You should leave the mold on the top of the furnace to preheat it before the pouring in the melted metal.

Np problem. I've never used one before and it was pretty simple and should be a ton of fun. I was pretty surprised by the quality for such a low price. It's a pretty legit furnace.

I also recommend not pouring over concrete. if you spill the moisture in the concrete can flash to steam splattering metal and spalling.
you can make a small/large wooden box and fill it with sand to pour over.

Awesome suggestion. Can I just use plain old play sand?

@@AnArmAndAGreg yes, with sand the moisture will still flash to steam but since it's not contained it won't splatter.
