Is it worth it? Wagyu Steak Taste Test - WalMart Marketside Beef

  • The big question you all have is WalMart Marketside Wagyu Steak worth buying and trying? That is what I experiment with in this video with a Wagyu taste taste! Honestly, I was very impressed with this cut of beef. It is not comparable to real purebred Japanese Wagyu as these are American raised Wagyu cattle that typically are bred with Angus cattle. However, the cut is very nice as it is trimmed, tender, and by far one of the juiciest steaks I've ever eaten. Additionally I show you how to cook a Wagyu steak medium similar to what I learned from watching videos of professional chefs cooking legit Wagyu. If you try this steak, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
The steak I used was about 3/4 of an inch thick. Results very slightly for different thicknesses.
    Directions:
    1. Set Wagyu beef on counter to warm for 30 minutes
    2. Pat dry steak with paper towels and season one side with coarse salt and pepper
    3. Cut steak into two pieces to fit under cooking bowel (you can also use a pan lid but it won't be exactly the same results)
    3. Heat up frying pan to medium high heat
    4. Place beef on frying pan and cover with metal bowel; cook for 1 minute
    5. Flip steak and cook covered again for 1 minute.
    6. Remove steak from pan and cover with tinfoil; rest steak for 5-8 minutes.
    7. Cut into small pieces and enjoy!

Pretty good cut of beef from Wal-Mart! It's similar to a prime in quality and not a bad price. Glad you liked it!

Never heard of covering a waygu or salting just one side....but if it turns out amazing, that's cool too.

Covering works great for chicken breast as well. You should always season both sides of a steak though. Walmart wagyu is more gimmick than anything but it is a tasty gimmick lol. If you want to try the real deal look up guga foods on youtube and try his supplier. That's a real party in your mouth!

@@savorwithdmurph1113 just had a weird buttery taste in every bite that I tend to not have in my regular angus steaks. Maybe it was just the one I got, but who knows lol. Was hoping for better though to be honest haha

Yup that’s a Wagyu for you. Really fatty and buttery. They’re supposed to have a really beefy flavor too. Not for everybody. You might like a prime cut better than wagyu. They have nice marbling but won’t be as buttery as a wagyu.

I had the american wagyu ribeye for 19 something and seared in a cast iron on both sides and put some kerrygold butter and rosemary along with grillmaster montreal season and it was honestly 10 times better than a usda certified

Stay away from it really no beef flavor and pretty oily/greasy tried the ribeye and also the New York strip. Although the ground beef is really really good highly recommend that but not the steaks don't waste your money or your time

I mentioned wagyu steaks from Walmart on a random kitchen nightmares clip on TH-cam and I still get responses from people who insult me for mentioning it. None of them have ever tried wagyu or Walmart wagyu, but they all think I'm barking mad for saying these steaks are good. I noticed they are all far left politically. Marxists hate Walmart.

First big missed step was not salting the whole thing then letting it sit in fridge for 24hours. Next miss step is having such low grilling skills your worried about flair ups. I sear and smoke these on my gravity series and its worlds better than anything pan can here can accomplish.
