While some VPNs have their own tools for that, I tend use websites like “fast.com” or “speedtest.net” if you want more detailed results. Here, simply run a test without a VPN, then do the same thing with a VPN, and compare the numbers. If your original speed is low, then the VPN likely has nothing to do with it. It could be your ISP throttling your speeds or a number of general wifi problems - I have a video on how to solve these things, so check it out.
