    Thank you for posting man, as an old ZXR400 warrior, i loved this.

    the engine braking is almost that of a two-stroke on such a small 400cc engine displacement , this makes the driving more difficult and so is the driver more deserving !!👍👍

      engine breaking depend on inertia whole rotational weight in engine influding flywhell froction and couple other stuff …. and on displacement to rpm ratio 400 cc at 14 k rpm break stronger engine than me sv 650 at 7 krpm 🤭 ….it depend to what type of bike you comapre it naturally .

    Always loved it when guys with bigger bikes found out they were beating by a 400!

    My ZXR 400 L had maxton tuned rear suspension. The bike was transformed from a skippy, harsh thing into a motorcycle with functional rear suspension.

    I am a fan of the smaller 400 bikes; like NC30 or VFR400, and the FZR400 too. and this ZXR400 seems to kick but too. It is sad they didn't get that much attention in the American market after the early 90's... here, it seem big is all it is about; but that doesn't interest me as much as the smaller race bikes do.

      I know it's an old comment but the reason they were not as popular in the US is because the US only has one "tier" for a motorcycle license while in Japan and Europe you have multiple, each limiting either the ccm you can drive or the power. So these bikes were usually driven by beginners and those that enjoyed the twisties. The US usually has straight roads and not that many twisties so the desired motorcycles are those that go fast in a straight line. Especially when you consider that US also has a big drag-racing culture while Europe and Japan is more about cornering. For me, the biggest thing is that they didn't make more of them and kept producing some of the more rarer replacement parts. Cheers!

    Rear end might be too stiff in its setup.
    Check Rear Compression
    Rear Rebound maybe too slow to release the shock and spring,
    Check Linear or progressive spring rate

      I think a slipper clutch would be more useful.

    It's just like cars, when you brake hard the rotor heats up and when you stop like at the light of a off ramp to a highway the pads keep the heat held into the rotor more than where the pads are not. That's why when you brake it shakes so hard, the pads and the caliper is moving over the thicker spot then to the thinner and at a really fast speed you have pulsation.

      DH Racing.Well never under estimate Kawasaki.Guess what A zx6000RR (2002/3)slipper clutch (the racing model not the 636) spline and gear off crank goes on ZXR250 (1988 to 1998 motor ).Clutch basket is taller but can be made to fit.ZXR750 (L/ and ZX7(1996) slipper clutches are used an Z900/GPZ 1100 motors all the time.So don,t be sure you can,t.

    Hey bud not a ECU its a cdi in the zxr 400 you can switch to a race spec but there not cheap and I would switch to a 50 t rear sprocket for knockhill

    I knew that you would get that ducati on a bend and he has a tendency to slow right down on bends especially on the last right hand bend before the start/stop straight.

    • @RogueRider1000
      @RogueRider1000  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! This was back when i had a stock ECU/CDI and no quickshift, the limit is 14.5k stock, so camera angle etc makes it look more. If you see them going more than that, it's likely to be fitted a programmable ECU/CDI.

  • @Mobilnykurnik
    @Mobilnykurnik 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi mate, do you still race? ive got a question do you use some sort of quickshifter or you just that skilled to change gears? because I cant really hear any gap between gear changes. Thanks and this is some proper racing here nice to watch ;)

    • @RogueRider1000
      @RogueRider1000  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michal Danko I do still race, check out my channel for the latest videos :) I didnt have a quickshifter in this video, just clutchless upshift, i.e. shut the throttle a fraction and shift with the lever (this works on the road bike too).I now have a quickshifter so i can hold the throttle open and not unsettle the bike by shuttling the throttle when changing gear mid-corner. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed! :)

    • @Mobilnykurnik
      @Mobilnykurnik 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DH Racing Thanks for a fast response ;) Ive been trying out all this clutchless shifts but they are not as good as yours haha probably all I need is more time riding and experience, but yeah you do it properly. I've got a question about the quickshifter...how does it work on carburettor bikes, as far as I know even if it cuts the ignition off for less then second it will still suck in the fuel+air mixture creating a loud explosion in the exhaust?. Thanks for reply and I will be waiting for more videos on board as well as from paddocks. Good Luck ;)

    • @RogueRider1000
      @RogueRider1000  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, just practise, a quick action throttle (mine is 1\4 turn) also helps, it means its just a twitch of the wrist and careful timing rather than an intentional close and re-open of the throttle.
      Quickshifter cuts the ignition on carb bikes, but only for milliseconds, I dont know what its like on a std ecu, as the zxr 400 normally sparks on the exhaust cycle for emission reasons, a programmable race ECU like mine doesnt, but it still gives a quiet pop rather than an explosion.

    • @Mobilnykurnik
      @Mobilnykurnik 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DH Racing Can my standard ECU be flashed to make it work with quickshifter or does it have to be "race" ECU specially made or smth?. What about brakes? I will shortly upgrade to zx10 mc and Hel brake lines, this should help me for more feel on the brake. If its alright could you tell me what do you run brake wise. Thanks

    • @RogueRider1000
      @RogueRider1000  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michal Danko not sure about the std ECU being flashed, not heard of it being done myself. I had a stock m/c in this video but i now have a brembo radial which for me gives much more braking power with less effort at the lever. If you havent already got steel braided brake lines on a 20y/o bike i would reccomend it, the old rubber brake hoses dont last forever.

    Do you have a quick shifter installed?

    • @RogueRider1000
      @RogueRider1000  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not in this race no, lots of practice with clutch-less up shifts by slightly rolling off the power and pressing the lever at the right time. I did go on to install a quickshifter a year or so later.

    • @RogueRider1000
      @RogueRider1000  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, could be on the power earlier & harder, the bike is lighter, i'm over the top on aero (super tucked in)

    • @shanecannon6426
      @shanecannon6426 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My old zxr400 also kept up with a Ducati 748 on a track day. How? The zxr400 is very stable even when you accelerate very early away from corners. They also have good aero...with a small frontal area. Finally the engine power delivery and the gearing mean it keeps on the boil.. so the acceleration is good even at higher speeds. They are just a very good overall package.

      @@shanecannon6426 naaaaah ,,weelll yea you are right they are stable have low drag asf but duc 748 even weakest basic version have way more 🌪👊🏻 than zx4 r if this zx4 r is stock and driver weight are similar than it can be only one thing dude on duc dont go at max at straight 😁👌🏻 unless he have some engine failure 🤷🏻‍♂️ duc have 105 hp this basic version cos s verison is 115 hp wheras zx4 r is 65-70 hp os duc is heavier but if you calculate power to weight ratio with rider on both it turns out it still have massivelly advantage in power to weight ratio 350 vs 250 hp/ton with 90 kg rider on both 🫣 its completely diffrent thrust 🌪 classs ….. and it is not for sure wrong gearing probably when rider shifts at 10,5 k rpm depend how long it hold max power rpm dont drop lower than 8-9 k rpm where it still have way more power than zx4 r on straight for beat duc 749 bigV2 you need zx6 r 👌🏻 zx4 r stock vs stock have 0 chance on straight it cant even hang on tail 749 duc unless like im wrote dude on duc dont push it to the max than yea sure 👌🏻 zx4 r have similar straight ,out of corner acceleration like mine 70 hp sv 650 s 👌🏻 but with duc 749 even basic weakest version NO CHANCE 👌🏻749 just have to much power 😁👌🏻 put on this duc pro at the same tires and he is gone 🤭👌🏻 yea gearing is goood 👍🏻 rpm dont drop under 9 k rpm when rider shift to higher gear at 11 k rpm so it always have masiive power advanatage against zx4 r thers no chance for zx4 r to have similar acceleration like this 749 🤭 👉🏻 m.th-cam.com/video/5sL6Lb2uYL4/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUYZHVjYXRpIDc0OSBhY2NlbGVyYXRpb24g what we seen on this video 749 vszx 4 r can be explain only be 3 or 4 stuff 1 rider on duc dont accelerate at max 2 zx4 r after massive engine tune for 90 hp+ os 3 duc engine failure it have way less power than stock healthy should have 4 roder on zx4 r weoght 20 kg and in the same time bike prepare only for track riding also weight 20-30 kg less and rider on duc weight 120 kg os 🤭 stock vs stock both healthy pro roder push both to the max the same weight rider well on duc up to certain diffrenc rider still can ne even much heavier and 749 is still gone 🤭 🌪 👌🏻 100-160 km/h duc 3,7-4 sec basic weakest version vs zx4 r 6-7 sec 🤷🏻‍♂️
