    Congrats Dan! What a great idea. Nothing like real firewood - best of luck!

    Here in the land of timber and saw mills I would say people have an aversion to burning lumber. I have been asked if it's ok to burn 2x6's in a wood stove.

    Sitting by the fire is relaxing and mesmerizing. I could sit by the fire for hours just watching it

      Beatiful word, I understatement it in the context but dont know a decent translation in Dutch or French.

    Geat video Dan!
    Also, real firewood burns longer and hotter. ( if you're burning a hardwood like oak).
    Most building lumber is soft, pine, burns fast.
    Your mini chunks are perfect!
    And like you said, they would work great for smoking.
    Offer a smoking box with mixed hardwood for a variety of flavors... apple, oak, maple, ect.
    You get it....good job!

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! I plan on having mostly Oak & Maple in the 'mix'. I don't ever get any other wood....maybe a little Cherry here & there.

    Great video Dan! You’re spot on with this. I enjoyed the podcast this week covering this. I’d love to hear more on kilns and drying wood vs heat treating it. Have a good one!

    Good topic. Even in my bulk delivery orders, I am hesitant in putting in sawmill cutoffs. I do get them from time to time. I just think it's a "filler" kind of thing.

    Excellent video Dan and I am all in with the "real and authentic" version of firewood especially when selling!! You have the same enthusiasm as I do about the mini stoves and tending to the real fire. Best of success in the new venture my friend!!

    You are so right, Dan on this great video. Real Firewood is the best to Burn. Pine 2×4's Burn to fast. I have ordered Firewood Deliveries before and Yes received Alot of Pine. So after getting Ripped off, I now get Log Length from a reliable Tree Service. I am going to look into a Mini Firewood Burner and do that. I have extra pieces after Cutting and Splitting. Keep up your Great Videos my Friend. PS: STILL A LITTLE WEAK BUT COMING ALONG. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY CARDIOLOGIST 1 HOUR EVERY 2TO3DAYS ONLY FOR 3MORE MONTHS. I CAN DO THAT AS LONG AS I CAN CUT AND Split. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Ron...glad to hear your recovery is still progressing. A little each day is better than nothing at all so just doing what you're doing and before long those 3 months will be up.

    I like my firepits wide in diameter, that way I can fit 16-20 inch pieces of real wood. I like tending to my fires as well.
    These mini firepits are cool, but not my thing.

    • @m9ovich785
      @m9ovich785 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They hide to much of the Fire. You have to sit close and look down into it.
      I will never have one either,

    SO much bundle wood I see at stores and gas stations that are clearly sawmill off cuts. Nothing especially wrong with that but it definitely has a less genuine feel to it. Rough edge firewood lights easier, looks nicer and, IMO, burns better. Just a more enjoyable experience.

    You’re on to something, Shifty. Those boxes of mini firewood are going to sell like hot cakes. Sure hope you have a kindling maker.
    Have you seen that processor that the guy in UK has? I think his channel is Oak Farm Firewood. It has a setting that can be adjusted to make kindling or firewood. Not sure about the cost.

    One of the reasons you don't want to use store bought lumber is the fact it has chemicals in it and creates smoke even in a smokeless fire pit. Stay safe.

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was also referring to suggestions of cutting 1"x2" 'stickers' on a sawmill and then just cutting them to 5" to use for mini firewood. 👍

  • @jimhoge3252

      Thanks...appreciate that. I did my 1st video on smaller firewood like this back in Dec. of '22. I've had a few local customers since and then end of last year started the process to get certified through the USDA and then 'officially' launched last week. 👍😀🍻
