- Welcome to Namibia! And welcome to part 2 of an incredible road trip through one of the least populated countries in the world. This country about 1,5 time the size of France mainly consists of desert landscape. In the previous episode we traveled along the coast of South Africa from Cape Town, to visit the first highlight of the country and the absolute number one sight: the Sossusvlei.
In this episode we continue the drive through an otherworldly no man's land. Situated on the coast, just outside the extensive Namibia desert and surrounded by salt flats, is an industrial town called Walvis Bay. It's actually an African name, originally Dutch, named after the 'walvis', which means whale. We find out typical things about Namibia, head into nature, see pink lakes, salt flats and thousands of flamingoes. Up next will be Swakopmund, Cape Cross and Etosha National Park for safari.
Our journey through Africa is part of a one and a half year trip around the world. We can even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines. Zanzibar and Tanzania are already destination number 21 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for a year. Follow us on this world tour, first in Tanzania, from Zanzibar to the safari parks on the mainland and then to many more beautiful destinations in Africa! We still travel non-stop all year and film everything, with a new episode every week. Also take a look at instagram @woutoftheworld or www.woutoftheworld.nl

I am going to live in Walis Bay with my family in february 2024 and we are anxious and curious about the region. Your videos about the Journey over Namibia are beautiful, dude! Congrats and thank u for sharing!
Amazing video as always 🤩 you have nspired me to travel to Namibia woth my 3 years old daughter. Could you please advise what was a temperature like and if you use any malaria prevention?
Beautiful. What camera and lens dus you use to film this?
👍Correction : desert part is only 30% of Namibia's territory.Kalahari desert is in South East but it's mainly inside Botswana and SA. Namib desert is along the entire coastline of Namibia. No desert inland until Zambia border. Lots of rivers and vegetation in northeast Namibia Kavango and Caprivi regions.
Hi Mzerk, 92% is desert and savannah is what I said right?
We have traveled in all those countries as you’ll see in the previous and coming videos. Sometimes these comments are a bit strange, as I didn’t say that Namibia is all desert 🤪 Nowadays people correct, even when there is nothing TO correct..
