  • Ammo prices - especially popular pistol and rifle calibers like 9mm and 5.56 - have increased recently. So, how do you practice at the shooting range when you're likely on a tighter budget?
I use two low round count drills - Dot Torture and Stop and Go - to practice.

Good stuff. More dry fire and tighten up that left hand wrist. Also are you left eye dominant but right handed?

Nice video bud 👍 I think it’s a relevant topic and I see you’re continually practicing your fundamentals still with this repetition. I’d add that one really good thing you can do when ammo is tight, add a new dynamic such as moving to positions and getting your heart rate up. This adds a situational dimension to the equation and makes each shot more valuable. Look for drills or create drills where you’re moving. You can lay out a grid of cones and even speed walk around them however you want and add that to an existing drill you already know. Even drawing while approaching your target or side stepping while drawing/firing adds a huge challenge. If you can accurately aim down sights and hit your target while moving, you’ve made those rounds count.

Oh man that’s a great idea! Yeah one thing I wish these drills had/I wish I practiced more is movement. I’m def gonna incorporate that more next time - solid suggestion!

You need to work on your breathing. You're straining when acquiring your sight picture. You should be exhaling when getting your sights aligned. It's something you'll probably only notice when you rewatch yourself doing it. In the moment you might be forgetting it. Breathing is crucial to the fundamentals of marksmanship.
Good reps though man. That's a drill I'll have to start doing.

Dude I’ve actually noticed I always exhale pretty heavily as I’m drawing my pistol. I’m not sure why lol. You’re basically saying that - just like aligning sights on a rifle - this also applies to pistols?

@jamesshoots You do, but then you stop and hold your breath. You want the exhale to be continuous, squeazong the trigger at the bottom portion of the exhale. Fundamentals of marksmanship apply to all forms of shooting. Even when I'm hunting my kids down with nerf guns, it applies lol.
