Hi
OMG SUCH A FAN
Many thanks to them
I love this bus how much did it cost you guys?
I love how president chay works with his brother, father and whole family. We need more people like him. Way to go man
awawaaa
What does dis even mean. More people like him in what way? Ppl dat have families? 😭
It's a really good build. That's why everybody loves it. I love the format too.
I agree

A little friendly cat advice: Cats really don't like their food and/or water near their litter box. It can cause them to eat and drink less and be more reluctant to use the litter box. Love the bus and video!
Also leaving cables in his reach is not rly save
I learned this from my sister. She also told me to put the water bowl another place away from the food, and now, my cat drinks so much more. Funny how these little things makes so much difference.

It's wild that you even have to mention it. I don't know any creature who enjoys eating next to their 💩
As a fellow skoolie owner.. BRAVO! It's an absolute beast! Such an amazing build. Maybe one day we can run into each other on the road!

thank you!! checked out your channel, love your stuff! keep it up

@@ChayDenne yooooo.. done!
Apart from how amazingly built the bus is , love the fact that you consider your fiance in every little thing through the whole process ,shows how loving and considerate you are..how lucky
As a heavy duty diesel tech, I too was looking at all of these comments from people that don't know what they are talking about shaking my head lol. You were right on all accounts for what you said and the reasoning was sound. You were right that you could have gone lighter and it would have helped a ton, but it is not the end of the world and these heavy duty vehicles and their beefed up systems are meant to run with a huge amount of weight for 10-12 hours strait a day and not even turn off the engine unless you are doing maintenance or fueling up. You did a fantastic job on this build and it looks amazing. Honestly the only thing I would have personally done differently was a slightly shorter roof raise by about 6 inches just to clear more of the bridges at least in my area and make it a little less nerve racking lol but I much say this is the first time I have seen a bus/van build and it truly looks like a house once you get inside. Like, you close that door, and you are no longer in a bus, you are in a super luxurious shotgun style tiny home. Well done.
One question I do have is in a more off grid situation, with the (amazing btw) showers and all of the lighting, how long does a tank of water and the battery bank typically last you? Or is this more used as a camper instead of a full time home on the road? Again, truly amazing build.
I was about to say the same, a lot of people with little to no knowledge on how heavy commercial vehicles work compared to cars or vans 😢
can the ride height be lowered easily? maybe with airbags
your comment made my day, thank you so much!! it means alot to have a diesel tech approve of our work- also reassuring after reading some of the more negative comments lol 😂 to answer your question, the 100gal of fresh water will last me about 3 days if im quick taking daily showers... the battery bank (not using any ac) will last about 24-36 hours depending on how frugal i am. (this is where the opening windows and ceiling fan REALLY pay off) if im using ac on eco mode and have all the lights on, i could probably get about 6 hours out of it.... however at fast idle, the secondary Alternator i added will charge a completely dead battery bank in about 4 hours!
my now fiancé and I use the bus mostly as a tiny home though with city water and 60 amp power supply with a septic system for sewage. Whenever we do take it out, we usually are only about 4-6 hours away at a campsite with power provided
again, thanks for your message man, made my day
@@ChayDennebest channel on TH-cam
@@guyod1 That all depends on the vehicle. Most heavy duty trucks (at least here in the US) have a system to dump the air out of the rear bags lowering the rear when hooking up to a trailer. And most city style/transit busses do have a system to lower either the front, back, or the entire bus to make it easier for people to get in and out at a bus stop. But for school buses, they are usually not equipped with that kind of feature due to them being made to just simply transport a ton of kids 2 times per day with very few features and comforts for as little as possible. You can buy systems to retrofit this on this bus fairly easily as I have done it but it all depends on the amount of money you want to spend for how inclusive and easy the kit actually is.
im very glad you address the problems and didnt exceed any limits, and instead did inspections and stuff like a normal peeson

My mind is completely blown, Chay, this might be the most ambitious self-build I've ever seen, and I've been watching tiny builds, conversions and renovations for decades; you've done a phenomenal, absolutely astronomical job, beyond words, well done, enjoy the time ahead!
wow, that means so much!! thank you! i couldnt have done it without my brother and dad... they are extremely skilled. thank you again
If/when you need to redo the grout, use a flexible grout that’s made to move without cracking. Not sure if they have a flexible thin set, but if so that would be ideal. Unfortunately, I seriously doubt there is a flexible thin set, but you never know what’s out there.
Flex seal
In Australia you can buy silicone grout aka flex seal. So that wouldn't be an issue.

34:06 Your computer is heating up so much because it has no circulation on the bottom due to the carpet floor. I recommend you add a wood/plastic (anything flat/solid) base to let the computer breathe a little bit.
You can see it’s on the desk panel you can’t put a pc on carpet due to static electricity
That makes zero sense. Lack of circulation or cooling doesn't make electronics heat up more. The electronics are what's causing the heat in the first place. All you can do is transport that heat away, and the AC is clearly doing that. If not the room wouldn't be comfortable to be in.
Major respect for taking a sponsorship you truly love and use, also, amazing editing skills! Never credited enough! Good work man.
I really appreciate that! thank you! upside actually helped me tremendously when i dropped out of college to start this channel- so it was crazy to have them actually sponsor us. thanks again man, i really appreciate your support
When Chay said “camping” I chuckled , 😂 at this point it’s not even “glamping” it quite literally bringing your house to the camp site amazing work to Chay and family
😂😂😂 that made me laugh
As a supplement to your off-grid power supply, I would recommend checking out what’s called an APU. They’re basically small generators that can also run a/c units, but at a fraction of the fuel that your main engine uses while idling. Considering that you’re burning through about $20 in diesel for every 8 hours that you’re idling that bus, it can be a huge savings. And as a plus, the APU can be connected to your existing fuel tank so that you don’t have to worry about keeping it filled up.
Wow I'm impressed. The attention to detail on the bus build is fantastic. The bathroom is gorgeous. The kitchen is my kind of kitchen. President Chay goes to my top spot for best bus build ever.
Treated wood is treated for rot caused by ground contact. That’s it. You need to coat that wood with something that will repel water. Obviously UV shouldn’t be an issue. Cool build!
I really appreciate you explaining each part and how safe everything is. Your house is beautiful and you have every right to call every single part your favorite part😂❤ MAY YOU LIVE HAPPILY WITH YOUR FAMILY IN THIS BEAUTIFUL HOUSE FOR A LONG TIME🎉
I appreciate how you added a sponsor you actually use, i download upside and im getting like 6% back on every tank of gas- crazy
ive already been using upside for years and im always trying to tell people its actually an asset to have on your phone but most people are tired of being told to download another app. i love it. big savings on gas and stores/restaurants its great

This is an absolutely amazing build! Thank you so much for the detailed video. One tip that will save you years of headaches over bugs - get screens on all of your windows! Learned that one the hard way. ❤ safe travels
For those thinking making one 2.0 Bus.
1. Use a wind break and auto jacks when lifting a roof.
2. Install at least 4 Solar Panels
3. Use stamp steel and fiber insulation. Not spray foam
4. Composing toliet, recycle water shower, Maxx vent fans
5. Could try to convert to biogas or veggie oil to run clean
overall chay build is 7.5/10. at 300k bus for 75k-100k aint bad
This is absolutely the best bus conversion video I have ever seen on TH-cam! Awesome job, Good luck in your future with Kelsey!
Looks better and more luxurious than those 2 to 3 million dollar motor homes! Great on so many levels! Thanks for the extended tour:)
Those cabinets at 22:55 would probably be better as slide-in cabinets instead of the regular drawers so it doesn't hit the fan hahaha but i love the changes! and the cat nook is perfect!
This bus and visiting every single city with it is just the dream life. you have the greatest life ong
That shower is the best shower I’ve ever seen in an over the road travel bus/rv. It’s absolutely incredible. Better than $1M+ rv showers. 👍🏻💯
my man was dedicated. He made the bus have 2 computers, super expensive tile AND countertops, AND even more
This video literally just made my day!
I could live in this and not be bothered about the world.
Honestly, this seems comfier (definitely more spacious) than an Earthrroamer!
Much love, from Pakistan 🇵🇰
This is the most BEAUTIFUL bus build I’ve ever seen. You guys did an amazing job! Thanks for all of your video builds.
Chay, would consider just slamming a battery operated smoke detector in the battery compartment. Stands to reason something could happen to the bms and a relatively cheap but effective backup warning device would be great. I can't fault your position, weight on the rear axles is actually fantastic for driving and general stability, just stay safe brother.
Nice to see everything at work, and all the fine detail covered.
That was one hell of a build, and glad you all learned from it
Awesome build. 🤙🏼 I'll suggest two things and that is to install a SMOKE and CARBON MONOXIDE detector. (And if you already have these disregard this comment)
Everyone’s so concerned like you’re building it for them… you built it for yourself and your fiancé! Enjoy it!
we have to share the road with it lol. thats the concern.
"fiancée". She is female.
Concern for them. And other people on the road.
they have good reasons to be concerned
The original video of you building a bus was actually really great! This video is also really great becuase it shows all the stuff that we could not see. 10/10 Project for SURE.🔥🔥
It's doper than most super luxury RV's that cost as much as a nice house.

You should do solar panels on roof that's the free energy for battery while not driving
i would put sliding doors on those fridge cabinets so it doesn't hit the ceiling fan. no way that's an easy repair.
i love that sink though, i'd absolutely get one for my house, what's it called? like brand/model/type/whatever it is haha
i forgot what its called but i typed in "kitchen sink" on amazon
@@ChayDenne went and found it basically right away haha, will definitely be getting one with kitchen renovations next year
Paying attention to only the GVWR is not sufficient. This bus has not only a raised roof, but then it has a lot of additional weight thrown up that high. Not only with the deck, but also the interior ceiling. Every pound up there is 10x worse than the water tanks, for example.
It'll be just fine man, double Decker buses are very common, and those are made to hold hundreds of people. This bus can handle it, and obviously is currently not having any issues.
@@cameronbarber3768 Yes, of course there are busses designed for that type of load. That does not mean that this bus was designed for that. The fact that it has non tipped over yet is hardly reassuring.
33:54 holy smokes i thought the ceiling was a lot lower than that but you can literally sit on an office chair on there and have some extra room
What i really like is how everything feels so well built compared to most builds i see on other rv videos, extra weight for extra durability and luxury is worth to make this an actual home
at least bro doesnt skip leg day
We love you guys and everything you do Chay!
Chay should have way more subscribers. What he does in incredible
That bus is awesome! I'd be happy to live in something like that full-time; great work!
"The more weight, the faster you can slow down." Really slapping Newton in the face with that one.

@@ChayDenne Interesting! It looks like it's very situation dependent, but yeah, in certain circumstances it tracks. Speaking of, what's the "local" campground you go to in some videos (like the $1,000 truck camper vid)? You mentioned it was about 30 minutes from Greer.

10:22 omg i love technology connections
Such an amazing build and congrats on the proposal and your upcoming married life.
Watching these videos I do feel nervous not seeing some safety precautions that construction and auto body and repair shops would typically require. Safety shoes, safety glasses and long sleeves/pants would be required. Gloves for many of the specific jobs. For the roof raise I was also squirming a bit not to see bump caps / hard hats.
For safety on the road I wonder is that lap belt in the passenger seat NHTSA certified? Any reason not to go for a proper seat with shoulder harness? And you addressed weight a lot, but the massive roof raise also changes center of gravity a lot from a bus design concept, which does have a bigimpact on suspension wear, steering and overall stability particularly in windy conditions.
Amazing build, folks. Please be careful on the safety front though.
I agree. They raised the roof and threw a lot of additional weight up there. That is scary.
Just found his video and I can tell he has such a beautiful personality, he is genuinely so kind!!!
I wasn’t one of the people that spoke about the batteries under the bed. However you mentioned if anything happens you can get out the window. Is that window big enough for your wife to be, to get out if she is pregnant ?
Thanks for giving a more in depth tour of this amazing build. Much success to you both.
Thank you for a tour of your bus chay I’m very proud of how well this went for you and your marriage keep up the good work
Why didn’t you use a generator like your last bus? And you should put solar panels on the roof so you can always charge your batteries so you have infinite life on them
right maximize energy will help in the long run instead of maximizing space
because he can charge them with the massive engine
@@Klavin1 if they live in it full time, the solar would pay for itself in a few months considering the price of Diesel.
My first thought: "OMG! Someone with the same first name as me!", my second thought "That is a pretty damn good build!" Nice work Chay!
Awesome build? Did you ever consider putting solar panels for power on the roof rather than using the engine, and if so why did u choose not to use solar?
I would say it's probably because they already have plenty of power options and as he mentioned in the video they usually use city power provided at campsites anyway so solar panels would probably be super overkill. Though that doesn't mean it can't be an additional option in the future.
it's about time this channel is finally getting the attention it deserves! 1 million subs, here we come!!
That bus is incredible! Congrats on your proposal.
"Ethernet is basically wifi transferred through a cable" lol XD
"Fire is basically like a microwave, but with hot glowing air"
"Winter is basically a refrigerator, but outside"
"Hanging out is basically a podcast, but without microphones"
"Pubs are basically chatrooms, but in person offline"
"Emotions are basically roleplaying emoji in person"
19:29 I’d be afraid of accidentally kicking and breaking the tv while sleeping 😭😭
I was thinking the same thing lol
For the people who don't know, CAT diesel engines are sturdy as hell and moving a modified school bus is effortless for them
still crying from that proposal

My main concern is that the AC unit does not have enough air flow underneath the bus. That's the main reason we put them outside. It will most certainly fail especially when the vehicle is stationary. This is a sick build though. Props to you my dude.

The exterior unit just pushes out the hot/cold air depending on the mode. It has enough space to do the job I think.
