- The Kyosho Raider ARR gets a spin on Harry's track. How does it handle? Watch for yourself and then listen to my thoughts on it. Plus... Watch how I seriously injure myself during the filming of this video.
Nice to see a classic in action 👍👍👍👍
Kyosho also produced a raider pro.
I always enjoy watching your videos, great content. Keep up the good work.
From what I see... the only difference from the original raiders... (raider, raider ARR, turbo raider) to the Pro versions were the body and wheels. Maybe a different motor too? IDK, I kind of like the original body style of the raider better than the pro version IMO... Thanks for the comment and support.
If you do upgrade the motor you might need the rear cvd's from option house W-5062 is the part number as the original swing shafts are plastic with metal pins, they'll snap like twigs with hotter motors apparently.
LA245's are from the kyosho lazer zx-r (same length as w-5062) & might also fit if you can't come across the w-5062 cheaply, might need a shim or two before it goes into the hubs as the axle past the dogbone is longer then the 5062's
The red re-release shocks from the ultima / scorpion might be a good alternative shock or the optima re-release front shocks.
shock length rear is 73mm & in the front its 70mm
I had the Raider kit. But the body didn’t come painted red mine was brand new clear and had to paint it myself. The rims on mine were white too. I painted it gold because I was racing 1/10th scale pan car oval track at the time and had leftover gold paint because I always painted my race car bodies in that color. My race car was a Bolink roundtracker 2. Gotta love the 80’s!!!
Thanks for the comment. Yes the Raider was offered in 3 kits... Yours that you build and paint. Then there was the TURBO Raider that came with Gold Oil Shocks and a Kyosho Mega Motor and bearings. Then there was the Raider ARR.. which is what I had.. Pre Built.... Still love mine. 80 Rock... Memories lol...
I have the kit version with the red body. My 1st RC. Still have it and just dug it out and got it running again with modern electronics. Oh, and I bought the gold shocks back in the day. I remember that they were expensive then for an eleven year old. They really do improve performance. And after all these years they still don’t leak. Amazing! Thanks again for the trip down memory lane. Oh and I do plan on hitting some tracks!
I love these videos of you running these vintage rc’s on that sweet little track.Keep em coming man.Would be cool to see the optima mid or turbo optima :)
I had the raider arr. That mechanical speed control was interesting.
"There it is, you're done. into the hospital" haha true friend there. someone who can still make fun of you while you're in pain.
Harry must have a very understanding wife! Way to go Harry!
You know what...I like that good looking permanent backyard track!
Get well soon, Ari. Hope you get the conversion of your raider done as well.
Great video!
I just subscribed, and have a question. Where did you get the Lunch Box picture?
Keep up the great work!
Asplenia.
Thanks for subscribing. I found the image online and made my own poster and then framed it.
Get well soon man.
"I'm after a cheap set of original Kyosho Gold shocks." Bahahahahahahahahaa good luck mate.
Fun track session :)
Great run video. Hope your leg is all good soon!
Nice RC Car, I’ve been trying to Find one of these for my Collection. Run Video is Very Cool
What particular motor are you using in it my grasshopper I put a dirt tuned motor in it it's a very good.
These will work. Same length. If your not set on originals.. Nice video.
Wow, this brings back memories. This was one of my first "hobby grade" RCs as well! Just a heads up, those swing shafts are quite susceptible to breaking rather easily.
Great videos and cool track, hope the leg heals quickly
Enjoyed the video!
I have the Turbo version, love it... had it since a kid. It has the gold shocks and I even still have the original tires (rears are in good condition)! I only have to original front rims (I think I broke the rear ones as a kid). I could part with the front rims but would need to source a replacement. Just needs some new dogbones as they are toast and they are on backorder from Kyosho
Also have a Turbo Ultima Pro XL and a Big Brute!
Wheels look like the same as on the Lazer ZX also.
It was my first hobby grade RC car 👍
Brushless raider would be crazy.
Hey Tamiya might have some gold ones for you I mean oil filled shocks.
I just picked up a raider arr brand new in the box....never ran. The box is a little roached n some of the sticker placement isnt perfect but its new. I paid almost $300 a few ago...
Thats about what I paid for mine. NIB.. the stickers were not applied though. I have a Turbo Raider Restoration video coming out in 2 weeks.
Laughed out loud when you got jumped by the truck! We r getting older!
I found a turbo raider body for like 30 to 40 dollars I found rims that are chrome plated like the the turbo raider but they were 99.00 dollars
You need to get a Chase car to film it. as I said about the dirt tuned motor it would give you what you want drop a 4000 milliamp 50c discharge rate and I bet you it'll do over 20 miles an hour cuz that's what it is doing in my grasshopper.
Hey you know how they have the legendary series why don't they have legendary series basic of the simpler for example this car the Pegasus and the Icarus.
Being a parts purist can be expensive
It wasn't that quick it took me and my dad 8 hours to build that thing if not more
