      Thanks! I will be doing another Longrow review later this week, the Longrow 12 Malbec, as well as a LIVE side by side of two of their whiskies.

    Thanks for the review! Going for almost $90 now in my area, but I still might pick this one up to round out my growing collection. Only so many Campbelltowns to choose from.

      Stefan, I just paid 100 for it and do believe it is completely worth it. Most interesting, balanced, and delicious whiskey I’ve ever had

    Great review Erik, the Longrow the fruit forward, some peat, and sweetness to balance it all out is in my wheelhouse. And price is kind of incredible for what you get. Cheers!

      Thanks for the comments The world of whisk(e)y is HUGE! For me, it's all about exploration and trying new things while learning about the history, people and culture behind the whisky.

    Gear review as always Erik. The longrow is definitely one of my favorites. It’s generally pretty easy to find too since, like you talked about on a previous live stream, the packaging doesn’t exactly draw in people who are unfamiliar w/ the brand. Plus the phrase heavily preated scares ppl off.

    Great review! The Longrow's have always come across as a little overpriced to me although they're probably really good. I'm just a stickler for trying to buy the whisky I think I would enjoy the most, at that season of time, and at that price point.

    A very good alternative to Islay malts, another one is BENRIACH 10 yo Curiositas, on the Speyside this time (this for the readers, coz I'm sure Erik knows that one already), Cheers !

      Awesome. Came to the comments looking for alternatives. Is the benriach smoky ten up the same alley?

    • @GregsWhiskyGuide
      @GregsWhiskyGuide 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LPKJFHIS Hi, it is different, some prefer it to the old, some not..It is good for me, but so far (only 10/15 cl tried, mind you), I tend to find it dryer than the "Curiositas", more "modern style" Benriach, with more emphasis on the virgin oak, which is for me not a good thing...Try before you buy, once gain, would be my conclusion...

    Best backing tracks in the game. Great analysis with great music pairing with each time. Also I just found these locally but they are going for $60 to $70 USD. Don't know if I want to deviate from the Ardbegs or Laphroaigs that I can get around that price range.

      You should because it's not an imitator and Springbank is superior to those distilleries.

    Nice review of a great whisky. Note that it's CampbelTOWN not Campbelton, seems to be a common mistake 👍

    Great review. Makes me want to get a dram. Just a minor comment. I don’t think there’s any need to fast forward through your tasting. Sometimes it’s good to see a person’s reaction when the whiskey hits their pallet and they’re contemplating what they’re experiencing. Especially if it’s something really enjoyable or horrible. Thats what hooks people ( just watch any of the “Irish people try” videos). At times, i think rex and daniel from the whiskey vault do so well is because they get so expressive with their reactions. Either way. Good job. See you in the next one.

      THANKS for the comments and feedback. I think the primary thing I want to edit out are all the nose and mouth noises (lip smacking) that a few others notoriously have in their reviews.... SNNNIIIIIFFFFFFFFF! When I do speed things up, I do leave in the "wow" and other similar expressions also convey my reaction to a good whisky.

      Erik Wait. Got it. Horst leuning from whiskey.com audibly swirls his in his mouth for what seems like a long time. My son thought it was particularly unappealing. It didn’t really bother me, but i see what you’re getting at.

      That is actually my biggest pet peave with some reviewers. Amplified mouth noises really bug me out, especially when they're really getting after it, so thank you.
