  • My buddy accidentally binned a bike of mine off a cliff in the blue mountains. It was in a remote valley but I didn't want to let it go so I set out to try and save it.

Approximately none. I live in the Blue Mountains. Where this bike was is fairly typical, if not a mild example of the terrain. If you can walk through it, you're not in the rough stuff. Vast majority of the area, aside from fire trails cut on the kindest terrain, is not negotiable on foot, let alone on a motorbike. If you have had ANY beers & you're in this area, you're asking to be winched out by rescue helicopter by some people who are VERY unhappy with your irresponsible nature & are working out how to send you a bill for it.

We were at the very same location today - we walked from North Katoomba to Wentworth Falls via this track which is known as Bruce's Walk, built in the early 1930's. Firstly, on the side of Wentworth Creek where your bike was found, just near where it was laying, is a small cave with a bench seat. Your left mirror is in this cave. We were looking at the mirror today and was wondering how it got down there. Now we know. Secondly, if you had stayed on that same side of the creek where you found the bike, you could have just ridden back up the track quite easily - as the track on that side is much easier and has several switch-backs that would have made it easier to ride back up. The track then connects with Mount Hay Road which pops out at Leura. But at least you got the bike back. Well done.

Absolute wicked video. The effort put in to retrieve your bike by everyone was great. And then to the reachout part at the end... perfect

Hey Moog I hope the charity use this video because it is a perfect metaphor for the steep upward struggle people face when dealing with mental health issues, that you can climb out of the hole with help and that there are friends and strangers there that care and will help if you ask!

I love the spirit shown by everyone in the fight to recover that little old bike. There's a message in this for all of us. I lost my mother earlier this year and at times, it feels so hard just to put one foot in front of the other. But the more you stay positive and just get on with life, with the support of good people around you, you will get through even the darkest of times. Great content for a great cause Moog. Love your tenacity. Well done mate!

Well done…, Flipping well done!!! I live back in Belfast , But used still live in Castle Hill, Sydney, and would travel frequently to the Blue Mountains by either road cycling up there, Or by mountain biking, or by four wheeling. I always travelled with my local friends, he knew the area well, and it is a place that should never be underestimated. You have done well
