I own a 395xp with a 32” bar and my buddy has an MS660 also with a 32”. We’ve actually done a shootout on some wet elm the same diameter at the same time and both running the same full skip Stihl chain @ 30/60/10 degree pitch. Neck and Neck! Both are exceptional professional saws and love them both!

Appreciate you keeping it short and to the point. I've skipped quite a few "talky" videos looking for some side by sides of these two saws.

I have one coming in the next few days. The last big saw I bought was in the 1980's and was a Homelite 750. I can't wait for it to get here I have a 32" bar and chain ready!

Any comments regarding the repair or ease of finding parts and spare parts for both brands? I'm undecided between the two chainsaws.

I have worked on the 066, 066 Magnum, 066 Magnum Red Light Special, MS660 and MS661 Stihl saws, and 390XP, 394XP, 395XP Husqvarna saws and I have ran them all, cut with them all. I will say that 21 years ago when I retired from defending my country to a life of tinkering, I thought the Husqvarna saws had lower compression because they were always easier to pull the rope to start them, even though my compression gauge showed they were fine. I always liked the deeper sound the 066 saws make. My ears didn't like the higher frequency sound from the Husqvarnas and I still don't. But Now that I have over 2 decades tinkering with them, inside and out, seeing all the different ways they are engineered and take abuse, I would buy a Husqvarna almost every time over a Stihl. They last just as long as Stihl if you take care of your saw, They are a little bit lighter and a little bit easier to pull and start for the same size cc and horsepower saw. If I knew someone that leaves their saw out in back of their truck bouncing around and getting rained on I would tell them to buy a Stihl because a Stihl will take more abuse and beating and rain. Over the long haul both brands are about the same with little differences. I hate the new stratocharging design with its air precharge triple intake ports and funky piston design because is hard to port and modify for more performance. But if that is what is takes to keep the catalytic converter out of the muffler and still meet epa limits then so be it.

That 72LGX chain is whats slowing your cut down. That is the chain I run on my Ported MS250 16" bar and my Ported MS260 18" bar and my ported 029Super and MS290 saws with 20" bars. I have two identical Stihl MS362 saws (not ported yet), one of them (Mary Lu) has a 20" Oregon bar with that same 72LGX 3/8" chain full comp teeth. The other MS362 (Lisa Marie) has a 20" Tsumura Light bar with a Stihl .404 full skip chain. Both chain are full chisel cutters. My logger buddies and I have timed the cuts on different types of logs and always Lisa Marie with her .404" pitch chain is finished cutting when the other one, Mary Lu still has about one third of the cut left to finish. The .404 is that much faster. I have switched the bar, chain and rim sprocket between the two says and the one with the .404 always cuts quicker. I have matched the ms362 with .404 full skip against my MS460 with 3/8" chain, both 20 bars and they both cut through at the same time. Switching the operator does not make any significant difference. That .404 chain does make a slightly wider kerf and there are less teeth to sharpen. When I cut up shagbark hickory for firewood, I put a Oregon 27 micro chisel .404 full skip on that Tsumura bar and cut that hickory like it is soft wood. I bought a used 20" Oregon bar with Oregon square chisel .404 full comp chain at D&D Pro Shop in Salem last year and I'm eager to try it out on my 372XPG just as soon as my new oil pump comes in. D&D is where I bought the new Tsumura 20" bar with .404 tip. You can not order a 20" bar with the .404 tip, so they ordered the bar and swapped out the 3/8" tip to a .404 tip for me.

You used the dogs and made the husky work harder. I have used a couple of the 90cc huskies though and prefer them over the stihls. Seem to have a slightly better top end and bog down less in my opinion. But I may be wrong.

The huskys run at slightly higher rpms and will out cut the stihl every time when its new but they have one piston ring where the stihl has 2 and the stihl will maintain power over the years and a husky slows down in time. Both are nice and i wanna buy a husky to compare to my stihls but i hate there external clutch

@@joseamezola4345 looks like a yellow pine from this angle. But I don’t think that it is. I would have to have a better look. Haha. But it’s obvious that the wood is soft compared to oak or locust.
You want to see the real difference in power and speed cut a Locust that has been dried. It’s extremely hard to cut through.
I have used both. I’m not a fan of husky because of the quality. But they do rev higher which spins the chain faster. That’s fine on pine but when it comes to some big hardwood husky dies down too much compared to Stihl.
If you want quality go with stihl. Speed depends on the species of wood. Balance is better in the Stihl. Every time I run a husky I worry about pulling it apart. Stihl are solid.
I think at the end of the day its what you like that matters. I’m a stihl guy because I have never had a good experience with a husky. I worked in the woods for years and have operated both.
I don’t get why people use huge bar and chains. I have watched my dad cut 6 foot across with a 20 inch bar. Only to have to push it over because it refused to fall. Lol.
Oh how I miss those days.

@@joseamezola4345 Try out a .404 full skip bar and chain on those saws. You can buy the bar for the Stihl and use it on both saws. To put a bar for a Stihl on a Husqvarna you just use a small $7 adapter that goes in the rear bar slot to fit it on the Husqvarna saw. Of course you have to swap out your 3/8" rim sprocket for a .404 but that only costs about $6. You will really like cutting with .404 full skip. It cuts the log faster because the teeth take out a deeper bite than the smaller 3/8". You can use full skip .404 and it will put the same load on the saw as full comp 3/8". Another benefit is you have only half a many teeth to sharpen.
