i have been using Buteo single person hide with some success. I got it with snoot (You call it sleeve) but it looks like when moving lens, this sleeve draws more attention vs keeping lens inside hide. Sometimes i use special netting around the sleeve to blend it more with the hide's body. I think the best way to use sleeve would be with special apron with ribbons on top of it, so there wouldn't be a long sleeve sticking out of the hide. Probably gonna buy bigger hide aswell in the next spring. More room = i dont have to open hide door to use low angle position, more space for other gear and just more overall comfort.
You make folding these hides look so easy could you please do a video on folding fitted sheets because no matter how many times I’ve tried that skill has always eluded me 😊
I have been using the buteo hide for many years and absolutely agree with you, it's a great thing! Thanks for the video, which confirmed my purchase! Many thanks and best regards, Rolf
I attended one of yours workshops in Jessops, Leicester about a million years ago. I don’t crop, and I’m sure that comes from starting out with slide f8lm. For me it’s about the experience as much as the photo so I’m staying with not cropping. Old schools rules!
Interesting that you should do this video now as I received my buteo hide a moth ago. Only thing I can say against it was that the hide ships from Belgium and I was stung for over £60 of unexpect import duties.
Yes this has been mentioned to them asking that they make it clear on their web site. Also they are trying to get a distributer in the U.K. to solve the problem.
Hi Mike, good video. The hood over the aperture is a good idea. The zips I think may have better longevity than the hook and loop but sound wise I agree it’s negligible. The tent pegs those are the type that is mostly used now with tents you push them in with your feet, they are far less prone to bending than the old pegs used to.
You make the fold down look effortless 👍. One observation on the model III you demonstrated when you unzip the aperture/window the flap falls forward outside of the hide and clearly show a very bright yellow toggle, seems crazy when the hide is in camo colours and it’s intended purpose is to blend in. Looking at the Buteo website, photos show their windows not only don’t have the yellow toggle, and are also lined in same camo material which makes sense, yours appeared to be black 🤷🏻♀️
Hello Mike. I have recently received my MK3 one person Buteo hide purchased at the "Global Birdfair" taking advandtage of the show price deal and partly due to your past good review on the MK2. (this is my first portable hide) I was wondering if you could recommend a folding stool and or folding chair to use with the hide. I also use the om system om-1 so your setting walk-throughs etc have been a great help to me. All the best.
Interesting new hide. I have the mk2 and find the single hide about 10 cm too small on either side. Just not quite comfy with a tripod and camera bag, leg space is compromised. So I wonder if the size has changed? Don't mind velcro myself, a snoot is however paramount when shooting Goshawks and Buzzards. I do prefer using the Aquila in winter, space for a comfy chair and small fishing table. Luxury even if I had a few quality issues.
Nice one Mike, thanks very much. One question - after you've unzipped the apertures is there any way of securing them or will they just flap in the breeze?
It makes no difference to the wildlife, you just need to hide the human shape. If you do not want people to notice the hide a green hide would be better against a green background and brown against brown. Not something to think about really. Just buy whatever colour you fancy.

I change the sheets once a year, whether they need it or not, but can never remember how it's done either.
Folding up, that's how we used to fold large band saw blades!
I have been told that.
I like the single person hide. Thanks for sharing. A big LIKE for your video. Greetings from Singapore.
Thank you too

Yes I think it is the slide film days I am holding onto.
Great info and demo Mike, thanks for sharing this! Folding the double hide would have been a great test for those on the Generation Game, lol. Cheers
It is a challange.
Glad you demonstrated the fold up process, Mike.

Great work, Mike!
Thank you kindly!
Great overview Mike, thanks for taking the time to make this 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Mike. Like the way you dismantle!!
Thanks 👍
Nice walk through, thanks.
Thanks.

Nice video Mike. I wondered if you would mention how I initially struggled folding it down. Once you have the knack, its reasonably easy.
I should have filmed you trying.
@@MikeLaneFRPS That would have made people laugh 🤣

I had not noticed that.

My last stool came from Go Outdoors camping company. It has no brand name on it. Fishermans shops are a good source.

They are the same size.
@@MikeLaneFRPS OK, thanks!
It is probably easier to keep insects out if you use zippers. Hook an loop might leave openings.
And another use for my rubber mallet!
Nice one Mike, thanks very much. One question - after you've unzipped the apertures is there any way of securing them or will they just flap in the breeze?
When unzipped the flap can be folded down inside the hide. There is a sort of pocket it goes into.
@@MikeLaneFRPS That's brilliant, thanks Mike.
Big downside you may find is that zips when they get dirt etc they get clogged up and become hard to use.
Hi Mike!
If i was to get only one of rhose single man hides what colour do i go for for UK? brown or green?

@MikeLaneFRPS thanks a lot for taking time to reply. I was under Impression that brown one would be for autumn, winter and green for summer time 😅
For tent pegs, you need t bar pegs that anglers use for their bivvies, ie tents.
Thanks.
