It breaks my heart to see my fellow country people living this way. I am privileged enough to live and study overseas, but the words of the father in this video is one which I'm sure every Solomon child has heard before regardless of which country they grew up in. My own parents have said it to me many times , "you my child must study hard. Study and you will succeed". I'd like to study and work hard to help my people back home once I'm successful enough to extend a lending hand. These people deserve this basic thing and much more
I think we can't deny the fact that honestly some of the great leaders , doctors, lawyers and other educated people in our country, with such kind of difficulties they've faced in their homes have helped them to become who they are now.
It's about time that we invite China to take on and implement some of these long overdue projects of such magnitude. This Tina Hydro power project has been a talk of the show for many donkey years by AUSAID and other donar partners. This project should have been implemented so many years ago if we have aid donors and players who are genuinely interested and willing to help
Solomon Islands is a developing country that need good leaders that can honestly develop it to benefit its people through its natural resources where only the government n foreign businessmen benefits. It is very sad that all businesses are foreign-owned n indigenous Solomon Islands are left out especially rural people. The centralization of every money in the in the government also contribute to the imbalance of fair distribution of wealth to the 9 provinces where most people live. Depending on Aid-donors for most developments make this country a beggar instead of self-relaying. Solomon Islands is rich with many natural resources which have been rip off by foreigners with no tangible development in place for the people of Solomon Islands. The high birth rate is also contribute to the poverty experience by Solomon Islanders. In a country where money for services is limited n population is very high, plus corruption in the leadership level ost people are going to face poverty
We Melanesian are not poor. It's our governance system, is poor , not the People we have our own culture's. The concept of develpment must not follow the European way, our context is totally different from other countries
Powerful Solar panels and quality durable batteries cost quite a lot in the Solomon Islands. To actually have a solar powered setup that is sustainable would cost more than these struggling families can afford.
Cheap electricity they say but the cost doesn't add up who's buying for this mega infrastructure? By the time they made their money and profits and go who will maintain this infrastructure? If you ask me... tsk! Keep dreaming if you think the low cost of electricity will be felt by the nation's economy.

We can and we will change this nation.

Why can't we fundraise to send over solar panels for the entire town, and they can harvest their own energy without expensive diesel
we need many engineers and industrialists then ever before.
Truly liked the video. :D

For me SBD60 worth of power takes more than a week when running lights only. $60 for 3 days is something else.

Love it
When China has an agreement with the Solomon Islands 1000 miles from Oz the sky falls in, but apparently it's OK for Ukraine to join NATO
...and the solar projects by the MP's are cheap and chinese made. They wont last long. Vote for visionary leaders come this NGE 2019.
Why aren’t you using solar power , panel and batteries ,

Some realities for governmen'ts policy redirection and focus. Not too bad we are a developing nation
Electricity artificial energy is not your friend, natural people who once lived with nature and relied natural energy from the sun 🌞
We're far behind/way behind civilisation as uncle mentioned which is true......
But you guy drink a lot and front of modern country 😂
That's too much for kind of set up..
