    Watched your video for a refresher take out. 2nd one on my 97 xj. You were spot on as always. Went flawless. Not being a mechanic but being a jeep owner and not being able to remember quite as well. Boink!!!

    Install is the same as reverse? Except for that cut transmission line. I'm going to need my transmission after I put in my new radiator. Guess I'll look up how to do that but use the tool instead.

    Just did this last week. My son's XJ radiator clogged and blew the passenger side tank off while I was driving at midnight in a snow event. I had to drive another 10 minutes with no coolant to get to work. Got a new radiator and had it swapped out in an hour, the most difficult part being the ATF line and running to HF to get the proper tool deep enough to release it. Overheated the 4.0 with no issues. It was so hot it stalled and wouldn't turn over once I got it to work. We trailered it home the next day.

    It’s hilarious to see XJ that are not in areas with road salt. My XJ is from Arizona and has only been in Michigan 5 years. It took me two days to get this radiator out along with a new trans line with quick connect because everything was rusty. Spent two days and only broke off one core support bolt. It’s shocking what five Michigan winters will do to a vehicle.

      There’s a clip, it just pops out when you squeeze it in the tranny side. On the radiator side it unscrews.

    not sure why anyone would buy a radiator out of a junkyard. Plus you would not want to use the transmission cooler on a used radiator and the cost to get cooler cleaned would cost more than a new radiator to begin with

      @bleepinjeep  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +marble head what happens if you find an aluminum 4 core radiator in the salvage yard?

    • @ellieprice3396
      @ellieprice3396 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey guys, he's only showing how to remove a radiator if you need to for whatever reason. Not everyone can afford a new one and besides, some these old ones are okay.

    • @doublebulbing
      @doublebulbing 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      was your video made for the expert ? yes or no
      If yes then the expert would know the risks of a used radiator and if they needed something special or found some aftermarket gem then its a win for the salvage yard
      if no then when making videos someone that knows nothing it probably helps to warn someone that junk yard radiators might not be the best thing to do for your car without proper cleaning and then they risks of the dirty transmission cooler from the donor vehicle contaminating your transmission with shrapnel

      True Story
      Pull-a-part price RADIATOR (W/O SHROUD)$42.50$6.50 core
      Jeep wrangler radiator new from eBay
      $58 shipped to your door ( to my door a month ago)
      $0 core
      In this case the salvage yard might not be a good deal after all
      Plastic ages with time and some parts are not worth the risk buying used for the regular person trying to fix their car trying not to end up broken down on the side of the road ( maybe my new one will do the same thing only time will tell )

      eugene labranch I can't think of any way other than a quick visual inspection. Not like you can pressurize it to see if it leaks.

  • @gt150glas

    Your going to use that radiator? Good luck with that. Probably leaks worse than the one your changing.

    • @jeep146
      @jeep146 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was on the fence about that. The trouble is most original radiators are almost 20 years old. If I had my heart set on using a recycled one I would not use it unless I took it to a radiator shop. Saving a few bucks ain't worth being stuck in the woods or on some highway.
