if I had a nickel for each time a sonic game was originally going to have an animation for when sonic crashes into a wall I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's strange that it happened twice
@TrustyGun2 I mean, it is in Unwiished, and it's alright there. Personally, I think it would've been too much of a punishment for casual play, given how demanding Unleashed already is.
@@Technonova323tbh, as an avid fan of the Sonic series, I think getting punished for running full speed into a wall like *this* specifically is 100% worth it. At least you'd get a good laugh out of your silly mistake.
It is leftover in Generations(though the animation is slightly more broken, lol. Sonic does not even stand up, he just goes from lying down to standing in an instant) and modders restored it.
Thought I only played the worse version until I learned HD version doesn’t have sonic wall pancake. Take back everything I said sonic unwiished is the best version of all time
@@sush4nz1...74 But you do have to agree that if you were going 700 miles per hour and hit a wall in the real world, you would be knocked back or flattened like a pancake, right?
For anyone wondering, this is a used thing in Unwiished and also unused in Generations(restored by modders). In Gens, it is an exact copy of this(Which makes sense, it is likely just a leftover). In Unwiished tho, it is actually slightly more extreme because the "bonk" is just the reaction for crashing into a wall with medium speed. If you actually boost into it full force, there is a unique reaction where you briefly flatten against it and pop off, which takes slightly more time.
Anyone who thinks this shoulda stayed in the game is out of their mind. It was the right creative choice to get rid of it, regardless of skill level. This would have been extremely annoying to all level of players.
This is also unused in generations but gen’s animation transitions are so badly programmed that sonic instantly stands up after stumbling instead of a breif moment where sonic tweens to standing, i thought unleashed would make sonic instantly play the get up animation.
Reminds me of that wall crash animation in Sonic 2, maybe it's a good idea to keep this stuff unused for Sonic games... or only on the wii/ps2 version of Unleashed lol. Thx for the video!
This shows that connection between dimps and sonic team were, let's say, not very okay, because they still used this mechanic, even though it was slowing down all of the gameplay, while sonic team realised and removed it but didn't awared Wii devs
I really appreciate how the final version doesn't have this bc I would have been bashing my head with walls all the time on my first playthrough, it makes sense that wii version has it since the boost is short but stronger, I do think that boost fits for this
Very cool little idea left out. He doesn’t have a stand up anim which looks weird but if it had that I think it would’ve been fun to have. Reminds me of the PS2 version.
I'm glad they removed that, it would be extremely frustrating especially when we're still learning the layout of the stages. In Sonic Unleashed on PS2/Wii it was already a bit annoying and the boost wasn't even endless like in the PS3/X360 version.

hi, quick question? since you're playing sonic unleashed on xenia, can you tell me if you've ever had any crashes on rooftop run with the werehog, specifically when climbing?
Unleashed for Wii if you ram into a wall while boosting, allows you to recourse by cutting your boost animation instead of rubbing yourself into that wall until boost ends.
0:56 leaked IGN footage of this game
wdym they wouldn't be boosting???
Bold to assume they'd even get past the first night stage

Super happy it wasn't in sonic 2.
Kinda woulda liked it in unleashed.
@@cartoonishmoron I agree this would've been fun in the boost games

I'm sure there's a voiceline of Sonic saying "thanks a lot, wall!" that could have fit perfectly in these situations.
Oh yeah this is used in the Wii/PS2 versions instead; the one version I DONT WANT IT ON. You literally tap a wall and comically flatten against it
I've never had that issue. :\
There’s another animation for when you simply bump into a wall. You don’t flatten unless you deliberately boost into the wall.
good thing it's still in the wii version
Yeah- especially the one where he flattens up into a pancake lol. Whoever animated that one gets all my praise in the world!
Its worse with it ngl

THANKS A LOT WALL

They should have kept it in the side step sections
0:37 for someone who's bashing their face in, he sure sounds like he's having a good time.
I wonder if the wall splat on the wii/ps2 version was based off this
Probably.
This is also unused in generations but gen’s animation transitions are so badly programmed that sonic instantly stands up after stumbling instead of a breif moment where sonic tweens to standing, i thought unleashed would make sonic instantly play the get up animation.
I can see why this was cut. It would have been very annoying.
And coukd have possibly led to some BS deaths if it triggered when it shouldn't.
Man I can't stop thinking about that one simpsons lobotomy meme video

@@Herobrine100x Oh yea you're right, it's in Sonic 2 not 1, my bad. I'll edit it
just like the ps2/wii version! so maybe that was a leftover from the HD version all this time!
Alternate title: sonic rams into a wall repeatedly while trying to get a concussion lmao 😂😂😂😂😂

Sometimes I do feel like crashing into a wall at mach speed
It looks so funny I kind of wish they kept it in
with some good audiovisual feedback this would've been a good feature imo

There's a reason they didn't keep this feature in Sonic 2
0:41 Don't why but that's really funny to see 😂😂
I understand its beta animation but just like a small tweak so hes not immediately getting up would make it feel a lot better
I'm glad they removed that, it would be extremely frustrating especially when we're still learning the layout of the stages.

новая волна открытий по игре, прикольно
Would’ve been good if they kept it, it’d give casuals a sign you’re not supposed to mindlessly spam the boost
This was already been a feature to Sonic 2 prototype but it got removed since it's too annoying
Huh , so there would actually be a point to the speedometer if you couldnt break boxes below a certain speed
No You Can't Do Sonic Like That! 😭 (Even Though This Is In The Wii Version.)

Not as funny as in the Wii/PS2 version. Provably for the better that it got removed, it would have been too annoying
How do you run it without graphics screwing it up or crashing???
I....actually would have preferred this...
Weird....
