The Lackland Historian Podcast: Second week of May: First liver transplant for DoD and San Antonio

Surgeons at Wilford Hall Medical Center accomplished the first liver transplant for the Department of Defense and San Antonio on 16 May 1989. There is a little bit about the possible effects of too many Margaritas :)

@lacklandafbhistorian7501, do you have anything in your bag of tricks for Officer Training School? From 1959-1993, OTS was located on the Medina Annex of Lackland AFB. Before then, Medina had been the NCO school. I was in OTS class 82-05B. My primary instructor and flight leader was Captain Ron Durbin.
The Flight Screening Program - OTS (FSPOTS aka "fishpots") was also based at Medina. It was a course for OTS inductees who had prior pilot training, to evaluate them and qualify them up through the Cessna T-37 "Tweety Bird" before the beginning of their actual OTS classes.
