a documentary on Netflix in excruciating detail about the whole thing. the worst part is the family wasn't suing for some crazy amount, they just couldn't afford the medical bills and wanted McDonald's to pay them.
Well that lady who sued McDonald's because her coffee was hot, she was severely burned and McDonald's heats up their coffee to ridiculous temperatures.

i have seen a more ridiculous one. a woman sued a man for rape after he saved her from drowning after she hit her head and was knotted unconscious . since she didn't give him permion to touch her
That isn't raping, however if someone asks you to stop an action such as hugging, and you don't, that is considered sexual harassment. Not that I'm saying you were wrong or the woman asked him to stop, but raping is the forcing of sex on an individual, not saving their life.
+Queen's Ability actually she was knotted unconscious under water. so i guess he should of let her drown then
+Queen's Ability and it was because she didn't give him permission to touch her. that is why I said it was ridiculous. how is a unconscious person sinking under water supposed to give someone permission to touch them. the first thing to come someones mind if they see that happening is to save that person's life. its not about having that person's permission to touch them

Yeah she had like $40,000 in medical bills and when she tried to settle out of court with mcdonalds they only offered to pay 600$. She had no choice but to sue
Yeah, that lawsuit was totally reasonable

***** that was the point
0:13 Actually, that was valid. The burns she got were so bad that she had to get skin grafts. So that really was Ronald McDonald's fault.
Fun fact: She sued because McDonalds served unreasonably hot coffee and refused to pay her medical bills. She had third degree burns.

Don't be an idiot.
when he said it did not sit well with mr a$$ had me dying of laughter
the woman who sued McDonalds got Third degree burns on herself.
Tell me, what kind of coffee is that hot?
Giordan Diodato it's coffe
There's a limit though, especially if it's being transported by customers' cars.
Yeah. Only a clown would.. oh would you look at that, a clowns their mascot
Yep, I'm done with humanity.
its only 10 people thats barley 0.00001% of the whole human race
+David Garcia There's way more dumbasses than just these 10
But humanity's not done with you
What are you gonna do about it? Sue humanity ?..........wait a second
David Garcia That's actually more than 1%.
The victim of the hot coffee lawsuit got third degree burns I think it was justified
Lmfao Matthew fr dude you crack me the hell up. you had me rolling with the judge impersonation
I'm starting to think you're just a troll.
i'm going to make a company called "microapplesoftooglethesdaviosion & candysamsungcrush saga enterprises".

That Macdonald was sued thing. You haven't heard the real story:
She ordered a cafe from Macdonald, and she was sitting on her daughter.
What
4:07 imagine trying to sue a planet 😂
0:18 IT WAS 190 degrees Fahrenheit
or 88 degrees Celsius.
Matthew not to be rude but the lady with the coffee actually got third degree burnes and nearly died
8:10 Don't know why, but That was too funny
Batman: "you can not sue my movie's" daredevil: "yes I can and way to many kills so your movies or now getting sued" batman: " that's is it someone help me my movie are not to dark right? Because I am the dark knight? Right?" Me: " ok you two break it up before I'll get one of you to get sue ah yeah no I'm just joking but uh yeah this is so a good video so great job and peace out :)"
Mk
I heard a guy sued a homeowner after breaking into their house late at night and hurting himself after he tripped on the children's toys. Is this a rumor or is it real? :O
It's real, there's more cases like that then you'll imagine
+Sam Case It was in the movie Liar Liar. Different scenario but almost the same
+Sam Case If a Burglar breaks into your home and manages to injure themself upon entering, said Burglar is allowed to sue you.....it is true.....even if they are armed
+NothingnessKing and this is why you make sure you live in a area with a castle doctrine to make sure they do not leave alive thanks to the grave injustice that the criminal can sue you but the damages they caused will go ignored
+NothingnessKing Yeah, but can they sue me if they're dead?
What about the guy that sued Red Bull for not giving him wings?
Okay this is one of my favorite mathew santoro top 10s, This is hilarious.
MimicAraiun And of course her attorney's fault too for suggesting she sue for way more than she originally intended. Those lawyers :-p
I am surprised you didn't include the guy that sued god. That's stupid how can you sue a fake figure???
By just suing existence itself, or suing all religious people.
Fake ?
+Flamevortex3000 Sorry, Fake (atheist) untangible (scientific) omnipresent (religious) uncaring (agnostic)
+Juan Jaramillo I kinda liked the way Harry from Kingsman handled this type of confrontation xD
+Juan Jaramillo whats agnostic got to do with saying god doesn't exist?
McDonald's could have done a better job, but I still love their 🍔! ;)
The lady who dropped her coffee got severe burns on her legs and waist from coffee that was unsafe to drink.
I will sue myself for posting this stupid comment
It's not stupid enough.
i will sue myself for suing you for suing yourself for that stupid comment
did u win?
maybe.
For how much?
Every time someone mentions the McDonald's coffee lawsuit as ridiculous it makes me question there ability to read. Actually look into the lawsuit and not just the headline and I guarantee you won't call it ridiculous or frivolous again.
Their not there
+tanaiya anderson Did you just grammar nazi your own comment?
+mike hutchinson ITS A NEW MUTATION OF A GRAMMAR NAZI.....QUICK RUNN AWAY!!!! (jumps out of window)
Hot Coffee us a documentary about the subject. Really puts it in perspective.
Congratulations, you're the 1,784 billion trillionth person to comment this.
You’re impression of judges reminds me of the gungan Boss Nass from Star Wars the phantom menace. Also the use of Dr. Evil was a nice touch.
Who's watching this on spring break 3254

Me! Hey, do you guys remember the day Ohio was fenced in? That was crazy! I feel bad for the people who were still alive in there. They shouldn't have left those innocent people in there with Calipso, that's cruel.
9. Gertrude! hahaha from Sundae
I thought the same
please stop saying the old lady who got 3rd degree burn all over her crotch because they served the coffee right under boiling temperature and even McDonald said it was way to hot. all she wanted was for them to pay her medical bill for something that was caused by there wrong doing. It was only wanted a few thousand dollars and they offered her 300 bucks.anyone would do the same thing if it happens to them too.
Going through Matt's old videos 💚💚💚

+Simon k there is a 1 tho
She sued the company because she got 3rd degree burns from the hot mcdonald's coffee
The lady who dropped McDonald's coffee on her lap suffering third degree burns needed treatment then McDonald wanted to pay less for the treatment making her in a bad situation having not enough money she sued them then McDonald's payed people to lie about what really happened so the company didn't look bad McDonald's sold coffee at high tempatures
that's true... do you watch adam ruins everything?
Am I the only one that bursted out laughing when said “shoulda thought that one through” with the funny faces?
The McDonald's coffee lawsuit actually gave the woman 3rd degree burns
That lady suffered 3rd degree burns because of that coffee and companies made it look like a frivolous lawsuit, if you want to have an educational channel, get your facts straight
the coffee law suit was justified they served the coffee at a dangerous temps
Lmao Santoro you are nuts. Love the judge impersonation.
that hot coffee lawsuit wasn't dumb at all those burns were horrible and had to have been caused by extremely hot coffee
There's much more to that McDonald's coffee lawsuit. They made their coffee so hot that she received third degree burns between her thighs and had to be hospitalized and have skin grafts.
