This magnificent monument signals the birth of Romania (then ancient Dacia) and is a testament of the disciplined emperor who achieved what sounded suicidal at the time: the conquest of the warring kingdom of Dacia... Hats off!!

All Roman sculptures and temples where once colored. Atmospheric changes caused the color to vanish. This brought the renaissance artist to think that classical architecture was white

Hello, I'm a VR developer and would love to volunteer my time to work with you on turning these into high-quality VR apps for Education. I'd be happy to show you some of my VR work if you're interested.
I wonder how the column was "read" by spectators in a day before magnification of any kind. Was there possibly another version of the "unrolled" scroll at eye-level somewhere in the complex?
The library was close enough ( on purpose) and it was 2 or 3 floor high. With colors it is quite easy to grasp the details. Also they had guides or storytellers ( trade that never ended till today). It was( and still is) the most known propaganda monument for centuries . For the romans the dacians wars were the biggest military accomplishment ever, because they needed 14 legions and 2 wars to subdue half of the dacians ( and only for 200 years).Unfortunately and quite inexplicably there are only few informations on this wars, probably because many later emperors tried to erase the fact that they were incapable to regain the control of the dacian province ( they even renamed Moesia in Dacia to hide the truth to roman population).
