Hmm this actually surprises me as a fan of Incubus since ~2003. Please check out the album Morning View. Damn.... ya'll can't do the exact same thing for 20 years. Extremely disappointed.
Incubus is best consumed in album form. They have some hits, but there are too many jazz influences for them to go full mainstream. They make beautiful soundscapes and the music is best in long form. Megalomaniac is a banger.
The entire Morning View album is a VIBE all its own. It goes from this level of quiet tension to all out madness. This song encapsulates that really well. Every song on the album is fantastic, and the lyrics have some true poetry in them. Worth watching with the lyrics so you can catch everything. Warning is another stand out track. Or Blood on the ground. Or...
@@seamusburke639 I would say partly. There is a span of songs that feel very breakup focused (Just a phase, 11am, Blood on the Ground, Mexico) but others are very much love songs. Hard to call it one way or the othrr
Other songs by them that I really love: Dig, Drive, Pardon Me, Wish You Were Here...this one is okay, always loved his voice. Incubus is a nostalgic fave of mine from back in the day. Geez at my age now, everything's pretty nostalgic!
Love Incubus! Great bass! Their "Make Yourself", "Morning View", and "S.C.I.E.N.C.E." albums are fantastic! My favorite song is A Certain Shade of Green.
Incubus' music can range from a mellow vibe to jazz-funk to intense alt-metal. It really is all over the place. Their biggest hits were their more mellow vibe songs. "Drive" was their biggest hit. "Pardon Me", "Stellar", and "Aqueous Transmission" are all great.
If you continue on the Incubus journey, you have such a ride ahead. I caught them live in '98 supporting their S.C.I.E.N.C.E album and was blown away. Science and Make Yourself albums are peak Incubus, for me. Especially given the times, absolutely out of left field and creative, and rocked. You could see Brandon finding his voice all along the way to become the powerhouse singer he is, today.
“Aqueous transmission” is one of the most beautiful songs , and one of the main things I like of this band is that every song is different from each other . ❤😂
I follow you cuz im a huge Tool fan but I'm a big Incubus fan as well and glad u are diving into this band. They do have a great vibe. This song is at the top of my list of Incubus songs but there are still many. Song is on a great album as well.
This whole album was amazing. Good choice. Incubus would be the result of Portishead and Alice and Chains had a baby. You should've checked out Pardon Me, that was their breakthrough song.
Oh I love the unplugged versions of Incubus live. They had such a great concert. Totally bliss 🤘 try listening to the song called drive, pardon me and wish you were here. Those three tracks are all home runs
Incubus is my all time favorite band, right up there with Rage. A lot of fans hated this album because their previous stuff was a lot harder, and many accused them of “selling out.” Some songs you should check out: Dig, Anna Molly, Megalomaniac, Warning. And if you’re looking for the harder stuff, the SCIENCE album is the best place to start. I finally got to live out my one and only bucket list item and see them perform at Red Rocks last year, I cried like a baby the entire time. I hope the next song you hear from them lives up to the hype 😊
@@ShirleyTimple Dumb take. This album is musically a fucking masterpiece. It will stand the test of time better than any of their other albums. If Bass players were musical savants, they'd be guitarists.
Incubus SCIENCE album is my favorite. Redefine, vitamins, my favorite things, and deep inside. Most of the album is one song listenable, there is one or two that would sound weird solo but fit the groove of the album. Deep inside has a nice groovy jazz with some burst of chaos, my favorite.
My guy, definitely check out more of them. LOVE Incubus, I see them in concert whenever they come around my city. Really diverse catalog, though the biggest transition was between the SCIENCE and Make Yourself albums. If this is your first reaction to Incubus... make sure to check more songs out. They are all over the map when it comes to tempo and vibe. One of my fav. bands ... hope to see more
Having a dj made more sense back when funk was a big part of their sound. Make yourself is a great album, but a certain shade of green from s.c.i.e.n.c.e. is the one song that will make you go "holy shit" if you've never listened to incubus. Summer romance will always be my personal favorite
When I was 8, Make Yourself (& The Marshall Mathers LP) were first two CDs I ever bought. Ever since then, incubus has been my absolute favorite. To this day, I feel their music in my core. As I’ve grown and matured over the years, so has Incubus’ music. Each album more different than the last. And always on their own terms creatively. I think that’s what ppl who wrote them off years ago don’t understand. Incubus does not care what you or mainstream music want or think you want. It’s right there in the album title A Crow Left of the Murder. Ill quit rambling and sum it up by saying that if you quit listening when Dirk left, I am terribly sorry that you have missed out on some incredible music. But it’s not too late. Make Yourself
Holy hell, same here! Raging out with science and make yourself at age 12, isolated and angry. Seeking peace but still bitter with morning view. Met my future husband plus woke up to how dark the world can be with crow left of the murder. Wanted to do something about it with light grenades. Went through a dark night of the soul with if not now, when. Came out the other side wanting to connect with others with 8. Living a grounded but spiritual life with trust fall. How in the world did it happen to be the soundtrack of my life? It isn't coincidence, there's no such thing!
Incubus and Bush are true goats of 90's alternative music. Could never get tired of hearing them in repetition. One thing is tough, getting the live to sound anything like the recorded version. I mean the time that somebody said the live is so much better than the recorded was never. Haha But I'm sure if your told the right song and not live, your enjoyment maybe furthered. And you are correct in assuming that most bands don't carry a DJ in their back pockets. Incubus, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and Deftones are some to name a few.
Aww man this music takes me back! Good times Good music and great memories. Enjoyed the reaction man have a blessed day! Oh pardon me is a great song by these guys.
S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Make Yourself are their two beat albums. Their sound completely changed after S.C.I.E.N.C.E, and I feel like they fell off after Make Yourself. Check out Certain Shade of Green, Vitamin, Favorite Things, Pardon Me, Stellar, Drive, Make Yourself.
Don't sleep on these guys Polo, they definitely deserve some more attention. I admit that the first time I heard them they didn't "blow my socks off" either, but they absolutely do grow on you..(there's a reason they have a double CD greatest hits album called Monuments and Memories.)

I have to recommend Under My Umbrella and Sick Sad Little World if you want to hear the harder edge of Incubus, super dynamic band and they were amazing live when I caught them a few years back, always awesome dude!

This made me sooooo happy! Wish more reactors did Incubus. They have so many amazing songs! Lyrical genius! Check out “Wish you were here” it seems to be a favorite of people new to them
Incubus are just unique… he’s a ridiculously innovative guitarist and songwriter and Brandon’s voice is one of those you immediately know it’s him. That + the different musical backgrounds of the rest of the band make for this insane combo…. And they are RIDICULOUS live.
Incubus are growers, not show-ers. You have to give them time. That being said, A Certain Shade of Green, Drive, Pardon Me are probably the 3 to get started on, and most likely to hook you in.
I will always remember Incubus as a band that never stood still. Every single album they evolved, much like Tool! I love that you're getting in on this journey. Brandon is up to the challenge, too, he's a PHENOMENAL vocalist. This was a really odd first Incubus song... It kinda works best in the album context. Pardon Me, Warning, Summer Romance, Privilege, Drive, Favorite Things, Megalomaniac, Sick Sad Little World...Try any of those.
Was at a Incubus concert I side a packed arena... he plumes and plucks his guitar between. So gs. Then start the sponge bob square pants theme. The whole arena in since "He lives in a pineapple under the sea... " It was amazing! Just a great band. Xo
Literally my favorite band and they definitely don’t get enough credit! They have so many songs that are on every end of the spectrum and the lyrics are amazing in almost every song. You definitely need to check out more Incubus. Not enough reactions in my opinion. There’s a few I think you need to check out… Wish you were here Dig The warmth Nice to know you
This is an interesting first take on the band. I think the live track is a great intro so you get a feel of who's doing what, and should help you appreciate whatever you do next. The newer albums are quite different from the first few albums, and while I appreciate the full span of their style, I tend to lean toward their earlier chaos.
Tracks: Certain Shade of Green, Idiot Box, Nebula, Vitamin, Make Yourself, The Warmth, "Drive" was their big radio hit as it's more chill and appeals to a wide range audience.
great reaction POLO. Incubus is a band that has had an interesting evolution, I personally prefer the older albums and tracks, you could listen to the track called The Warmth, from their 1999 album Make Yourself.
I was a huge Incubus fan in high school and college. I still am but their earlier albums up to and including Morning View were their best! Circles, Mexico, Idiot Box, A Certain Shade of Green, Consequence and so many more are worth checking out!
My favorite band of all time. So much evolution from Fungus Amongus up until now. Their range is everywhere. I had the pleasure of meeting them in 2009 and it was a dream come true. Every musician within their group compliments the other so well. True masters of their art. I recommend listening to every album in their entirety from Fungus Amongus to 8.
Man, getting to see them live has honestly been one of the most memorable experiences of my life. They sound amazing, have tons of energy, and know how to work a crowd. My husband and I were supposed to see them, but a few months before they came into town, the pandemic hit the States. They have a pretty good range of musical styles, and some songs are catchier, while others have deeper lyrics. Definitely give them another shot!
Great band, great song, kind of a deep cut and the live version at that. I think the best introduction anyone can get to them is probably "I Wish You Were Here" but they have a lot of great radio hits like Pardon Me, Drive, Warning, etc. You could also check out some of their really great deeper cuts like Redefine or Sick, Sad Little World but they're also a band you should understand the lyrics for like Tool. Lots of great meaning hidden inside their vibey music.
I like Incubus a lot, but Just a Phase isn’t the song I would’ve picked to introduce someone to Incubus. This is pretty deep into their catalog, so I was pretty surprised to see this was the first Incubus song that you reacted to. For a better sense of their body of work, I’d recommend the songs Pardon Me, Nice To Know You, or Wish You Were Here. Or, to check out their heavier, funkier roots, check out something off of their SCIENCE album, like New Skin or Certain Shade of Green. PS - The album that this track comes off of, Morning View, is definitely one of those albums you listen to all the way through. This song is way better within that context.

Literally my favorite band and they definitely don’t get enough credit! They have so many songs that are on every end of the spectrum and the lyrics are amazing in almost every song. You definitely need to check out more Incubus. Not enough reactions in my opinion.
There’s a few I think you need to check out…
Wish you were here
Dig
The warmth
Nice to know you
My favorite is Nice to Know You. An earlier release but great. Any way you look at it, you can't go wrong with Incubus!❤
Morning view is just art and a vibe at the same time 🌄 🌄 🌄
This is an interesting first take on the band.
Awesome band. Love this song
I was a huge Incubus fan in high school and college. I still am but their earlier albums up to and including Morning View were their best! Circles, Mexico, Idiot Box, A Certain Shade of Green, Consequence and so many more are worth checking out!
Glass and New Skin from this gig are two must listen tracks!👌
Check out 'Wish you Were Here' from same set. Awesome tune.
They are incredible live. So on point.
Big fan of incubus but never heard this one. Thanks polo!
Sick Sad Little World would be my suggestion. It's a masterpiece.
I'd love to see a co-headlining your with 311 & Incubus! Have they ever toured together? I feel like they have a very similar vibe.
They rock! So many jams!
“The Warmth” Trust me.
