Here in the land of timber and saw mills I would say people have an aversion to burning lumber. I have been asked if it's ok to burn 2x6's in a wood stove.
Geat video Dan! Also, real firewood burns longer and hotter. ( if you're burning a hardwood like oak). Most building lumber is soft, pine, burns fast. Your mini chunks are perfect! And like you said, they would work great for smoking. Offer a smoking box with mixed hardwood for a variety of flavors... apple, oak, maple, ect. You get it....good job!
Great video Dan! You’re spot on with this. I enjoyed the podcast this week covering this. I’d love to hear more on kilns and drying wood vs heat treating it. Have a good one!
Hey great video One question if The days are getting longer how come your videos are getting shorter you go from 11:12 minutes to 9 10 minutes with the ex going on you got no content? Lol just kidding good video thanks!
Good topic. Even in my bulk delivery orders, I am hesitant in putting in sawmill cutoffs. I do get them from time to time. I just think it's a "filler" kind of thing.
Excellent video Dan and I am all in with the "real and authentic" version of firewood especially when selling!! You have the same enthusiasm as I do about the mini stoves and tending to the real fire. Best of success in the new venture my friend!!
Nice video Dan. This will also be great for tail gate parties. By the way nice looking shirt. Where can I get one. Hahahaha. See ya tonight at live stream
Thank you...appreciate the order! And the Mesa XL is a great...I've only had mine for a few weeks and I think I like burning in it over my big fire pit...lol
You are so right, Dan on this great video. Real Firewood is the best to Burn. Pine 2×4's Burn to fast. I have ordered Firewood Deliveries before and Yes received Alot of Pine. So after getting Ripped off, I now get Log Length from a reliable Tree Service. I am going to look into a Mini Firewood Burner and do that. I have extra pieces after Cutting and Splitting. Keep up your Great Videos my Friend. PS: STILL A LITTLE WEAK BUT COMING ALONG. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY CARDIOLOGIST 1 HOUR EVERY 2TO3DAYS ONLY FOR 3MORE MONTHS. I CAN DO THAT AS LONG AS I CAN CUT AND Split. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Thanks Ron...glad to hear your recovery is still progressing. A little each day is better than nothing at all so just doing what you're doing and before long those 3 months will be up.
I like my firepits wide in diameter, that way I can fit 16-20 inch pieces of real wood. I like tending to my fires as well. These mini firepits are cool, but not my thing.
Yeah I was just making a spoof with the comparison and showing how there is a difference from taking 1x2s and cutting them down to short 'firewood'...lol
SO much bundle wood I see at stores and gas stations that are clearly sawmill off cuts. Nothing especially wrong with that but it definitely has a less genuine feel to it. Rough edge firewood lights easier, looks nicer and, IMO, burns better. Just a more enjoyable experience.
You’re on to something, Shifty. Those boxes of mini firewood are going to sell like hot cakes. Sure hope you have a kindling maker. Have you seen that processor that the guy in UK has? I think his channel is Oak Farm Firewood. It has a setting that can be adjusted to make kindling or firewood. Not sure about the cost.
hi there lets see now , saggy bags and shaky boxes ,filled with your little wood .for a baby fire , have to think about this , great show best to all john
Hahahahaha....yeah I have to think about this a bit as well. I guess if the bag sags and the wood is little ya know where it came from. Now that's what ya call Branding!! LOL
One of the reasons you don't want to use store bought lumber is the fact it has chemicals in it and creates smoke even in a smokeless fire pit. Stay safe.
I’ll buy yours before I buy from some of the other sponsored channels that dot really need it…. But I got to wonder who comes up with these ideas first?
Thanks...appreciate that. I did my 1st video on smaller firewood like this back in Dec. of '22. I've had a few local customers since and then end of last year started the process to get certified through the USDA and then 'officially' launched last week. 👍😀🍻
Hi Dan Great Demonstration On the Mini Firewood Does that Solo Messa XL have a fan under or At the Bottom of the Stove to Get the Air flowing Threw it or is that just a Vent and I could See People using this At the Cabana's or Tea Key Bar's 👍
Congrats Dan! What a great idea. Nothing like real firewood - best of luck!

Good luck with this new initiative Dan!!
Thanks Ludo....hope all is well my friend!
Sitting by the fire is relaxing and mesmerizing. I could sit by the fire for hours just watching it
Beatiful word, I understatement it in the context but dont know a decent translation in Dutch or French.
5:12 you just explained marriage to a tee! 😂😂
LMAO!! And I know which of those things I listed off is most important! hahaha
Geat video Dan!

Thanks! I plan on having mostly Oak & Maple in the 'mix'. I don't ever get any other wood....maybe a little Cherry here & there.

Gotta love your enthusiasm. Way to go.
Kudos for getting certified with whatever is needed to make that happen. Awesome achievement 😊
Genius!👍👍
More sales pitch than a regular Back 40 video, but I don’t hate it though, good on ya Dan for exploring this new area of firewood
Well done! I like it.
Good topic. Even in my bulk delivery orders, I am hesitant in putting in sawmill cutoffs. I do get them from time to time. I just think it's a "filler" kind of thing.
Yeah here & there mixed in isn't really a big deal, but not sure how a whole load would go over...lol
Most of those lumber scraps would get used in my shop.
Bill
Good luck on your new venture 😊

Thanks Obie...yeah this little Mesa stove is a hoot to fire up and sit around...definitely a whole new 'fire side' experience.
Best wishes for success with the idea! Don't forget to make a spot for the new mini logs on the roadside stand. 👍
Nice video Dan. This will also be great for tail gate parties. By the way nice looking shirt. Where can I get one. Hahahaha. See ya tonight at live stream
Never underestimate a wood hounds ability to turn nothing into something!
Got the Mesa XL for Xmas. Just ordered a box of mini firewood from you. Can't wait for our first s'more session with the fam!
Thank you...appreciate the order! And the Mesa XL is a great...I've only had mine for a few weeks and I think I like burning in it over my big fire pit...lol

These mini firepits are cool, but not my thing.
They hide to much of the Fire. You have to sit close and look down into it.
I will never have one either,
Nice! Hope you do well!!!
Dan that is cute looks like a participation trophy to me. There's nothing like a good fire pit.
Lumber is ok to burn if untreated I think. Probably not if selling though
Yeah I was just making a spoof with the comparison and showing how there is a difference from taking 1x2s and cutting them down to short 'firewood'...lol
Dan, New Sub here
Been watching your videos for awhile and I'm really liking your content.
Thank you for everything Keep it up
Hey thanks...and welcome! Glad to hear and appreciate ya being part of the Back 40! 🍻
A real fire bug!😂👍👍🇺🇸
Good luck

Yes indeed....totally agree. And for me the experience is really what it's all about.
Dan,may your mini wood sell so you have a better business in the future 😮😊❤
Thanks...appreciate that. 🍻
The master of mini (fire) wood! LOL.
Hahahaha...I Have the POWER!!
You’re on to something, Shifty. Those boxes of mini firewood are going to sell like hot cakes. Sure hope you have a kindling maker.

Thanks...we'll see how things go. I have seen Oak Farm Firewood's set up and that machine is very interesting.
Quite the infomercial you got there good job Ha Ha.
lol...I once was told if you don't toot your own horn, no one else will either! haha

I was also referring to suggestions of cutting 1"x2" 'stickers' on a sawmill and then just cutting them to 5" to use for mini firewood. 👍
Is that real firewood?

Thanks Tony...nope, no fan...just vents to pull the air in.
Were these 2x4s lol
lol...yep, but just to demonstrate the point & difference to 'real' firewood.
Calling a 4x4 spruce scrap an all-nighter is a stretch.
Are you familiar with the word satire?
@@Back40Firewood yup, sorry. Didn’t pick that up.
Does this make you a Mini Hobbyist? 🤔🤔🤔
Hmmmm....now I never thought of that, perhaps it does. lol
