This is soooo mighty fantastic. I'm 51 now and remember the first broadcast. Watched it many, many times ever since and still love it. "Always have, always will" (Quote from True Romance)....
remember this one friday after school thought it was well cool dave said 'we smoke the right stuff you know' classic! on tv . well it was for a 14 year old anyway !
Cool! I remember catching this on TV around 1985 and having it on VHS for a number of years. This was the first time I heard The Right Stuff too. Nice upload thanks :)
taped this from the tele meself :-) it]'s gathering safety priceless dust covering in my "specials" box in the attic.... dave brock can never be replaced but "monster magnet" do a very enjoyable rendition of the right stuff.......
Huw is an amazing guitarist ! :-) Angels of Death came from a studio album called Sonic Attack. The Right Stuff is actually a Robert calvert song. It came from an odd-ball album called Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters. Good luck with you Hawkwind adventures, for me Space Ritual was their finest moment. Huw had left the band by that point though. He has played on and off with them from day one I believe.
Fossilised Muso I have played this actual guitar. I used to know HLL and visited him his home in north London. He let me play his Howard Roberts Fusion, wow, what a beauty. It had a silky low action and felt super smooth and easy to play. I offered to buy off him and he told me to ‘piss off’ lol.
Hi, glad you like my upload :-) You are indeed very fortunate to have the whole series !!! Like harrybails requests...is there any chance you could upload the Venom set from ECT please ? Please mail me if you do :-)
You'll find the venom set if you type in "venom live 1985".Should be at the top. Smokin the right stuff eh? might end up getting this clip flagged. On a more serious note anyone know what kind of guitar dave is using?
If I remember correctly (I can't have been there, right...), they should have closed with Brainstorm but that got punted for the band that followed, the ultimately forgettable Warrior. Unremarkable metal dressed in costumes modelled on Klingon armour, or something like that. A criminal use of record company influence if ever there was one.
Huw Lloyd-Langton....a very underrated guitarist...I loved his fluid style.RIP, I bet ur rockin' in Space.....good journey.
Hawkwind is the Alpha & the Omega

Love it! There are TWO rare things to see in this video: Clive Deamer on drums and Alan Davey with all his hair! (Sorry Al!)

Ahh, the Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion, or Fusion III ? Nice catch btw :)

Nice one captain Brock and co
I might be wrong (and usually am), but I think Huw is playing a Gibson Blueshawk.
I love this so much I cover it in my own Acoustic Mayhem stylee I'll post a Vid up as soon as I can get some decent footage lol

. . . . yu no . .. yeap we knew that one dave . .
The right stuff indeed
What albums are these from? I need more 80s Hawkwind, I really like Huw's playing
Does anyone know the original broudcast date? Also trying to find the dates for some other E.C.T. programmes.
It doesn't mention anything about this on the Hawkwind home-page mate ?
Does anyone still have any full ECT shows that they can put on disc to trade??
Gibson Howard Roberts is what it is.....
what would space ritual have sounded like if HLL had stayed with the band? We will never know......
have Genesis ever played any of PG's stuff then ?
Victim: If you want more Calvert stuff, check out HeidiLandRover's films on TH-cam :¬)
Ey-up Hawkboy ;¬)
Who is the drummer on this?
Rick Martinez
@@hawkboy451 Thanks, he's more in the Ginger Baker style than the traditional HW style.
Clive Deamer
Dave Brock sounds more like Paul Weller here......
1985

Just don't sound right without Calvert's voice. Love Hawkwind... but... no, sorry.
