  • Welcome to Episode 2 of our Pacific Coastal Vlog series with Celebrity Cruises.
    Our 3-part Vlog series (+ a ship tour, suite tour & tour of The Retreat) was filmed over 7 nights during our cruise on board Celebrity Millennium from Vancouver, British Columbia to San Diego, California in September 2022.
    This series will document Vancouver, B.C. (where we visit Canada Place & Waterfront, the Olympic torch, & Prospect Point); Victoria, B.C. (where we go whale watching & visit Butchart Gardens); & San Francisco (where we sail under the Golden Gate Bridge, visit Chinatown {including the mid-19th c Tin How Temple}, and the Cable Car Museum, & ride a cable car).
    This episode covers our touring of Victoria, B.C. (where we go whale watching and visit an ecological sanctuary, visit Butchart Gardens, & have a fun Victoria sail away.
    (EDITOR'S NOTE regarding this episode: In late November 2022, a very sharp-eyed regular viewer pointed out I had not filled in the 'more on that later' information regarding a missed port call in Astoria. He was right! Astoria was missed, because, according to Celebrity, there was 'traffic congestion' in the port. A check of Marine Traffic at the time showed a few freighters and pleasure craft, but no 'cruise ships'- we were the only ones scheduled, so ya, thank you, Celebrity, it's a head scratcher .... we really wanted to document Lewis & Clark's expedition cabin!)

    I was wondering how the Butchart Gardens will look after the amazing tulips in May. Now I know. Amazingly beautiful still.

    Wow, what an amazing place. Seeing whales and visiting those gardens. What an experience. You'll love the botanic gardens in Adelaide.
    Beautiful filmed and love seeing you guys in front of the camera enjoying the cruise.
    Looking forward to the next one

      Thanks Angela 😊. In my opinion they do not spend enough time in Victoria, which tends to cut the excursions short, especially Butchart Garden.

    I especially liked the colorful gardens .. nice job, Holly! The whale watching looked cool … got a little sunburned there, eh Bob? Like how you did the split screen shots.

      Yes, indeed, Jan, I got plenty of sun that day! Holly did indeed do an excellent job, especially in light of the fact that she did not have a gimbal, and was holding her phone by hand.
      glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching 🙂

    Hi Bob & Holly, what a fun day out! I love boat rides, it's fun and you get different vantage views. But my favorite part of this episode, was Holly visit to the gardens! OMG so many photo opportunities! Great job Holly👍🏼 I especially like the bleeding heart shot!

    Brilliant scenery and wildlife wonderfully captured and presented. Thanks to Holly for the garden tour. Sad to hear about the decisions of management on staffing. I wonder if they saw it as an opportunity to give the crew some extra time off (which I fully support) but agree there should have been at least some degree of service provision/cover.

    • @InnocentsAbroad
      @InnocentsAbroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Pete. Holly did an excellent job on the garden for certain, especially as she didn't have a gimbal!
      As to the crew, idk about the why, just the what- they should have staffed to their advertising imo.
      I think they underestimated use as so very few passengers were aboard.

    What was the reason for missing Astoria? You mentioned “more on that later”, but we don’t recall hearing the rest of the story. If we missed it - apologies! 😬😞. We really enjoy your videos!

    • @InnocentsAbroad
      @InnocentsAbroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jonathan, I bloody-well forgot to mention it! Shucks... you're the first person to bring that to my attention, and I'll now update this video's item description with the answer.
      For you, here (again, I thank you for pointing out my error, we usually don't miss things like facts, lol!), it was 'traffic congestion'; that was the reason given by Celebrity. A check of Marine Traffic at the time showed a few freighters and pleasure craft, but no 'cruise ships'- we were the only ones scheduled, so ya, thank you, Celebrity.... we really wanted to document Lewis & Clark's expedition cabin!
      Thank you for watching, Jonathan. So glad you enjoy our videos!

      Thanks for the update! Astoria is one of our favorite ports on the coastal itineraries - lots of walking options nearby, and plenty of places to drive up/down the coast, or up-river for the day - and rental cars are nearby. We also would be bummed had we missed it.
      We are off to South America at the end of the year - Machu Picchu, Antarctica and the Falkland Islands with Azamara, followed by a week on-land in Argentina and Uruguay.

    • @InnocentsAbroad
      @InnocentsAbroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonathan.sechrist Awesome about your S.America trip! We are going to Antacrtica in about 2 weeks, lol, the Holiday sailing with Seabourn.
      I have a bit of envy about your Machu Picchu trip. We are going to Galapagos in Sept, but not not swing the extra $ to include MP.
      Please check the 'about' tab of our channel for social media contacts.. I'd love to have you join our wee FB group to share your travels (or IG if you are there).
      I'm guessing you are on the Jan 7 Pursuit trip out of BUE? We are going to miss you at the airport, returning home Jan 4!
