The old station looked just as all the old stations should look. There's no need to remove platforms because the rails have gone. Take the platforms away and within a short time, no trace exists. Just brambles. Nice to see the coach on display as well. That sirloin steak looked pretty tasty.
Did a ghost hunt there once. Very very interesting night. Myself and another saw ‘something’ pass between us and zip off round the corner of an old carriage.
Like many of these comments a great walk through stunning countryside. I've visited the ex-station byt, somehow, I missed the pub. What a charming place, must add it to my list! Thanks, Marq,
Very wise about the cows. I filmed some for Washington video last week and was approached by a woman saying "Can I stroke them, they are so cute?" I told her that they can break arms and spared her from spending Christmas in hospital.
Any excuse to find an old door!! Interesting film, Mark, and great to see the things at the station. Shame about the corrugated iron tunnel linings though. Rather spoils the ambience. But an enjoyable amble round a very pretty place. Thank you.
Lovely tour around West Grinstead, Marq. It’s good to see that much of the station survives - the station house is on the market at the moment for £850k! The line through West Grinstead should have survived really - it was built as double track, it could have been singled, was a useful diversionary route and some pretty big villages. At about 10:50, you can see the spire of St Hugh’s Charterhouse, the only post-reformation Carthusian monastery- its enormous but very private. West Grinstead also has a Catholic Church that is an important catholic shrine (and the burial place of Belloc) - shrine of our Lady of Consolation.
Hi Marq, found West Grinstead station a while ago not been to the church as yet. I bet The Windmill Inn is cozy now with the log fires burning, just what I had here last evening, really cozy. Happy New Year to you
I love all the railway furniture reinstated.
Nice one Marq. I quite fancy walking part if not all of the Downs Link
Yes, it's on my list too.

I was surprised it wasn't a burger! Mid October looks very summery.
Such an interesting walk, thanks for sharing. I’ve driven past the Windmill inn many times didn’t realise how lovely it is.
Worth a visit.

Really fascinating place Andrew.
Enjoyed your exploration of West Grinstead. Thanks for taking us along with you - amusing you seemed to be constantly assaulted by trees!!
Thanks Jean, I actually love Trees!

Thanks Bernie, the Tunnel is a bit of an odd ambience as you say.
Very pritty little place.

Thanks the info Matthew. Happy New Year.
Nice video, enjoyed it. Next time you visit look for the hidden siding with rails still in place, just behind the gradient sign, a Dumpman favourite.
Thanks Dumpman, thanks for the tip.

@@MarqEnglish same to you Marq.
I'm going out for some fresh air now, not going far as I did enough steps yesterday at Sheffield Park Gardens
"I love the doggy styles" Oh dear Oh dear :-)
