    “You don’t have to copy me.” Lol, one thing I’m absolutely learning on this beautiful watercolor journey is it’s impossible to copy another artist especially with this loose style. Just try and copy Paul fellow artists, just try (cracking myself up). Excellent video and need to give that cling wrap a go again since it’s been awhile. Thank you for sharing Paul and Margot. And even though you’re in the UK, I’m saying Happy Thanksgiving to you guys and to your sister that lives across the pond here in our wonderful Florida Paul.

P.S.!"Good morning to all the roosters and all the people of the Canary Islands!Hooray!😜😊🤩🐓🐓🐓". Question: why use Paynes grey rather than a mix of ultramarine blue and burnt umber. Doesn't the back in the Paynes grey deaden the the look?

      I do use both options but use PG for convenience sometimes and don’t find it is a dead colour like lamp black

    I struggle with the card technique. I've even cut different edge, but I seem to get a line, not a swatch. I also seem to just scored the paper and the pigments run into the groove, which can be useful, but not what I usually want. Love the videos!

    It is a jolly good informative book, my favourite at the moment and have not been able to put it down. You have a good way of communicating; “Imagine you are with me in the medieval street of the village of Verrucola in Tuscany” drawing your readers into the project. First I read the book from cover to cover before starting the projects which I am enjoying learning these new skills. Also a big thank you for the 45 printouts! What a lovely gesture. Lovely website. Like your book, your TH-cam is different, I keep coming back for more 😊. I practice practice & practice each and every day, I love watercolour but it is by having good tutors who truly take an interest and enjoy sharing their knowledge that who get their details across. BIG Thank you Paul. ✏️🎨🖍

Speaking of names, I believe I started watching Bill Alexander when I was a kid and never knew who this Bob Ross was until grown and flown. Thank you so much for your video and explanation! Painting landscapes is my stress reliever and most of the time I don't try nor want to make something pretty or realistic. I mostly just drop colors here and there, mix watercolor paint, pencils, wax pencils... I just go however I feel like.
    But lately I've been painting a view that included mountains, and a friend of mine wanted me to finish the piece for him as a Christmas gift. The thing is that I had never painted mountains before so that was making me anxious. But your video helped immensely.
    Your way to explain things make everything easier. 😊 I've been able to finish my painting and I'm quite excited about it.
    Thank you again for sharing your time and experience with us. 💕

    Not only are your paintings mesmerizing...you make it look so simple....that's another art I believe ...to make people pick up brush and try painting

    Paul, who originally started the " cling film " technique?
    I see that you use the sharpened end of your paintbrush, whereas some people use a twigg sharpened from their Garden to pull grassy details. How do you come up with these different techniques? Do you just try some different things to see how they will work or someone actually started these different approaches to enhancing your art work

    • @ArtbyPaulClark
      @ArtbyPaulClark  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hiya - not sure who started it - probably evolved years ago using other similar materials. I did start using a garden stick but kept loosing them so it's good to know it's always on the end of my brush.

    I thought you wasn't going to have a tutorial this morning but I still checked when it was 8 o'clock. These three paintings are dynamic! Wonderful works of art as usual! Thank you so much and also thank you for the teaching the tecniques like how use the credit card to remove the paint. These are new methods I just learned.

    I love the cling film ! Plus I have so many pics from hikes in Rockys that this will help me transfer into painting! Love your humor too, makes me giggle.

    I want to encourage everyone to give just a bit, at least, on the patron program. He gives us SO MUCH for nothing. I was a professor and also taught privately (voice). All types of artists end up giving, giving; people so often don't think about the fact that we do this for a living. Yes, it is fun, but we have to eat and buy booze. Please give enough for Paul and Margot to have a beer on us! And, no I am not his cousin or secret lover.

    I did an interesting experiment:
    I copied the picture in negative colours !
    That looks nice, like mountains covered with gras.
    I mirrored it, too, I think it looks better mirrored.
    Funny ! 🙂

    I'm having difficulty with your card technique; when I try it, it doesn't work as well unless I scrape off the top layer of the paper. Is that how it's supposed to work? I was pointed to your tutorial by two different people in two different Facebook watercolor beginner groups. I'm new to this, so thank you for your tutorials and your lovely work!

      Hi Tanya - are you sure you are using proper watercolour paper as this shouldn't happen?

  • @RetroSpctve

    cant do this with the equipment i have, could anyone give me an idea as to what is making it so that when i take my card to the paint, the paint doesnt lift off as easily?
    materials list:
    academy wc paper 100% cotton
    MozArt watercolor half pan set
    has to be one of the 2

    • @ArtbyPaulClark
      @ArtbyPaulClark  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hiya - it should work with those materials - dry painting a little longer - when it's semi dry.

    Sir I have seen you using pastels over watercolor in a lot of videos. But to save these works later they must then be sprayed with fixative... I hope fixative doesn't creates water droplet effects all over watercolor surface then?

    • @ArtbyPaulClark
      @ArtbyPaulClark  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hiya - no I never use any fixative on my paintings - they either go straight in a frame if I like them or in my draw between layout paper.
