    Damn man you just gave away some gold for free. Even though i feel like i could write my own training program using this video and others youve made, i'm STILL fixing to buy a 6 month training from you guys because i need form coaching on certain lifts AND because i just care so much about getting everything right that i want to do the sure thing and learn from the best

    How do you train your core to jump higher Isaiah ?

  • @harrishope9718

    Isaiah my height is 5’8 and my age is 14, my standing reach is. 7’4.5 is that bad? And can I reach an 8ft reach at some point?

      The lowest standing reach you generally will see amongst pro basketball players is 8'0". Anything below that and youre one of those isaiah thomas/nate robinson types basically. 8'0" or 8'1" is like kyrie or d-rose

    What's different abou max strength with power training?

  • @vibalas

    yo man thanks for that really needed it but i have a question when you put more emphasis on one like power speed or strenght how are you going to do that ?

    • @nd_otd

      By manipulating the volume

    • @vibalas

      @@nd_otd thanks for the answer but what is their volume like 8 exercises the whole workout then just 4 for power the rest just 2strenght 2speed

    • @nd_otd

      @@vibalas it could be like that. I think it's also possible to go as low as 2 sets per week on the modality you're not focusing on, especially on strength and hypertrophy. The principle is to use the minimum amount of volume in order to maintain, or even progress slowly, but never regress, on the modalities that are not focused on. The tricky part is identifying that minimum volume since that differs from exercise-to-exercise and person-to-person.

    As a "conjugate" implementation to my training, I don't understand what you mean by elasticity.

    Just remember - it's not always about drive, mechanics, and weight training. You can have the best mechanics but if your tendons, bones, and joints are not built a certain way, you're never going to dunk no matter how hard you try. It's just a fact.

    • @ImportAl

      @@paulm518 True, but most people don't have the drive to rule out mechanics, weight training. A fraction of a percent of people reach their genetic potential because that's HARD.

      @@ImportAl Agreed. It's difficult, but some can jump without working hard. I've seen it. Not like Rivera, of course, but with very little effort, dudes that weren't that tall and never really hit the gym who I played with/against could fly. Some people are born with pure, natural athletic talent - and some are not.

    • @ImportAl

      @@paulm518 Oh absolutely, natural talent is real. I'm 5'9" and was dunking at 17, 1 hand, two hands, oops. Now I'm old and have to train like crazy to get up there, injuries and +22 years break you down.

      @@ImportAl I'm 50 now and dunked when I was 17 as well at 5'-11". Not as good as you though - just a handful of times and never in a game - but I was a 3-sport athlete and did pretty well at all sports in general Admittedly, I could have worked harder, but my 3 older brothers could not keep up with me.

      @@paulm518 Nice! It's cool that us older guys ended up watching a Isiah Rivera video, who lays out the science of vertical we didn't have growing up. My coaches preached strength, but not enough technique, plyo, range of motion, recovery. I played a whole season of college ball with nagging hamstring, ankle, back injuries, looking back that should have been a medical redshirt. Salute to anyone who dunked under 6 foot BEFORE TH-cam showed us the blueprints! 🫡
