Song Huong Vietnamese Restaurant - If you're a fan of Vietnamese spicy beef noodles (bun bo hue), BUT I also suggest getting the Bo Ba Lot (juicy, savory grilled meat wrapped in la lot leaves). 2. Maruatama - Japanese chicken ramen! So comforting, and rich. Different from the usual pork-based ramen. 3. Kirin Seafood Restaurant - I would just go for the durian mochi during dim sum hours... 4. Au Petite Cafe - Ignore the noodle/soup dishes. Get the banh mi, spring rolls, and coffee! Banh mi is a lot more simple than most places, but everything is done just right. 5. Eat sushi. 6. Mamalee - Hainanese chicken 7. Aberdeen Mall - Fried chicken wings, Hainanese chicken 8. Crystal Mall - Soup dumpling, Chinese BBQ

I'm in the Midwest but moving to California next spring and I'll very excited to be surrounded by my own culture, but I'm a little worried that people will give me the cold shoulder because I'm not from there and I'm only half blood.
Nice video. I usually go over to NY Noodle off the Manhattan Bridge. for Shrimp Dumpling Soup. I think they are pretty good. Nice to know about flushing spots. but a bit difficult to communicate with some of those places, because they don't speak to much English, So that language barrier sucks.
Vacationed in Flushing in June. Agreed on White Bear. Wontons did not live up to the hype. Spicy lamb burger at Xi'an definitely did. But the best I had by far were the lamb skewers at the cart on the corner of Prince and 39th Ave.

Nowadays it serve as a gathering place for out of state chinese, because thats where all the buses stop at. Probably more chinese doing business than living here now. Lots of shops and mainly cantonese food. Alot of chinese who works outside of nyc will go here during their day off and buy whatever they need. As far as I can tell, the manhattan chinatown is getting smaller. Few years ago this was the only option for hosting wedding for chinese people, but recent years more chinese are choosing to have their wedding host at brooklyn and flushing. Flushing ChinaTown: The most modern and vibrant, and youngest among the three. Main street was a perfect place for ethnic enclave and flushing really use it to its full potential. Mainly northern Chinese, Korean, and used to have some large population of taiwanese there as well. Alot of young chinese immigrants due to the fact that it has a large number of condos available which favors international students from china and korea. Flushing Chinatown really shift away from the traditional chinatown's vibe. It is actually more closer to what china's shopping area would look like nowadays. Despite that, most of the chinese here dont really live in flushing due to the fact that flushing doesn't really have alot of houses available. Its mainly condos and commercial buildings. 8th Avenue Chinatown: This is a complicated one. If you look at the subway map of N train, every station after 8th avenue consists a small chinatown of its own all the way to kings highway. Mainly Fujianese, used to be all cantonese 10years ago. Now its about 80% fujianese to 20% cantonese. Recent years alot of international students starting to live here due to the cost of rent is the lowest among three. This is also the most crowded chinatown because of the way brooklyn apartments were built back in the early 20th century. Each 2 family house in brooklyn chinatown could potential hold more than 6 families inside (illegally). A tiny 1 family house in 8th avenue can cost as much as 2 million dollars. satellite chinatowns: sort by population(sort of): Bensonhurst(brooklyn): This is where most of the cantonese from 8th avenue moved to. Place is growing rapidly and is mostly unknown for anyone living outside of brooklyn despite having some of the best cantonese restaurants. Elmhurst(queens): its like the younger sister of flushing minus the korean population, most of the taiwanese used to live here.) East Jackson Height(queens): This is an awkward chinese community. Barely any chinese business here, but there are large population of chinese here somehow. it is next to a huge hispanic population which chinese community get along with pretty well. But unlike other community (like how italian community from bayridge are completely driven off) that will usually move out after more chinese moving in, hispanic community dont seem to mind. Overall, the development of nyc chinatown goes like this. Near subway station? Plus. Cheap housing? Plus. Very politically incorrect, but No black population? Plus. In those kind of massage parlor, the masseuse will try to "encourage" you to order their special service, which is annoying if you just want massage. If you want special service in the first place, you can get better at other place.

+Strictly Dumpling, this brings back a lot of memories. I lived in Taiwan from Summer '59 to Summer '61 when my father (U.S. Army) was assigned there with MAAG Taiwan. I was in the 5th and 6th grades. We stayed a few weeks at the Grand Hotel then moved to Tian Mu. The people were wonderful and the food was fantastic! Thank you for taking me back in time......I will never forget it.

I'm going to disagree with you that Kung Fu has the best xiao long bao. Nan xian is definitely better. Even my picky Shanghainese husband prefers Nan xian over Kung fu any day. Although he still really thinks this one shop in Shanghai is the best (of course). Nan Xian has better xiao long bao skin than Kung Fu and it is more flavorful as well. There's a reason why it is so popular. I loved Nan xian when it first opened and it is still better than a lot of xiao long bao places.
LOL, the restaurant that I want to visit most, is racist towards non Asian's.. I ran into this in Japan, as well. I guess all cultures are guilty of this to some degree.
I've been ignored in korean restairants in manhattan to the point thay i left after waiting 20 minutes while watxhing them seat and serve korean patrons that came in after me. The main reason why o find it difficult to gobe my business to places I'd really like to try

Our family lived in Flushing from 1964-1968. I went to school from K-4. Parsons, Bowne, Northern, Main, Roosevelt, Union, etc. were our stomping grounds. Lots of changes over the years... er, decades. I'd love to get back there. I moved out of the area in 1977, and came back for a visit in 1997. I tried to drive through the neighborhood, but the traffic was ridiculous. Loved watching this video.
Manhattan is the tourist place of NYC ! Because there is Central Park, Time Square, 9/11 memorial and the One World Trade Center, Empire State Building, The Parralman's Performing Arts Center (close to the 9/11 memorial), New York mall, Statue of Liberty, Madison Square Garden and the New York Knick's nba basketball game. And in Brooklyn there is the Barclay's Center and the Brooklyn Net's nba basketball game. The Net's are one of the second largest NBA team in NYC. After the New York Knick's in Manhattan.

In the Upstate New York ! There is Albany, NY and Buffalo, NY. The place to explore the state of New York. There is Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. For someone who likes to swim or fish. In between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. At the border between Canada and Upstate New York. There is Niagara Fall's. At there you can tour the 3 fall's the American Fall's, the Horseshoe Fall's, and the Bridal veil Fall's. Also you can go to the maid of the mist ship. To have the experience to go through the 3 fall's mist.
acrophobe chinese people doesn't care too much about sanity because in China including Taiwan and Hong Kong people are used to lower sanity standards. We are not to strict as American people, Because we came from a third world country.
The dirty hole in the walls usually have the best food. Clean places attract a lot of customers. Dirty places go out of business if they don't sever good food.

I would actually love to live in flushing. I mean I hate the 7 train but its whatevers. I love the hustle and bustle. I love how flushing is like a mini but yet large city within a city. Love it!
Video and the series itself is very disorienting. You could have done the whole series at home and gave better directions to the places. Instead I'm left with the name of the restaurant and have to find directions to it myself. Pictures of the soup dumplings and all the recommendations are also better. You can't just say TRUST ME TRUST ME TRUST ME and expect people to be convinced that your recommendation is better based on your word. Not trying to start an argument here but kinda disappointed in the entire series as I was hoping for great video or pictures of food and why its the best and instead I get you and your friend saying TRUST ME, TOURIST TRAP. Are the people who line up all tourist? or are they locals? Kind of hard to believe people will go all the way to queens for a Chinatown when the Manhattan Chinatown has much more closer tourist destinations like WTC, Wall Street, and other downtown Manhattan destinations.

+Strictly Dumpling, this brings back a lot of memories. I lived in Taiwan from Summer '59 to Summer '61 when my father (U.S. Army) was assigned there with MAAG Taiwan. I was in the 5th and 6th grades. We stayed a few weeks at the Grand Hotel then moved to Tian Mu. The people were wonderful and the food was fantastic! Thank you for taking me back in time......I will never forget it.

I'm going to disagree with you that Kung Fu has the best xiao long bao. Nan xian is definitely better. Even my picky Shanghainese husband prefers Nan xian over Kung fu any day. Although he still really thinks this one shop in Shanghai is the best (of course). Nan Xian has better xiao long bao skin than Kung Fu and it is more flavorful as well. There's a reason why it is so popular. I loved Nan xian when it first opened and it is still better than a lot of xiao long bao places.
LOL, the restaurant that I want to visit most, is racist towards non Asian's.. I ran into this in Japan, as well. I guess all cultures are guilty of this to some degree.
I've been ignored in korean restairants in manhattan to the point thay i left after waiting 20 minutes while watxhing them seat and serve korean patrons that came in after me. The main reason why o find it difficult to gobe my business to places I'd really like to try

Our family lived in Flushing from 1964-1968. I went to school from K-4. Parsons, Bowne, Northern, Main, Roosevelt, Union, etc. were our stomping grounds. Lots of changes over the years... er, decades. I'd love to get back there. I moved out of the area in 1977, and came back for a visit in 1997. I tried to drive through the neighborhood, but the traffic was ridiculous. Loved watching this video.

Because there is Central Park, Time Square, 9/11 memorial and the One World Trade Center, Empire State Building, The Parralman's Performing Arts Center (close to the 9/11 memorial), New York mall, Statue of Liberty, Madison Square Garden and the New York Knick's nba basketball game. And in Brooklyn there is the Barclay's Center and the Brooklyn Net's nba basketball game. The Net's are one of the second largest NBA team in NYC. After the New York Knick's in Manhattan.

In between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. At the border between Canada and Upstate New York. There is Niagara Fall's. At there you can tour the 3 fall's the American Fall's, the Horseshoe Fall's, and the Bridal veil Fall's. Also you can go to the maid of the mist ship. To have the experience to go through the 3 fall's mist.

I would actually love to live in flushing. I mean I hate the 7 train but its whatevers. I love the hustle and bustle. I love how flushing is like a mini but yet large city within a city. Love it!
Video and the series itself is very disorienting. You could have done the whole series at home and gave better directions to the places. Instead I'm left with the name of the restaurant and have to find directions to it myself. Pictures of the soup dumplings and all the recommendations are also better. You can't just say TRUST ME TRUST ME TRUST ME and expect people to be convinced that your recommendation is better based on your word. Not trying to start an argument here but kinda disappointed in the entire series as I was hoping for great video or pictures of food and why its the best and instead I get you and your friend saying TRUST ME, TOURIST TRAP. Are the people who line up all tourist? or are they locals? Kind of hard to believe people will go all the way to queens for a Chinatown when the Manhattan Chinatown has much more closer tourist destinations like WTC, Wall Street, and other downtown Manhattan destinations.
